Door to Door Organics? February 23, 2007 3:08 PM

I just saw an advertisement about this company that delivers a carton of fresh organic produce to your home once per week in the midwest. Has anyone tried this?

Also, has anyone tried the farm co-ops?

I have been doing business with this company since December ... and have been very happy with the service and the food. They do obtain products from a variety of organic suppliers, so some of the foods may or may not be "local" to your area ... if that is important to you at this point. We receive a box of mixes fruits and veggies once a week (you can choose how often you'd like a delivery ... and can make the whole order custom or choose a standard package and make substitutions). Everything has been great ... but the bananas don't ship well, in my opinion (we usually sub pears or apples for bananas). You can schedule a break in your deliveries if you want or need to (vacation, etc.). Any time I've had a question, I have received a prompt answer. I've never had a problem with billing accuracy. The experience has been a good one for me and my family. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply Jennifer. I always like to get an "unbiased" review before I try something. I think I'm going to sign up and see how it goes.

Man... February 25, 2007 8:07 PM

Wish they had that in NJ...I am having trouble finding anything out here. Even at the Commisary(military grocery store), the only herbal things they have take up one small end shelf. Any one know of a good place in southern NJ to get good herbal everything and organics?

Melissa - I think that Door to Door delivers across the country ... at least on the eastern side! They're based in Pennsylvania. I'm not sure where you're living precisely, but I lived in NY for many years ... and there were lots of resources for organics. If you don't have a local store, you may want to run a search on co-ops in your area.  [ send green star]

I got my first order today. The quality of the fruits and veggies was outstanding, except for the bananas as a previous poster mentioned. There was quite a bit too.I've not seen organic produce in the store that looks as fresh as this did. So a definate thumbs up!  [ send green star]

    CSA July 21, 2007 12:10 PM

My chiropractor has been involved w/ CSA's "forever" & has been urging me to go totally organic by joining one too. In the Washington Metropolitan Area (WMA), there was a news segment on NBC4 on CSA's. A follow up article was posted on their website in the "Going Green" area w/ a link to Local Harvest (

CSA is a term meaning community supported agriculture.

This is when a customer buys a share of one farmer's crops for a season. Then, once a week, the customer gets a bag or box of fresh produce delivered to them.

I hope this is helpful...I've only just started.
