Guidelines and rules for this group April 29, 2007 9:41 AM

As most of you know, I am strictly against post deletions unless there is more than a good reason to do so. I feel very strongly in favor of our rights to say what we feel, even it means a disagreement or heated discussion here and there. But luckily we all seem to be on the same page here in our group, and have had no trouble in this realm. But nonetheless, there have been opportunities arise in which a set of regulations must be set forth. So I have come up with the small set of guidelines below.

Janet will also add her own rules to this, and since she is the main person in charge, please feel to ask her about anything in which you may feel needs to be addressed.

Thank you so much, and thanks also for your participation and support of this group, the animals, and our beautiful planet.

Billye

We all have to shop and buy things, and we are morally obligated to purchase our items from animal friendly, or so called "Green" companies as our budget allows. However, this group is for posting news items, and/or discussing topics of interest that will make this planet and its inhabitants live better lives free of suffering and pollution, as well as the protection of habitats around the globe.

There are members of this group who may be aware of, or may even be the owner themselves of a company that makes products available that help animals and the environment. I don't begrudge anyone making us aware that their company is in existence, but this is not the proper place for advertising any company, and no one here gets paid to advertise. So I urge those who may be the proprietor of a business to follow the rules and guidelines below about posting topics and advertisements about your business.

FYI: There is a site in which you can freely discuss any topic relating to animal cruelty, as well as exposing your company's vegan/vegetarian/environmentally friendly products without being called a Spammer. This site is called Cruelty-Free.com (http://www.crueltyfree.com/).

Spamming:

If you own an animal/environmentally friendly company and want to makes us all aware of it, then please feel free to post your information once. But refrain from making more than one thread about it within at least 6 months, or bumping it up without reason. Your company MUST NOT promote any harm to any animals whatsoever. Vegan companies are preferred.

Graphic Photos:

Please refrain from posting graphic photos, such as those that show extreme cruelty or gore, unless you state in the thread title that there will be such a photo, then please make the photo appear well below the text portion.

right on, billye, and thank you! May 01, 2007 9:12 PM

for the moment, i think that's our most important regulation.  other than that, just try to be civil to one another - not that this has been a problem, but the topics we cover here are ones that we tend to be passionate about.

while i'm at it, let me apologize for my absence recently; hubby is ill, and we're headed for another few fun-filled days at ucsf medical center.  i should be back next week, and hopefully will find some more eco-friendly publications in the haight-ashbury district to share with all of you.

Yes, very well stated, Janet!  Hope all goes well with your "fun" at the ol' ucsf.  I'll hold down the fort until you get back. Looking forward to your return.

Best wishes to hubby also.
