Anger as emotional communication February 09, 2011 7:33 PM

Im 18 years old and male today my gf broke down and cried to me about some abuse from her father throughout her entire life she cried in my arms and was shaking at times ive never seen her like that and just wanted to help her  some things i have noticed kinda make more sense now but i dont know. it filled me with so much rage and sadness it was overwhelming i kept it together till after dropping her off back at her house started pummeling the dashboard of my car to be honest after that i probly cried for an hour straight and only stopped because i forced myself to. i was also driving most of that time. I'm scared for her and have never wanted to protect someone so much in my life I litteraly cannot stop think about her, her dad, how upset she is and what hes doing to her life and i still don't even know everything.

well no1 will probably see this but I just really had to put this out there I've never felt anything like it.

Yours is the first post in a long, long time.  I am studying counseling, and what your g/f is dealing with is a basic component of counseling!

In this empathic model, what you are feeling, and your dash felt, is unquestionably emotional communication, but not at its most sophisticated.

Damage done by society is increasingly becoming a focus of the model developed from this group.  Here is the latest material if you are curous (CLICK).

The learning from the page is here: wikiversity => empathy model

The focus is moving towards a resource model, where the fight for the things we need in life is causing us to try to find happiness, or at least feel good in the wrong places.  Anti-empathic people get this good feeling at others' expense -- your g/f.
