Senior Campaigns Manager – Redwood City, CA or New York, NY


The Senior Campaigns Manager works with advocacy and fundraising professionals at leading nonprofits to craft successful online campaigns targeting Care2 Web visitors and action alert subscribers. He or she will work creatively to maximize participation by Care2's millions of members, and delight our nonprofit partners by quickly fulfilling their advocacy, member recruitment, fundraising and other online campaigns.

Mixing strong client management and customer service skills with superb persuasive writing, the new Senior Campaigns Manager will manage a diverse portfolio of long-term and fast-breaking campaigns for a wide range of nonprofits and political campaigns.

The ideal candidate is passionate about progressive causes, experienced in online advocacy and fundraising, is a sound communicator and a compelling writer. The candidate must be comfortable testing, analyzing and improving campaign performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead client interaction for a diverse portfolio of campaigns
  • Research, write, edit and test campaign creative, in consultation with Care2's nonprofit clients
  • Launch campaigns, then track, analyze and report results for Care2 and clients
  • Effectively utilize Care2's website and social media to promote campaigns for Care2's nonprofit clients
  • Interact by telephone and in meetings with broad array of nonprofit professionals and advise on best practices to maximize the value they receive from Care2
  • Help manage Care2's inventory of email alerts, e-newsletters and Web site placements for maximum effectiveness
  • Achieve monthly client team revenue targets while providing strong value to Care2's nonprofit partners
  • Contribute ideas to the Business Development, Content and Product Management teams to assist in establishing campaign pricing guidelines, as well as new products and services

Qualifications:

  • Three to five years experience in online fundraising, advocacy, membership cultivation and marketing

Care2 PHP Software Engineer / DBA

Care2.com is seeking an exceptional high level PHP engineer to positively impact the world around us on daily basis.

The right candidate will have 7+ years of LAMP environment experience developing and maintaining complex websites and backend tools as well as a strong mid-level set of skills and expertise in MariaDB/mySQL administration. Our needs are primarily for a PHP developer who can provide us with about occasional DBA engagement as needed. The right candidate will have hands on experience as a key contributor to the growth and evolution of technologies and systems authored in PHP/mySQL. In addition to PHP and mySQL skills, experience with Redis and ElasticSearch will be key in our effort to build out a scalable infrastructure. We are not looking for somebody to maintain the status quo. We need your skills to help us reshape and improve our systems using industry best practices.

Engineering Responsibilities:

  • Develop PHP/MySQL code to meet the continued business needs of new site features and refinement of existing functionality.)
  • Define and contribute to the creation and maintenance of internal systems supporting the company's various departments
  • Identifying and rectifying coding issues as bugs in new or existing tools surface.
  • Contribute to architecture direction and discussions, and assist in the progressive evolution of our existing code base.

DBA Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of ongoing daily engineering experience working with PHP and MySQL.
  • 2+ years of mid-level experience administrating MariaDB or mySQL databases

Online Marketing Manager, Acquisition

Care2 is seeking a dynamic leader to aggressively drive unprecedented growth in traffic and conversions. Applicants should have a passion for digital media, analytics and optimization, as well as Care2's socially responsible mission.

We are looking for a data driven individual who is passionate about performance media to join our growing team. The Online Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for driving growth through a variety of digital platforms with a focus on optimizing acquisition metrics such as conversion rates, cost per acquisition (CPA), and ROI by channel and media campaign. In this role you'll drive the online marketing strategy while executing and optimizing platforms including, but not limited to Google AdWords, Bing, and Facebook.

Responsibilities

  • Aggressively increase traffic and conversions by optimizing all channels including search, advertising, retargeting, social media marketing and traffic partnerships.
  • Track performance using Google Adwords and Analytics, and A/B testing to grow reach, engagement, and conversions.
  • Work with performance data to compile and analyze metrics, make decisions and optimize campaign performance and balance.
  • Manage SEM and search marketing consultants.

UK Campaigner / Organiser

Care2 is hiring a campaigner and organiser in Britain to work with our member petition creators as well as our not for profit partners to run campaigns, spread the word about petitions and help the petitions succeed.

You are an activist-at-heart with experience with email and online marketing, on-the-ground organising, and online communities/social media. You have an eye for issues that will compel people to take action and share, and you are knowledgeable about British politics, policies, parliament and government structures. You are tech savvy and stay on top of the latest trends in social media and blogging. You enjoy researching progressive issues and understanding how change is made. You have a friendly demeanor and can work with inexperienced petition authors, but also be aggressive and creative with promotion tactics. You are able to balance multiple tasks easily. You are a self-starter who can work independently to take a petition and implement creative promotion strategies without a lot of hand-holding. You are comfortable flying solo on most of your work day, but sticking to deadlines and objectives, and having a team that is based in the U.S.

The goal of the position is two-fold: 1) to help Care2 continue its strong membership growth in the UK by supporting our member petition authors with strategy, writing, media campaigns, social media, etc. (80%) and 2) to work with our UK not for profit partners to run campaigns on Care2 that will help them recruit the best activists for their email lists (20%). Every day you will be working on issues that create good for individuals (human and animal!) and groups around the world!

Responsibilities:

  • Find the best UK member petitions on Care2 and contact / support the authors.
  • Jump on hot news items where a Care2 petition can help bring justice, and maintain relationships with committed regional activists.
  • Work with petition authors on targeting strategy, crafting their petitions, optimising images and graphics, crafting follow-up messaging, etc.
  • Take some petitions to the next level by creating full-scale campaigns complete with signature delivery, earned media, social media, offline events and creative promotion tactics.
  • Stay on top of the news and jump on issues that would make compelling petitions.
  • Research and write promotional materials such as emails and press releases.
  • Track statistics of petitions and promotions, run tests and adjust strategy accordingly.
  • Run campaigns for nonprofit partners that include lead generation, donations, email blasts, and other promotions to recruit the best supporters for those partners.

Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years experience in a campaigning, organising, or email marketing position
  • Mastery of online advocacy tools, techniques and trends
  • Experience / comfort working with journalists and pitching to the media
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of HTML
  • Ability to learn new online tools and systems quickly
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly with fact-checking, writing, editing, and HTML
  • Demonstrated superb advocacy writing skills
  • Self-starter, ability to work well under pressure and adjust strategy regularly
  • Excellent email and phone etiquette and interpersonal skills -- ability to work with many different personality types
  • Ability and willingness to stay on top of the news 7 days a week and jump on issues that our membership would respond to
  • Strong work ethic and desire to work collaboratively
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to balance multiple tasks on deadline
  • Leadership sense for taking on projects, advocating for resources, and following through on challenging tasks

Advocacy Internship (Paid) – Redwood City, CA

Care2.com is recruiting an intern to work with our campaigns team on various advocacy issues ranging from human rights to politics to environment and wildlife protection.

The ideal candidate is a strong writer, passionate about nonprofit issues, comfortable with HTML, and enjoys promoting progressive issues and engaging with an online community on advocacy issues. Interns learn valuable job skills and gain knowledge about the nonprofit sector and online advocacy, while sharpening their writing skills.

As a Care2 Advocacy Intern, you will:

  • Research progressive legislation and urgent advocacy topics in the US and internationally, monitor breaking news everyday for compelling campaign ideas;
  • Research and write Care2 petitions on breaking issues;
  • Write Care2 action alerts that go out to millions of Care2 members to increase awareness of nonprofit campaigns on Care2;
  • Have fun making the world a better place!

Other tasks will be assigned based on the candidate's interests and skills.

The Advocacy Intern reports to the Senior Campaigns Manager, and works with the entire Campaigns Team.

Internship Qualifications:

  • Strong writing and editing skills;
  • Proficiency in HTML and comfort with image cropping and manipulation tools such as Adobe Photoshop, GIMP or PicMonkey;
  • Knowledge of basic office programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel;
  • Enthusiasm for Care2's nonprofit issues and campaigns.
