It takes very special people to care for our avian friends and they need all the help they can get. This shelter helps the birds that others have decided aren't worthy of the care they deserve .. Please help them help our avian companions..

Any shelter that believes in taking care of animals and respecting them is a shelter worth bragging about.

Birds are extremely complex, and social creatures. Too many people dont understand the emotional needs of a parrot and these birds end up in shelters like Wings over the Rainbow. Thank goodness there are places for these birds to go, to be healed physically and mentally, so they can learn to trust and love again.

There are so many parrots who end up in shelters because of bad, uninformed choices made by their owners. Wings over the Rainbow not only provides food and shelter for these amazing, sentient birds, but also provides their medical care (whose costs can be substantial). They present programs and visit area schools to educate the public to the kind of investment and patience necessary to create a successful relationship with these challenging but rewarding birds. There are already too few shelters willing and able to provide their necessary care and too few caretakers with the education and experience to run them. Please support WOTR !!!

They devote their love and time to heal parrots that have been through traumatic circumstances, this takes so much dedication, commitment and patience, working with parrots is challenging, they require mental stimulation, exercise and the correct diet. Anyone willing to take on those responsibilities for many many abused parrots deserves to be recognised.

So few places are around to ensure that birds have someplace to go. They need all the help we can offer them especially in this economy when a lack of money is threatening to shut them down.

There are so many mis-informed people getting parrots because they are "cool"....but when the truth shows just how much work and how expensive these wonderful pets really are they often sit neglected in an often too small cage for years. Wings is one of the few places for these parrots to go to have a wonderful forever home.

Wings needs our help- economy has hit them hard and if they are forced to close there will be no place for the 200 sanctuary (abused and unadoptable) parrots to go. They are a no kill shelter and rehabilitate parrots into pets where possible but otherwise provide permanent homes for unwanted parrots.

This shelter is a haven for neglected and abused parrots and Deb Shell, owner, educates the public regarding bird care, handling, health issues and also works to prevent further parrots from the rampant abandonment she sees daily. She is a non-profit organization and needs help to keep doing her good works!
