Ellan Vannin - The Isle of Man is a beautiful country steeped in Viking, Celtic and pre-historic heritage and culture over which an aura of history and mystery reigns and whose folklore abounds in legends, superstitions and sagas unlike any modern western country.

Even the railway, the tramways and the horse-trams all date back to the 19th century and the historic sites bear evidence of 5'000 year old and older habitation. 6 to 800 yr old sites are almost modern estates in comparison with the Bronze Age and Neolithic treasures of which there are plenty.

The purpose of this group is to share with all interested, the beauty, heritage, culture and day to day life of the island with those not only of Manx descent but all who are interested.

It is primarily a information group, sharing in a positive light, what the Island is, who the people are, why it is truly such a special place and how the Isle of Man came to be the place of uniqueness that it is today.

General and appreciative comments are most welcome and postings on new topics encouraged.
