I want to share my love for our Lord and Savior Jesus, here on this Group "Salvation" which I have only recently joined.
I am new to Care2 and am looking forward to sharing and caring with other fellow children of God, where we, together, CAN make a difference in this "falling" world, before Christ comes to take us home.
I live in Australia, born in South Africa ..... and you can read more about me on my profile page.
I look forward to meeting a lot of people who have an overflowing LOVE to share.
You invited me to join your group on the care2 page! Here is a little more info on my charity! If your followers can visit my website @ www.getoutthebox.org or leave a donation to help us get off our feet and help at-risk youth that would be a huge blessing! Below is a email that will give you more info on our site!
Hello, My Name is Naeem Callaway and I am the Founder and CEO of Get Out The Box Inc., a 501(c)(3) Non Profit Organization that is dedicated to educating and mentoring at-risk youth in low income and rural communities. I am pleased to announce the official debut of our Innovative Youth Organization and the official launch of our Amazing Website. Please visit us at www.getoutthebox.org to learn more about our organization and what we plan to do for the youth in our community!
Why do we want the Youth to Get Out The Box (introduction)?Let me paint a picture for you. Let me take you inside the box. Inside the box there is hopelessness, drug use and violence, teen pregnancy, low self esteem, and no parental support or guidance. Inside the box, poverty is pervasive and it has created the illusion that there is no way out. This illusion creates anger and frustration within our youth which leads them down the wrong roads that takes years and greatness from their lives.
How are we going to address these problems? The Get Out The Box Team(Naeem, Sakeenah,Ruby,Etta, andRobert) wants to go into the box, into these communities(The First 100 Days Movement)and insert mentoring(Real Talk, life skills),education(College 101), the arts (Teen Renaissance), and give the youth an opportunity to travel outside the box (Backpackers, Teen Fit Nation,Latinos Unidos ). Our Organization will also work closely with the schools and be there to motivate and inspire (inspiration,Inspiration part 2) the youth in the morning before they enter the classroom and be there for them in the afternoon to reinforce what is learned in the classroom. We want to show the youth the power of education and to teach the youth that there is more to life than their hood, block, or negative reality.
Our Organization is not a 9-5 youth organization because the problems our youth face is not a 9-5 problem. We are a 24/7 youth organization. Our Organization has a Youth Hotline that is open for the youth and parents 24/7/ 365.We are pleased to announce that this line is officially open! We also have a Confession page that the youth can access. This is in place so that the youth can ask questions and share their problems anonymously online and get answers to their situations (Confessions)! Please visit us at www.getoutthebox.org for more information.
How can you get involved? You can get involved by donating to our cause. You can do so right now by clicking the donate button on this email or by visiting our website at www.getoutthebox.org. We are asking each of our supporters to donate $5.00 to our cause. This small amount will help us run our programs for the youth in our community! Donations to our organization are tax deductible! You can also help us by forwarding this email to your friends and family or by postingwww.getouthebox.orgon your website, Twitter, or Facebook accounts. This will help us get our cause out to the community! We are also looking for volunteers and collaboration. If you would like to volunteer or collaborate with our organization please visit us at www.getoutthebox.org or you can contact me at ncallaway@getoutthebox.org.You can also volunteer your time online. Through our webinar page professionals like you will be able to share your wisdom and advice in the comfort of your own home or desk and will be able to inspire and help youth across the world! For more information visit www.getoutthebox.org. I would like to thank you in advance for your support! Let's Get our Youth Out The Box!
"When the sun goes down in Cebu the sidewalks turn into something that looks more like a homeless shelter than a walk way. People collect whatever they can find for bedding and go to sleep while dozens of "rich" folks pass by as if the homeless don't even exist.
Many times, I would find myself doing the same thing the upper class Filipinos did. "Just keep walking and try not to look," I would tell myself as I tried to come up with some excuse for not stopping to offer a few pesos, a snack or even just a hug. "
..,some untold stories from last year's (2008) mission trip to the Philippines..,
Often called the "Queen City of the South" and the Seat of Christianity in the Philippines, Cebu is the country's oldest city. Exploring Cebu City, one encounters a rich historic past. Cebuanos are extremely proud of their cultural and historical heritage, a legacy which has endured thru the centuries from the time the great explorer Ferdinand Magellan first planted the cross on Cebu's shore.
Among the culture of islands and islets that comprise the Visayas, one province stands out: Cebu, a unique blend of tropical paradise and business haven,
Cebu City is a highly urbanized metropolitan area with all of the amenities you in a modern city. From first class hotels to budget pension houses, high-end dining to cheap eats, shopping malls with international brands to inexpensive local markets, entertainment, nightlife, it's all here combined with a laid-back, relaxed, and friendly atmosphere.
Adventure travel and an active lifestyle- The year-around tropical weather allows you to enjoy your favorite hobbies and sports without interruption.
In order to redefine culture, one must understand what culture was before. In order to move freely into my future I must understand my past and how it is affecting my present.
