The CPCP is a 17 year old program which rescues feral and homeless cats from the campus, the pound and the community. The program has a shelter on the Cal Poly campus where cats are socialized, if needed, and adopted out. The program is run entirely by volunteers which include students, faculty, staff and community members.

The Cal Poly Cat Program houses ferrel cats and ones just too old to be adopted. The cats have a beautiful home that could be added to with some extra funds. They have an outdoor area to be in the fresh air and sunlight and cat condos to sleep in. It is a very friendly environment of 60+ cats ranging from kittens to seniors. It is a quiet place I love going to just to spend an hour there petting the cats and destressing. I miss my cat at home and it is a great way to feel better!

I love the Cal Poly Cat shelter! They take in cats, and find stray cats around campus and give them a place to eat and drink. They also look for people to adopt the cats and kittens. They keep the cats that they cannot finds home for and they love all the cats, feral or friendly.

The cat shelter provides a wonderful place for cats who don't have a place to be cared for. It is an amazing program that any student should be honored for being a part of.

The Cal Poly Cat Program controls the campus cat population (and therefore rodent) with TNR, takes in abandoned and stray cats on campus and helps them find homes, brings in older cats from campus to be cared for in their last years, and reaches out to the community, helping with cats needing care and homes throughout the area. Through the use of student volunteers, kittens and cats are socialized, readied for adoption, and helped to find homes. This also gives the volunteers opportunities to hone skills in animal work, and to spend time with animals like those they've left at home... a benefit to all.
