Any Arts & Crafters Here? November 14, 2006 11:23 AM
C'mon You guys and gals. I'm always seeing arts & crafters on profile pages. Don't sit on those beautiful creations. Get them out there for people to appreciate.
Put just one of your creative projects or works of art here for exchange. The more artisans who put some up the more we'll be able to exchange with each other.
Hoarding is not healthy. Appreciation of each others creations is.
Artsy/craftsy person here, but stuff I've done so far has gone to a private collection of a benefactor and aren't available.
But if somebody wants something short of, say, a bronze statue, I'll see what I can do to come up with something. Wood, paper, junk art is more my speed, ha.

I spend time doing arts and crafts. My favorite is making rattles and drums. I also want to start making beaded pipe bags and flute bags. I like making pottery when The supplies are habdy. I also knitt, crochet and do counted cross-stitch. My ultimate craft goal is to be able to design and make leather garmets.

We said crafter, not crafty November 14, 2006 2:51 PM
just joshing.
What types of crafts. I used to hold free classes for kids in the summer who put colorful paper mache on all shapes ans sizes of bottles. They were cool.
You all will be able to tell that I am a crafter/craftster by my I love craftster icon. I like to stencil, collage, make ATC's, marble magnets, or magnets with beer caps, altered Altoin tins. i've done one screen printed shirt and I want to do more.
i want to learn how to sew. i got a knitting kit from a swap, bit i'm terrible at understaing how to knit. i want to become a really good drawer/painter.
Sherrie...... I know you were! I wasn't able to get back to post until just now.
I dabble in all sorts....quilting, beading, scrapbooking, crocheting, mosaics, cross-stitch, jewelry making.....I love to learn new things and a new craft is often what I end up learning.
So I've accumulated quite the stash of crafting items.....
I'm not so good w/art-crafts things. I do however sew quilts "when i have the time that is" Very relaxing for me & i'm a rodeo "part time" photographer-does that count??
No problem here with exhibiting but wouldn't you like to find something you can put up for exchange so then you can watch for something you might like to trade for that which you yourself need?

Hmm, if u could stomach a photo- i'd go for that. My quilts (not being selfish/greedy) is done more for my peace of mind kinda thing. BUT MY PHOTOS - i do not just for $$ but i just happen to have a good eye for sports photog especially rodeo . Hmm, bragging?? NOT - but yeah- i'll put up photo for trade- let me see if i can dig a decent one up thats not contracted ok.
Your work is intriguing, what medium did you use?

Here's one of my faves. I've made three of them so far and as always each one is unique. It's a rock for the base and a twisted clothes hangar with a paper-mache sculpted mask that has a nice design cut into it and a tin can top attached to the back where a tealight candle or a cone incense can be placed. the light/smoke flows from the cutout design and they are so beautiful. I'd probably sell'em for about $80.00 but please use your own trash and make one that you'll enjoy for years. I've got projects for all kinds of trash and a group for them all here on care2.
Oh, and just so you guys know I do collect little boxes and mini perfume bottles. I also have a thing for old junk jewlrey. It doesn't need to be wearable, I add it to my art. So bits and pieces are ok.

For all the crafters (Hi Fred!): The Craft Connection We have swaps in this group. However, sometimes items go "missing" in the mail. So for our next swap, I'd like to do ATC. This will save us money in shipping costs, and since it will fit into a regular envelope, there is less chance of things getting stolen (I'm guessing that thieves see packages and think "goodies") Any help in this area would be apreciated as I've never done ATC before (I've only seen them and thought "what a cool idea"), or anyone wishing to participate (Gimme B!) is more than welcome.
Jana explained it in The Craft Connection (which I just joined to see if I could find an answer to that question. She says:
"NEW SWAP IDEA November 02, 2006 8:57 PM
I have an idea for a new swap and would like some feedback, so let me know what you think and if anyone's interested. Artist Trading Cards This
would work like any other swap, except instead of sending crafted items
thru the mail, we'd send each participant a piece of cardstock that we
decorate. All cards would be the same size, maybe 4 inches x 5 inches. The only rule is that we have to use materials we already have. By
doing a swap with cards instead of items, the postage will be much
cheaper, and the possibility of our crafts getting "lost" in the mail
would be greatly reduced. So what does everyone think of that idea?"

I actually have several cards already made. I was going to turn them into blank cards for several little shops from here to Salem. Once again S!@!! happened and everything came to a halt.
I haven't even looked into this group for about two and a half weeks. If anyone got my network message a while back you would know that my oldest son was in an auto accident and almost died. He was in a coma for two weeks and just recently came out of it. I've spent several nights at the hospital dosing off holding his hand.
I'd love to get my work circulating around the globe "again" I had a great start several years ago. I'm supposed to have one of my smaller masks in a palace somewhere in Africa. I donated it to a group that was retracing the rout of the slave trade. Anyway, a friend sent me a link for a project that was getting a tour started for artists who work with trash. I'll share it here as soon as I find it. I have several pages of email to sift through.
I want to do an ATC swap too. Let's start up a sign up list. Being as it is the hollidays, we should allow enough time for people to get back from their vacations. How about the deadline for signing up is January 10th?

I did this doodle several years ago on a bar napkin. I saved it and turned it into a nice card. My son likes it so much He's actually claimed it as his own What a compliment hey! He also put it up as the Earth Smart Art myspace pic

This is an excellent time of year to recycle old artificial Christmas trees, and assorted decorations into wreaths. Millions and millions of artificial trees and decorations get thrown away contributing to the landfill mess all year long when people clean out attics and garages.
