I'm going to attempt to post some conversion tables here, but it may not work - tables don't seem to copy very well around here! So if this thread disappears again, it's 'cos I couldn't figure out a way to get it to work!

Here goes...

Thanks again Linda, I've used these conversion charts so many times, they are an absolute blessing.

THIS is the conversion I have to be careful of - otherwise I absentmindedly use the wrong measure: 1 pint - 2 1/2 cups - 600 ml - 20 oz I mix up US pints (16 oz) and quarts (32 oz) with British (as above) - and things become too wet or too dry of course. It doesn't matter much with soups and stews because one can always turn the heat up a bit (well, most of the time) to evaporate excess liquid OR add a little more to thin things out, but in baked good?

Oops! Yeah, I always forget that UK & US pints are different, so I didn't even think to mention it!

For the record: any mention of pints above is UK pints, which, if you want to be accurate, is 568 ml. A US pint, on the other hand, is 473 ml (or two US cups).

Also worth mentioning: it's best not to mix the units when you cook - if you start with metric measures, stick with metric, or, as River's discovered, you may end up with a sticky mess!

Once again this page has come to my rescue, thanks folks!

NutritionData.com now has a little unit conversion box on their homepage, so you can, say,  type in '1 cup' & find what that is in fl oz.
