CODEPINK's Bring Our War $$ Home campaign
is a national effort to engage our communities and elected officials through resolutions, creative actions, and smart messaging on the cost of war and militarism and the need to redirect funding to public education, job creation, and other life-affirming programs being desperately hurt by the economic recession. Tired of endless wars abroad and endless cuts to services in the U.S.?
This month, we have a unique opportunity to work with our mayors to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and bring our war dollars home to rebuild America. Your mayor can help amplify our voices. Ask him/her to co-sponsor a mayors' resolution to bring our war dollars home! What do mayors have to do with war policy?
Mayors from cities with populations of 30,000 or more use the U.S. Conference of Mayors
to ensure federal policy meets urban needs. The Conference determines its advocacy priorities by debating and passing resolutions at an annual meeting. If we get enough mayors to co-sponsor a Bring Our War Dollars Home resolution, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will introduce and champion the resolution at the next annual meeting in Baltimore.Click here to sign our petition to help bring our war $$ home!
