My husband and I have been active in the effort for single payer health care for a while now, and have complied many of our comments and letters on the subject. I wonder if you might be interested in reading some of them, and sharing your own. I think that sharing our thoughts and writings, and conversing on the topic think tank style, could result in much greater effectiveness of action and argument. Together we could build a library of sorts, easily referenced when writing letters, commenting or discussing single payer.
Why not start a topic called "Resources" and we can put them all in there.
Thinking out loud . . .
We can have some main topics that we try to keep limited to certain categories to make things easier to find over time:
- Action Items
Everything else would be more general discussion. I created those lables for the topics here.
What do you think?
I am still not familiar with the new group format, so I didn't even think about topics as a way to organize. Perhaps a thread for stories would be good too.
I also think that a place to discuss what we come across by way of arguments, efforts we have made to convince them, and the results would be a nice too. Sort of like what is going on in the introduction thread right now. A place to brainstorm, make suggestions for improvement, ask advice, that sort of thing.
I went through some of the comments I have saved, and am working on grouping them by subject addressed. I don't know if what I am coming up with would qualify as a 'resource' or not, though we us it as one. Maybe I should just throw some of it up, and see what happens.
- Action Items
- Photos & Video
- Open Discussion
We can always have as many general discussion topics as we need - And then put the best letters or talking points in Resouces so folks don't have to scroll through lots of discussion to find the best.
I think we should keep useful discussion out of Welcome - keep only real Actions that need to be done now in Action Items and only hews about new endorsers or helpul news items under news - though if you have noticed, I added some RSS feeds at the bottom of the home page that should provide some good resources and news.
Just thinking of down the road as new folks come in - how to help them find the most useful tools easily.
How do we make the group a valuable resource and tool in our effort to get Single Payer Health Care?
