Are these two about the same strength and use?
In truth I prefer Klonopin. It is a less addicting medication than Xanax; which means it can be taken by people with addiction issues...and it can be taken for a longer period of time without fear of complicating someone's other issues.
Yes, they are both anxiolytic and they both work well.
Klonopin is the most potent of the four most common benzodiazapines : Valium (Diazapam), Atavan (Lorazapam), Klonopin (Clonazepam), and Xanax (Alprazolam)
Clonazepam (Klonopin) is extremely potent and very physically addictive. Alprazolam (Xanax) may have better theraputic effect or "high", which may make it more psychologically addictive, but it is less potent, and far less physically addictive. I have taken all four, and I find Xanax to have the most beneficial effect. Valium doesn't seem to have any positive or negative effects on my CNS, and I didn't find Atavan all that pleasurable. I am currently on a Rx for what some would call a sub-theraputic dose, and it does wonders for my extremely mild agoraphobia. It also is the only one to make me "funny" as I've been told. My experiences with Klonopin have been that of memory loss, stumbling, and a horrible cold sweat when I wake up the next morning. Just remember that everyone is effect differently by medicine. If this is an consolation, most recreational bezodiazapine users, prefer Xanx.
