Job Description:
Care2 is currently seeking a PHP Developer to join our team and help continue the legacy of excellence. You will be in integral member of the team working on all aspects of our system, from new products and technologies to diagnosing issue with our legacy code.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in design and definition phase of projects.
• Work alone or in small teams to complete task on time.
• Rotational assignment to diagnosing user issues on installed code base.
• Document your code for future maintenance.

Requirements:

• 3-5 Years Experience with PHP4/5
• Familiarity with Smarty/Zend
• Solid working knowledge of MySQL
• Version control CVS/Git
• XML (schema and instance)
• Familiarity with development methodologies (e.g. Agile, Extreme)

Web Editor/Producer

We're seeking a dedicated Web Editor/Producer for our Healthy and Green Living channel. Your responsibilities will include selecting and posting images, working with our content partners, editing and posting content, and monitoring interactive features. You will also help drive the growth and engagement of our vibrant, active online community.

Key responsibilities:

• Post articles, partner content, blogs and images in content management system.
• Select, resize and post images.
• Copy-edit/proof articles and blogs.
• Create HTML coding and meta-tags/meta-descriptions for search engine optimization.
• Compile and monitor statistics.
• Monitor comments and track-backs; participate in comment streams.
• Work with Healthy & Green Living editors on content generation. Write articles/blogs and create polls based on news, events, trends, seasonal items, and hot topics related to healthy and green living.
• Stay informed of current developments in healthy and green living and social networking.

Required skills and experience:

• BA or BS in Journalism, English, or Communications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Two to four years professional experience producing web content. Previous online experience essential. (Candidates with print-only experience will not be considered.)
• Proficiency with blog administration tools, content management systems and various Web browsers.
• Expertise with HTML and other web technologies.
• Knowledge of online design principles; Photoshop proficiency.
• Experience with search engine optimization techniques and meta-tags.
• Familiarity and interest in healthy and holistic wellness and/or green living.
• Strong organizational skills; ability to multitask and prioritize time and workload.

Internship Description
This is a hands-on, interdisciplinary internship in a relaxed office environment that will give you a bird's eye view of the nonprofit sector and enable you to hone valuable online communications and marketing skills. Qualified undergraduate and graduate students will have an interest in online marketing and social networking, and a background in Journalism, International Relations, International Development, Communications, Marketing, Sales, Business, Sociology, Psychology, English or Web Design. It's also good if you are interested in social entrepreneurship and causes. To some extent, Care2 will tailor the internship according to the skills you present, and to your interests, while focusing on activities that will help Care2 advance its mission and business success.

Past internships have involved:

• Writing and Content Development: Interns were trained in Content Management Systems (CMS) to update the website. They also helped brainstorm new topic ideas for Care2's blog, Frogloop, that discusses online advocacy, member recruitment, and fundraising issues.
• Marketing and Communications: In order to create "viral" member growth, interns investigated ad placement opportunities, determined strategic search engine keywords, and created new e-cards and petitions. Interns also helped Care2 grow its nonprofit client base by assessing sponsorship and participation opportunities at nonprofit conferences and by conducting analysis to identify new nonprofit sectors that Care2 should explore.
• Competitive Analysis: Interns have profiled progressive blog sites and other online media outlets used by nonprofit groups for advocacy, list growth and fundraising.
• Research, etc.: Interns researched current events, wrote blog entries, interviewed nonprofit professionals and assisted in the creation of online surveys, podcasts, feature articles, MySpace type strategies and made recommendations to guide development of new "Web 2.0" services and identify process improvement opportunities.
