America's Favorite Animal Shelter Contest

This is where I adopted my dog Dexter, who is now my service dog! We love him so much. He is the best!

The staff are very caring. The shelter provides great assistance to pets in need of protection. They have excellent programs that really help the animals to find good homes.

I have 2 cats and a dog adopted from the KWHS. My first cat was there for over a month before I adopted her, but there was never any chance of her being euthanized. The Society had her inoculated and spayed before I got her. This shelter is so clean and responsible. They take excellent care of the animals and have started spaying and neutering before adoption. This ensures that all the shelter animals are responsibly neutered before going to their new homes. They also have wonderful events throughout the year such as the wag-a-thon dog walk, Surf-Dogs where dogs are allowed to frolic off-leash at Bingeman's Waterpark, Dogtoberfest (takeoff on Oktoberfest) and other fundraising events to help the animals. They also have education programs for children on responsible pet care, and much more. I can't say enough about the amazing work they do.

I adopted a great dog from KW 15 years ago. The shelter just keeps getting better and better.

I found a dog that had been badly injured and the shelter staff and administration worked with me so he could be saved, get the medical treatment he needed and go on to a better life - even though he was old and they see injured animals every day that they sometimes may not be able to help. Working for the Humane Society must be rewarding at times, but also heartbreaking, I commend them and the wonderful work they do on a daily basis. The KW Humane Society is an amazing organiztion that should be rewarded for their work.

Very nice facility! Huge changes since I had been when I was a little girl. The staff are great and very friendly. Love that they do their best to find homes for each and every (healthy) animal, no longer how long it takes!
