Just down the track - in WA March 18, 2005 4:31 AM

Just wanted to endorse the words of a Care2 member who lives in Wickepin "just down the track" from Perth WA.
That's what they told me first visit to Oz about Albany which is 419km S of Perth.  Christiana is only 210 km - the sort of distance a digger goes to get a slab of beer! - make that 2 slabs as he needs one for the journey lol

Here a bit of lovely Western Australia - Home (in my dreams) to me

Lake Yealering WA >

Kangaroo at Dryandra Woodland

Dryandra Woodland

Giant Ram, Wagin
The whole of Oz is known for 30ft high plastic statues of no particular value or purpose.  Here a giant ram at Wagin (as if you couldn't find sheep without it lol)

Wave RockWave Rock, SE of Western Australia (a long 200km detour for exactly this ! "Just down the track mate!")

Long, Straight Road

The Nullarbor Desert road to Adelaide from Clancy who biked from USA round the world.  Great pics at this site

UFO Alert

The Aussies get bored on the plains.  Actually, you have to beware of airplanes landing on the road (really)

Border Village Sign Post

More 30ft plastic statues - This time in Norseman WA.  And signposts telling you its one helluva way to anywhere.

Eyre Highway

One guess where the Cessna lands!!

Enjoy Western Australia

My brother was telling me about endless summer 2 on the weekend and how they make fun of the fibreglass statues. I used to live across the road from one.  [ send green star]

Not a Galah by any chance Free? March 22, 2005 7:42 PM

Big Bird

Not to be outdone by the citizens of Eucla (big whale) and BorderVillage (big kangaroo), this is Kimba's Big Galah.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
