My awesome tortoise-shell kitty met me here 11 years ago. She immediately grabbed my fingers through the cage and I knew she was the one for me.
HES is working to become a No Kill Zone. Winning this award would go a long way.

HES has a super-dedicated staff and very caring volunteers all working together to provide these wonderful animals with everything they need as they wait for permanent homes. The shelter has made tremendous progress and continues to move forward toward the goal of no more homeless pets. It takes love, time, and money to stay on the path. HES has the love and they make the time. These funds would be a big help!

The Humane Educational Society is a great shelter! It went from 5th highest kill-rate, to 5th lowest since the Executive Director, Guy Bilyeu, has been there. They have done many renovations to make the shelter better for the animals, staff, and clients; such as putting in new kennels, painting the shelter bright colors, and doing-up Education & Grooming Centers.
They rely on their wonderful, hard-working staff and volunteers. The staff works very hard to keep the shelter clean throughout the day and make sure the pets are comfortable in their kennels. The volunteers run many programs that help the animals get adopted. The Walkers walk the dogs every day of the week to make sure they can get out and stretch their legs. The Socializers train and play with the puppies and kittens, as well as the adults, to make sure they are used to interaction and have some basic manners for when they go to their new home. The Bathers keep the pets clean and prep them to be adopted at PetSmart on Saturdays. There are many other programs run by volunteers that help the pets get adopted into loving homes.
The shelter also hold many, many adoption-deals and fundraisers. They have the free adoptions in the month of December, $14 adoptions in February, and various black-dog adoption drives throughout the year.
But, despite all these changes, there is still so much work to be done at the shelter. Every vote is one step closer to a better shelter!

Every precious dog and cat deserves safety, love, a life, a family. But it doesn't always happen that way. So HES steps up and provides the safety and care with a promise to be there for as long as it takes to find that forever family. The staff and volunteers of HES could not be more committed these furries, but their time is not enough. Dollars and resources are needed for them to deliver on that promise. Please help them make it happen.

Humane Educational Society of Chattanooga has many GREAT dogs and cats up for adoption. Volunteers spend many hours working with these animals to make them very adoptable. With these funds we can educate the community about proper care for animals, about Spay and Neutering for healthy animals and finding forever homes by making the stay in our shelter just a very temporary home for all.

Everyone at HESC are so kind and care so deeply about the animals. The facility could certainly use the money to make updates. They do the best they can with what they have, but they workers and the animals deserve so much more!
