White House Report on Community Discussions

The report can be downloaded in pdf format from here, but at 122 pages, and 18.7 MB, it can be very time consuming for someone on dial-up to do so. They recently also made it available online here.

I have been looking over the report. There are 23 instances of "single payer", and 2 of H.R. 676, which appears to be the only specific bill mentioned. All in all, it makes for interesting reading.

Thus far I have only one real issue with the write up, insurance professionals are grouped in with doctors and nurses, all being referred to as health care professionals. I have submited the suggestion that a distinction be made between care and insurance, and the difference levels of participation. Care providers, hospital and clinic administrators, insurance administrators, insurance sales, and insurance employees. The insurance lobby would no doubt pitch a fit, but if enough people register concern and a desire to 'know more', we may be able to spark change. Such a change in wording, if widely adopted, would be of great benefit, by undermining insurance's ability to be referred to as an authority on care.
