this morning I received an email from a georgia resident who has 21+ cats/kittens and that she can  no longer care for them all.

it's a no win situation. either she brings them into the pound --or she lets them fend for themselves (or as is quite possible in typical hoarder fashion--we will spend alot of time trying to help and then she wont surrender them--which has happened with other cases in the past).

the cats will keep breeding though she says the males are all fixed.....and only one female...

just needed to share some of the reasons I try to stay off my computer on the weekend so all the bad news hits me on Monday morning instead...

anyway, so far still only two kitties at the pound have had a rescue speak up for them but at least that will be one cage emptied.

and the same rescue is also taking two tiny kittens from henry cty ac -who otherwise would have been euthanized this week.

so little by little....

to all of those who are actively into rescue and have to deal with so many irresponsible pet owners, have to make and deal with so many heart breaking decisions, i admire your strength to manage to continue on as i know it has to be a tough job. not to mention that the only pay off is not monetary. finding a good home or a rescue to take in a homeless and doomed for euthanasia is a wonderful pay off but it doesn't put food on the table or pay the house payment/rent. in fact, rescue is a job that you most likely put money into to keep the job (gasoline, phone calls, etc). you are a dedicated and determined breed. you tend to remain determined throughout the many setbacks and heart breaks that you undoubtedly must deal with way too often. to barbara and those who are the ones actively involved and especially those in direct contact with the homeless animals themselves, i can not say enough so i will hope that less is saying more and end this with saying a simple 2 words:

the siblings 2318 2320 YEAY!! (their sib 2319 had been adopted last week)

b09 622 (no photo yet of this one--a kitten in with two other sibs so still 2 at the pound)

and ta daaaahhh

big big sigh of relief.

2302 went home with 622

2318 2320 went home together

both set of adoptions thanks to our posting volunteers for craigslist and kiiji

all four went  home with half price vouchers (though the 2302 owner might call us up for their free voucher according to the ads which we will gladly help with--just so happy that big guy found a home!!!)

okay susan, we need a pretty bulletin to find sponsors for these four kitties half price vouchers ...

And Sunday ---Ashley and wagner went HOME too!!! and Mercedes!!!!

and two black furheathens will be winging their way to wisconsin thanks to Izzy and her husband!!!

friday night  i purposely left my cell turned on because oh yes saturday  morning bright and early, Ryan in Georgia called me to report on that the volunteer transport supposed to be carrying the Wisconsin -bound two black kitties onwards ---well, seems the kitties were in danger of being eaten alive by the 3 dogs also on the transport. (the driver and the carseats were also in peril from those doggies.....so decision was made NOT to send the kitties with them....we were mistakenly informed the male dogs HAD BEEN NEUTERED...they were NOT....)

okay so im going on a short vacation. job opening---anyone???
