Best Friends does not think twice about taking any animal in and helping them. Their medical team is amazing and help the animals no matter what the cost. The BF team will actually go to other states (if there is a puppy mill) and help the local animal shelters to get the animals medical treatment and homes. They are amazing.

I love that they have a TV show. I think that it really brings to light the welfare of animals. It brings focus on the plight of homeless animals but is uplifting. I know people who wouldn't have adopted but have since seeing the TV show! That's progress!

Best Friends is a haven and sanctuary for many special needs animals who would be killed other places. The animals are guaranteed a life-long home once accepted altho Best Friends tries to find each animal their own special home...their forever home.

It's about all animals--every kind, good or bad health, young or old. They're great at dealing with (and placing) animals, but could use all the help they can get. For many, it's their "forever home," and a pretty darned great one.

This shelter was incredible after the hurricaine in New Orleans. They helped so many animals and owners. They care for all animals, no matter what their condition and believe that all animals deserve a forever home, but those that don't get adopted can stay at their wonderful facility until they cross the "Rainbow Bridge"!

This is a wonderful shelter - several years ago they saved Nadas the dog that was put on death row for killing livestock. Every life is precious but if it weren't for Best Friends, Nadas would have been put down after being taken from his family and quarantined for 10 months. Thank you Best Friends

My favorite animal shelter is awesome! They help all animals, big and small because kindness to animals doesn't end with just dogs and cats. It also doesn't end at the sanctuary either. Best Friends has assisted animals world wide and continues to work towards a day when there are no more homeless pets! ^..^

Even though this shelter is not in the area I live in, I have been incredibly impressed with what they do and the services they provide. They also seem to have beautiful surroundings for many different types of animals that all learn to live with each other. They also provide forever homes for animals who would might not be adoptable. The provide permanent resting places for animals, and allow you to post your beloved animal on their website. For animals who have suffered so much abuse in their short lifetimes this sanctuary is a special place for them to live out their lives in peace with people who love. This is only a little bit of what they do. Thank you.

Best Friends goes above and beyond to help animals in need from all over. They will even provide a permanent home for those animals who are deemed not adoptable, either due to behavioral issues or medical problems. They train the dogs in their care, and they work to rehabilitate all animals (both medically and behaviorally) who need it in order to give them a second chance at a wonderful new life and hopefully a new home. I have sponsored several of their "Dogtown" dogs over the years and donated supplies to them as well.

Animals are non-judge-mental and Love without condition...and, at Best Friends they receive the same...with the utmost respect and care. I have been there several times. As a Utah resident, it is the place I am most Proud of in the Entire state, and also one of my favorite places on the planet...ever since the first time I went there.

Although I have never visited this shelter, I have heard nothing but good things about it. People in Utah need to be more informed about homeless animals. Many people in Utah are unaware of this shelter or any other in Utah for that matter. The shelters around town report overcrowding due to the economy and people being unable to afford the care of their pets. It is too bad there is not a food bank with free or very low-cost pet food-pets get hungry too.

They are in the forefront of the "no kill shelter" movement. They take in all kinds of animals, including the in-famous "Vicktory (Michael Vick) dogs", wildlife, bunnies, cats, burros, horses, pigs, birds, etc. Unadoptable animals also have a sanctuary there for the rest of their lives. With state-of-the-art vet care and TLC, Best Friends Animal Society gives animals and those who love them hope for a time when there are No More Homeless Pets. For 25+ years they have done this.

I've never been there, but it appears to be a great place, offering safe haven to many different kinds of animals, offering special services to outlying communities that don't have nearby veterinary services, as well as reaching out to other shelters to help with special hard cases. This shelter is just amazing in how it helps so many animals around the country and world. They have saved so many animals that otherwise would have been put down needlessly. I vissted out there and just loved their place and played with the cats and brushed them. I hope I can go visit again and volunteer for a longer period of time. Keep up the wonderful work that you are doing to care for all those animals.

This shelter is amazing. This is the shelter that took may of the dogs from Michael Vick's compound and rehabilitated them when others wanted them put to sleep. This shelter takes in animals that are sick abused and abandoned. The doctor's at this sanctuary operate on all the animals that need surgery to give them a good life, even if they are old and may not have much longer to live. They want them to have the best life possible, as short as it may be. I watch "Dogtown" on television and it brings tears to my eyes watching all the people at the sanctuary giving their all. They have a guardian angel progam also for animals that are seriously ill but donations make it possible for this sanctuary to run. This shelter is wonderful.

Best Friends is my ideal of a shelter/sanctuary for homeless pets. They care for unwanted, abused, unloved, animals as well as animals who are victims of floods, hurricanes, earthquakes and such natural disasters. I have had the priviledge of bring baby birds to them, and a found dog who had been abandoned in the Arizona desert in August! I have also had the priviledge of volunterring in the past at their wonderful sanctuary and spenind some time with their charges and stopping by Angels Rest - the on-site cemetery for much loved animals who had finally found love and hope at their sanctuary. Their education programs and their goal of "No More Homeless Pets" are awesome. I truly love the place and people who are lucky enough to care for our co-inhabitants and the comfort and love they provide to these wonderfull animals!

Best Friends Animal Sanctuary Society is a wonderful place that turns away no animal. The ones who are so severely traumatized or crippled or blind can stay there forever (life), if they are unadoptable. I receive updates faithfully from this organization and also a CD each year around Christmas-time (of the establishment and the animals which reside there). It just doesn't get any better than this. Best Friends was immediately on the scene to recue thousands of animals after Katrina. And then they published follow-up stories about reunions. They had "Dogtown" on National Geographic a a while ago. Best Friends was the only shelter that took in all of Michael Vic's pit bulls and rehabilitated them. Most of them have been adopted. Any animal not adopted has its forever home at Best Friends. We should all be so lucky.

I find their compassion and professionalism such a joy. Most of all their undying empathy, complete and unfailing love for the animals that come to the shelter in various conditions some simply having lost their long-time owner under sad circumstances. Most of all Best Friends accepted Pit Bulls from Michael V.'s dog fighting 'business'. That alone is enough for me to wish that they are honored and win this contest. Bon chance.

I love best friends because after driving out to Utah ...I hear people bragging about them....after driving through Navajo land and seeing all the abused and neglected animals...I realized that they have a lot of work a head of them. I contacted the sanctuary and they spent an hour on the phone with me explaining the struggles they have with helping the dogs of the natives. I wish them all the luck....what I saw out there was horrific! Dogs and cats litering the highways - dead. I was in shock....I couldn't believe that this was in the United States! If a Tasmanian Devil needed shelter, they would provide it and then seek injured companions so it wouldn't be alone. My wife and I visited the site in 2000 and we still are amazed at all they do, year after year. More than most people, they make me feel proud to be a human who cares for other animals. Acres of land, dedicated shelter structures, vets on-call and on-site along with all the dedicated staff is just fabulous. Zoo managers should visit to see what can be done when everyone cares. Sometimes, it must be necessary for an animal who is so terribly injured to be released from it misery. This is one home where they rare conceed defeat and then are as humane about the process as they can be. Mostly they take fragile lives and bring them into a nurturing situation where the animals thrive. We should be so good to one another.

They are a wonderful no-kill shelter sponsoring adoption events nationwide, checking out prospective adoption families to be sure the adoption goes smoothly for all involved. They rescue pets from puppy mills and before they will be euthanized....cannot say enough good things about them. Friendly, know their business well.

Best Friends is a wonderful place. Everything you can think of to make the animals life better has been done. They have sent volunteers during natural disasters like Katrina. They took in 22 of Michael Vick's dogs that were going to be euthanized. I love visiting and helping out!

They take in all kinds of animals and give many of them their last chance of surviving. They all love the animals and for some it's the first time they've known what love is all about. It's a great organization.

They way they take in the animals with them as their only chance of living. A last resort for them. They work with them to allow them to be adoptable. The people that work there are wonderful.

I love Best Friends and volunteered for 15 months because of the humans who help the animals. Francis and Silva Battista come to mind first (who would allow a freightened canine to pee on the dining room table until he became comfortable? Others who most impressed me with their caring are Faith Maloney (a beautiful lady), Elizabeth Oreck who spends ALL her energy rescuing puppies from horrendous puppy mills, Kristi Littrell who always makes certain the beautiful four legged creatures go to suitable homes, and last but not least Jen Reid who never fails to make certain the equine guest are comfortable (watched her many times 'fix' Clyde's feet). A trainer named Jen S who is fantastic. Many of the dog caregivers along with the cat caregivers whose names are too numerous to mention impressed me so completely. I have to mention Vivian who was a lover of the felines...

Best Friends has gone to the disaster areas such as Katrina and the Middle East (Iraq) to rescue animals caught up in turmoiled situations. They rehabilitated 23 of the Mike Vic's dogs and televise DOGTOWN on Animal planet. The have the most beautiful pet cemetary I have ever seen...it acutally brought tears to my eyes. Angel Canyon in Utah is the utmost for the angels that are brought there to be rescued and brought there to be laid to a gentel rest after a neglectful life. If anyone has a chance, please go to Utah and visit Best Friends...you will be in awe.

Best Friends helps animals in so many ways that it's hard to list them all! It helps prepare adoptable animals for their new forever homes and provides loving homes for those who are never adopted. It rescues animals after disasters. It provides medical care for animals that would otherwise have to be put down. I could go on and on!

The keep all animals with great loving care - even the "unadoptable" ones. Old, sick, feral. All cared for and treated with loving kindness and respect. And they went to Louisiana and rescued many animals after hurricane Katrina.... and many other disasters and situations in which animals have been maltreated. They take them all in and keep them for as long as that animal lives a natural life, if no one adopts them. They do so much wonderful work there!

They took in 23 of Michael Vick's dog and are rehabilitating them so they can go to forever homes. I know all will not be leaving Best Friends, but will not be put down! I have visited there and saw how the staff and volunteers care for all the animals there. Best Friends has taken in animals after disasters. They never give up on any of the animals there. There was a dog in this county that was a livestock chaser. The judge sentenced him to death unless he could be placed out of the state. Best Friends stepped in and took him in. They truly care about animals. They operate on donations and not on any government aid.

They take in unadoptable animals, and if they are not able to find a "forever" home, they care for them for the rest of their lives in a no-kill shelter. They rehabillitated Michael Vick's dogs, and spent months in La. and Miss. caring for lost animals after Hurricane Katrina. We gave a Best Friends dog a forever home, and are so glad!

Crystal was in a house fire when she was 8 weeks old she barely made it out alive. She was rushed to Best Friends she spent 4 months undergoing multiple surgeries without the TLC they gave her she would have died. My friend adopted her from Best Friends...she is one of the most wonderful puppies and has no idea she looks different she runs and plays as if nothing ever happened to her. Best Friends helped her though her horrible ordeal now she lives a happy life with an amazing family. Best Friends has saved and helped many many other animals!

Best Friends has a top notch facility unmatched anywhere in the world- a true sanctuary and rehab center for ALL types of animals -- from cats to dogs to birds to horses and even pigs. What attracted me most to them was that the majority of their contributions are invested back into the animals and their rehabiliation and not into administrative and fundraising costs like some of the major shelters in America.
