Bird, Bat and Bee houses made from "up-cycled" catalogs!

These are awesome!

In a bid to creatively recycle waste materials, London auction house Phillips de Pury & Company has partnered with Adventure Ecology to invite a list of international artists, designers and architects to “up-cycle” the auction house’s waste catalogues and packaging into new habitats for the declining numbers of bird, bat and bee species in urban environments.

David de Rothschild, Founder of Adventure Ecology explains: “We believe that the arts has the ability to captivate, inspire and engage creativity for change. In order to create a sustainable future it will require us all to rethink intelligent design and to rethink innovative resource management and by partnering with Phillips de Pury on ‘The Birds, The Bats & The Bees’ project it is the first pixel in a much bigger picture.”

The three most appropriate designs for manufacturing will be chosen by Adventure Ecology and Phillips de Pury & Company, and later distributed through high-end premium retailers and museums. These handmade prototypes are on view from June 23 and will then be sold off at Phillips de Pury & Company auction house on June 27th. All proceeds will be donated to charity.
