Thats just the most selfish thing a mother could ever do. And i know from my own experiences how frightning it can be when people surprise you with their many secret facets..it makes it hard to know when is a good time to let your guard down to trust. Im no councelor but it sounds like you're still healing, and that %#&!*% takes ages just like falling in love and making babies didnt happen over night.
Unfortunately i think that way about men alot,i guess thats just the way the game goes sometimes, but i do just want to say that their definitely are women out there who have their %#&!*% together, who know themselves alot better and are stronger than that. I hope you meet one of them..
P.s i can believe that wont let you swear on this group page! of all groups we need to!
It's good to have some post here after a while. I'm sorry to hear the story from you. It's really tragic....
I may not be the best person to advise you. As I have some barriers in myself to accept love as well.
But maybe this might be something you could consider about:
A friend of mine told me that when the love that is really meant for you enters your life, automatically you will open up to it, without hesitation. As long as there's a hesitation in the relationship, that means you are not really ready for it. Or it might just not meant for you.
This is based from her own experienced.
I know this won't help much, but I do hope it may somehow helps you.
Best Wishes & May sunshine shines through your day.
I'm new to this community and I'd like to thank everyone for the warm welcome I've recieved. Well, I'd like to tell you my story if I may. In February 2006, I received a call from the mother of my children asking me to take care of the children for a couple of weeks. Thought yeah, ok, it'll be nice to have them a little longer than usual. That was the last the kids saw of their mum for a year. Now, she see's them once a month if their lucky. She is a new breed of mum, one I haven't come across before and don't think I will again. Her reason for leaving the children is, believe it or not, her boyfriend doesn't like children. Ha, what a joke. But anyway, the children are fine about it now after a long hard battle against tears and fears, but what its left myself with is a total distrust of women. If any start getting too close they get the door slammed on them. I don't want to do it but its a subconcious thing, a barrier I have to break down. Sometimes I think I'll never love again because I won't allow it to happen. I know there are some good women out there but this one selfish act by my ex has absolutely destroyed the love I feel in my heart. Is there any way to rebuild a broken trust, not in an individual but in a whole gender?

Hello everyone. My name is Jo Ann. I am divorced and have been for over a year now. I suffered at the hands of my ex husband, and spent time in women's shelters on more than one occassion. I still sometimes have flashbacks of events that forever changed my life.
There is one thing that I am forever grateful for though, and that is even though what I suffered was horrific, it was definitely a learning experience for me. It also taught me what to look for in new relationships as well.
So, having said all that...I hope to make new friends here. If any of you have ideas or advice for me in my healing, please let me know.
It's good to see new faces & hopefully the conversations will pick up again. It's been a really busy summer here and I've been a bad host by not being on the computer at home much
So... new members & hello to those I haven't seen in a while
