Hello MR BEAR, MELANIE, BEN and all dear friends I see here already! Thanks a million BEN for the invite. Gorillas are special, love them and hope to learn a lot about them and also be of all help that the group may need.
It is great to have a group dedicated to these Gentle Giants! Thanks.
Supposed I am 94th... Thanks Marcin for the invitation.
A beautiful group. Will be honest though, I will only visit it from time to time. In fact I am already a little overcommitted and I feel always guilty to join and not be able to bring my share. But I'll be there and I dutifully click every the race for the primates.
Stay tough.
Benny
Whether it's in Bwindi National Park in Uganda or in the Virunga mountains, the Gorilla is a species at risk!Their natural habitat has become"infested" with the smell of money as tours are relentless, interfering with the tranquility needed just to exist! It pains my heart and cuts through my soul so see the insanity going on just to sell body parts on the market; I believe in natural healing and have used Chinese Herbalist medicine> BUT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! So I have "invited" myself to this group with my friend Melanie offering her welcoming words of thanks-Really the THANKS is from me to Mr. Bear & Melanie & the other hosts who initiated the Gorilla group!I am honoured and will do whatever I can to achieve "our" goals in favour of protecting the gorilla communities and their habitats.
Many years ago I found a paperback book in a garage sale called "The Education of Koko" by Francine Patterson & Eugene Linden (1983), for all these years I have held it close, respectfully! Now I have become part of the "circle" - their circle of Light - and I am grateful. rosemary
to all the new members! I've been away on the other side of the world these past three months with no internet so I wasn't able to come into this great group for a while. Now that I'm back, I'm looking forward to catching up with all my old friends, and getting to know the new people.
Thanks for coming, and make yourselves at home!!![]()
Even more new members! Great! A big huge welcome toTina, Charles and Bharat.

Thanks Anita for your warm welcome back. It's great to be on care2 again...three months without it is a long time!
But I got a lot of brainstorming done whilst I was computer-less, so hopefully I can turn some of those ideas into action that can help out the creatures that we love so much. ![]()
I'm just getting used to being back on this side of the world and I'm off again in two weeks - back to Australia, but it's going to be a permanent move this time so I should only be internet-less for a few days this time around. ![]()
Once again, the warmest of welcomes to all our new members. Thanks for coming and I look forward to working with you to make a difference to these magnificent creatures!

TO ALL MY GREAT FRIENDS HERE AT CARE2. I AM SORRY THAT I HAVE BEEN SO BUSY TRYING TO SAVE BEARS THAT I HAVE NOT SPENT MUCH TIME HERE WITH ALL OF YOU. I WAS TERRIBLY SADENED WHEN I SAW THE KILLING OF THAT GORRILA TROUP.
THANKS YOU ALL WHO ARE TRUE FRIENDS AND I LOVE ALL THE SUPPORT THAT YOU HAVE GIVEN ME.
Hello all Primate lovers!!
I am Tony from Nottingham, England reminding you that now is a critical time.
The European Commission (EC) is currently revising the law - known as Directive 86/609 - that governs animal experiments across Europe.
86/609 is a hugely powerful Directive that has power of life and death over millions of animals across the continent - setting out minimum standards for how and whether animals can be used in experiments.
A staggering ten million animals are used in outdated and wasteful experiments in European laboratories every year. The Directive is supposed to ensure "the protection of animals used for experimental and other scientific purposes" but the huge numbers show that it’s just not doing that.
There is a real possibility that with enough support the EC will ban all primate tests as part of the revised law.
Written Declaration 40/2007 urges the European Parliament to use the revision process of Directive 86/609/EC as an opportunity to establish a timetable for replacing the use of all primates in scientific experiments with alternatives. The Declaration will fall on 7th September and the signatures of half the MEPs in the Parliament is needed by then.
If you care about animals visit the following website to urge them to sign Written Declaration 40/2007.

If you want to do more:-
Please write to the European Commission and ask them to ban primate tests. To help, a prepared letter can be found at

The address is:-
Mr. Stavros Dimas
Commissioner for Environment
European Commission
