Washington, DC-- Feb 15, 2006-- Moving Ideas Network is proud to announce that they have found a new home with Care2 ( www.Care2.com ) and the 25 million progressive members who spend time at Care2. After initial incubation with the American Prospect, Moving Ideas Network ( www.movingideas.org ), has become the primary one-stop shop for progressive content on the web. Today over 180 nonprofit organizations contribute their content to the site which reaches hundreds of thousands of interested voters, community leaders, reporters, and activists each month. "I am thrilled that the deep content available on Moving Ideas will now be accessible to the web's largest progressive community site. This merger will raise the level of discourse and interaction among the Care2 community, and ultimately help each Care2 member be more effective as citizen-activists." says Vince Stehle, Program Officer Surdna Foundation.
Care2 will maintain and enhance the Moving Ideas website while also coordinating much of the content with the Care2 website. "With so many websites devoted to helping consumers make a difference - Care2.com, MoveOn.org, Yahoo! For Good, VolunteerMatch - we are constantly looking for new ways to enhance the quality of services we can offer our 5 million members. The Moving Ideas Network offers us a unique way to bring high quality content into the Care2.com community and in particular, into our discussion boards which average over 10,000 posts each day," says Randy Paynter, CEO and Founder of Care2.
"I'm very glad that Moving Ideas has found a new home with the Care2 community. Over the past 10 years, Moving Ideas has grown to become a network of 180 leading progressive nonprofits -- all of whom contribute their best content, action alerts and other resources to the site. Care2 has the ability to improve the value offered to the participating nonprofit organizations," says Diane Straus Tucker, President and Publisher of the American Prospect.
Current and future Moving Ideas Network nonprofit contributors will reach millions of interested voters and influencers quarterly, as well as receive millions of impressions each month. "This is a great opportunity for all of our member organizations, as well as our readers," says Melanie Alston-Akers, former Director of Moving Ideas. "This resource will be combined with Care2's 5 million progressive members to form the most effective progressive network available today."
Over the next several weeks, Care2 will be developing new nonprofit offerings and opportunities for nonprofit partners of Moving Ideas to reach into the Care2 community. For more information and to keep abreast of current activities, visit the www.MovingIdeas.org website or contact
