This past year has been a great one for Care2's 700+ nonprofit partners.

They attracted legions of new donors and supporters while winning major advocacy victories for their causes. Care2 has helped, mobilizing our 17 million fantastic members again and again to make a real difference. Here is a video greeting with heartfelt holiday wishes from the Care2 team.


What victories did Care2 members help you achieve in 2011?

We were astounded by the advocacy victories that so many leading nonprofits achieved in 2011 — and proud that our Care2 members played such an important supporting role in many of these big wins, large and small. Here are just a few of the more memorable victories this year:


  • Freed "Tony" the tiger from a truck stop cage

  • Stopped a titanium mine from destroying Elephant habitat

And legions of Care2 members donated their clicks - on our Click-to-Donate pages - to many great causes. In just one of many examples, Care2 members clicking daily on the Children in Need page have now sponsored 16 children in nine countries!

Meanwhile, thousands of Care2 members who took part in our "Butterfly Rewards" loyalty program generated the following charitable impacts, at no cost to them, delivered via Care2's nonprofit partners:

  • 115,000 pounds of carbon were offset with CarbonFund.org
  • 75,000 days of safe water were given to poor people worldwide via Population Services Int'l
  • 50,000 trees were planted with Trees for the Future
  • 10,000 snacks were given to seals undergoing rehabilitation with the Marine Mammal Institute
  • 13,000 weeks of clean cooking were provided to families in Cambodia with ClimatePath

2011 also was a year in which new and expanded Care2 services helped us to significantly ramp up the benefits we provide to our nonprofit partners, especially these...

Care2's online community grew from 15 million to almost 18 million members -- taking action daily to support great causes and organizations;

Care2's monthly unique audience rose from 11 million people to 13 million people, boosting the number of donors and activists that we can recruit to support and join nonprofits;

Care2 expanded its media partner network from 60 to 170 leading websites - including Grist, Mother Jones, The Nation, TreeHugger, AlterNet, Planet Green, Ms. Magazine, eNature.com, CafeMom, Talking Points Memo, Wonkette, Daily Kos, Technorati, Racialicious, Prevention, Women's Health, MTV, Free Speech TV and The American Prospect - to dramatically extend the reach and visibility of your nonprofit's Care2 campaigns to 150 million additional people per month;

Care2 launched its 13th "Cause Channel," called "Real Food." These channels have become online engagement centers for more than 1 million highly-engaged activists every month, where they blog, comment and take action on causes such as Human Rights, Global Warming, Education, Environment and Wildlife and Health.

Care2 in 2011 also unveiled new, valuable services to help our nonprofit clients achieve their missions. These include:

Facebook Likes service. Care2 now helps nonprofits grow their Facebook presence quickly and affordably, without sacrificing quality. Nonprofits pay on a "cost per Like" basis, and Care2 does the rest, tapping into Care2's own large membership and more than 500,000 Care2 fans on Facebook (as well as their circles of fans).

"Data bridges" for the Salsa and Engaging Networks software platforms. These free services enable near real-time, automated delivery of newly-recruited Care2 supporter signups to our nonprofit clients who use the Salsa and Engaging Networks databases. (We already had similar data bridges for the Convio database.);


Notwithstanding all of the above, no achievement made us prouder in 2011 than the continuing vote of confidence that you, our nonprofit clients, made in Care2. You repeatedly trusted us to help you drive web traffic to your campaigns, to win advocacy victories and to expand your base of grassroots donors, volunteers and supporters. Thank you for giving us these opportunities to help you -- and our millions of civically engaged members -- to build a better world.
