The staff at the Dearborn Animal Shelter does everything it can on a limited budget to give every animal a chance. Dogs and cats are routinely inoculated and medicated if needed as soon as they come in, not just when they've been deemed ready for adoption. And the DAS does not euthanize animals due to space limitations, but runs a thriving foster program. These people are dedicated!

We adopted our Bulldog mix from the Friends for the Dearborn Animal Shelter. The staff there is very helpful, caring and concerned about the welfare of the animals in their care. They go above and beyond helping the animals there to find their forever home. Although we've since moved from the area I would definitely make the trip back to adopt another pet.

They are very concerned about the animals welfare and well being. I adopted my black lab mix from them and they were so willing to help me get her. I live farther away and they were just great with my situation. I will definetely go back if i want another pet.

This is the best shelter around Everyone is committed to the animals & everyone is kind & caring to animals & people alike They are a no kill shelter giving a home for the duration no matter how long that is Of all the shelters out there this is the one I chose to support They educate, train, & make it possible for there to be forever homes for the animals who wind up there I cant say enough about them They deserve to win !

I love friends for the Dearborn Animal shelter because they try to find homes for all animals that come in their doors. They don't put down helpless animals just because they run out of cage space. They are kind, loving, knowledgable, and work very hard to care and raise money for these helpless animals. They are community oriented and have a wonderful staff and volunteers.

I Love the Dearborn Animal Shelter because not only do they help animals in need but they involve the community as well. The community involvement allows the shelter to provide even more care for the animals! We adopted our beautiful cat, Bella from the shelter. Our daughter also volunteered for the shelter - they have a wonderful volunteer program for kids.

The people that work and volunteer at the DAS really love and care about animals. For a small, outdated and underfunded shelter, the work done is huge, and amazing. I volunteered with them for 16 yrs and learned so much. Even under daunting circumstances, e.g. numerous cat hoarding cases and the massive chihuahua rescue at the same time with limited space, the animals were lovingly cared for and found homes.

We have adopted 3 very "good kitties" from the Dearborn Animal Shelter. The staff there is very caring and very concerned about the welfare of the animals and they are very involved in the community educating the residents about the importance of spaying and neutering. They also have a program where they work with local veterinarian to offer discounts on spaying and neutering,

This is a wonderful shelter! They are small, but they do so much despite the fact they get almost nothing from the city and rely on donations and volunteers. Two of my three cats came from this shelter and I couldn't ask for nicer kitties.

Dearborn Animail Shelter is a terrific shelter. I adopted my two furr kids from there Allie & Izzie!! Two beautiful cats. The staff is great to work with and they are aiming to improve the shelter at all times.

They work tirelessly to help every animal that comes through their doors, they are in the community educating the public about the importance of stopping unwanted liters, being a responsible pet parent and the beauty of getting a recycled pet rather then going to a breeder or pet shop. They receive very little money from the city and rely on the money rasied to run the shelter. They have an amazing base of volunteers who do all they can for the animals. I am proud to be a part of that group of volunteers and would like to see all of the effort and hard work pay off for the animals at the shelter.
