Here is our new thread....the other one was getting long.
A link to the old thread:
Vicky, I'm a big baby when threads need to be linked!
Hoping no drama llamas, and no off topic posts
The center is a place of stillness where power is not obvious because it is generated within.
It is to the stillness within yourself that you must turn. The power to direct your own life comes not from an outside source but from inside you. What you need to acquire is the ability to listen to the silence.
Stillness is not inaction. It is not immobility. The Sun appears to be standing still but is in fact moving at tremendous speed. In stillness you have time to consider thought, which is quicker than the speed of light.
The center is where all motion is in perfect balance and where all directions are held in equilibrium. So,the center is where to go to find greater perspective and to balance and harmonize what has been discovered "without'. The center is the SOURCE,sometimes represented by the symbol of wakantanka, the great everything.(cannot make the symbol,it looks like a side ways ,S but not rounded..
It is also your source, your wholeness, your everything.
we have visited the 4 directions to gain wisdom to find the center.
Will keep up passages from the book on a regular basis, like the elder meditations, but mine!!
....she looks like mi mother.....
Who does? The tattoo lady?I thought you were black...Jamaican.That is an indian lady. She is pretty. Are you mixed? One of my children are,not that it matters....long story.Tas,what is the significance with feathers?Do they mean something,of have powers?Sorry about all the questions,I just don't know.
FEATHERS ARE RARE NOW
but were holy/sacred/wakan(in lakota sioux)
the name of my boat that I live on is the sailing vessel Feather
so, I love them......and have a collection, that I need a federal license to carry from the ONAC (oglalla native american community) to carry sacraments
(feathers), for the native american put them on everything and worshipped the eagle,as well as the bear ,bison and wolf.
the eagle held a special place because it flew high to the sun,so had fire power in it....in lakota iyakA means feather or wiyakA,when used with a bow...
I need the license because they were federally protected as highly endangered
they are making a comeback, because indians refuse to hunt them even though they are no longer endangered like they were.
You have to have paperwork saying it came from your ancestors...
they call that a provenance.

GABRA,i AM MULTI RACIAL.3 RACES.MY MOTHER WAS NATIVE AMERICAN,NOT SURE WHICH TRIBE,AND EUROPE....NOT SURE WHAT COUNTRY.AUSTRIA?MY FATHER IS JAMAICAN.MY AUNT AND UNCLE RAISE ME,BECAUSE BOTH PARENTS DO NOT WANT A HALF CASTE.
TAS, I love the first tattoo....the indian man with the eagle on his head. Thanks for the explanation about the feathers. I am upset...I wrote down the indian name (not sure which tribe) of bison and TAS I was going to ask you for help in giving me the word 'Lover' in indian language so that I could use as my Care2 name "Vicky, Bison Lover". I cleaned off my desk today and threw a lot of papers out and the word bison was on one of those and I can't find it. I rememer that it was 2 words and began with Ee - (and I can't remember this 2nd word). Can you help? thanks.
I FOUND IT!!! There on the top of my kitchen trash can was some crumpled papers (coffee stained) and on one of the papers was the word for buffalo:
EE-NEE-WAH What is the word for 'warrior'. I don't think I'll use the word 'lover'. I'll be Vicky, the buffalo warrior, since I have fought for the bison for so long. Or maybe Vicky, buffalo queen?
Vicky in Lakota the name for bison is tatanka...which tribe do you want names of?
I don't think that the native American had a word for queen, the closest thing would be chief, chief tatanka warrior?
I'll get it right by going to the online dictionary, you can only look up 3 words a day
If you want to bookmark it , it's called nld online (new Lakota dictionary)♥
caught up so very interesting Tasunka thanks very much for sharing
look foward to learning more
Naca tatanka zuya
chief bison warrior
if you want the chief name for a war chief
it's Blotahunjka,I thought the shorter words are easier for your memory
that's if you want Lakota
tell me if you want another tribe,Cheyenne would be in the area of yellowstone
as well as Sioux, we are all over the mid to real west!
since the North is associated with things of the mind, ask yourself what you need to give away of your mental life in order to find truth and wisdom.
What areas of thought do you want to banish from your life?
the negativities?,the despondencies?,the hateful and destructive?
the lustful?,the greedy needy? the revengeful?
determine what it is you want to get rid of and what is it's polar opposite
remember the wolf?
By sharing with others inner thoughts and mental discoveries.
Because truth and wisdom cannot be locked away in a vault,it must flow or it will stagnate, wither and die.New understanding is received to the extent that it was passed on to others.

Native American Indian Shamans looked upon the centerr as the "eye"
of the window of the soul thru which consciousness looked out onto what was manifested. The pupil of the eye was the "black hole" the darkness out of which
light comes and the entrance to the inner life of the soul.
To be centered means to be in a state of calm receptivity. It is a condition that can be attained by focusing the attention on the center of your being.
The center of your physical being is at a "point of balance" a couple of inches below the belly button (where I do xi gong exercises to strengthen my back)
There the central control point is located. It is where your physical body was first knitted together after conception in your mother's womb.

Happy new year path walkers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TAS, thank you so much for the variations of bison queen and warrior, etc. that I wanted, and the links to the dictionary. Cheyenne and Sioux might have easier and shorter names that I will remember. I know you won't have time to give me examples so I'll try to find something in the dictionary if I can. I'm not being nosy but my memory is bad....I know you just moved to your new digs but now you are moving again. Where are you going (if I may ask) and when (or will you) be coming back? You mentioned book (above) and I am confused. Merry Christmas and Happy New Years if you aren't back here for a few weeks. We'll miss you. Oh, thank you for the 'center' information and all the pictures are very pretty.
June, I love the graphic you posted; such a beautiful quote.
Kaya, if you can take a picture of your wolf tatoo and post it. I bet it's very nice. Where will you put your lion? I like what you posted about fear, anger, distrust, etc.
Headed to the boat till New year.
Of course I would never leave for a long time without notice.
Have fun, TAS....Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to you, even though you will be back a week ahead of Christmas.
I left too and if you read the Tea ? memory, you will know a little more. I will not be back as soon as tas, but long time I didn't have that great oportunity to have real Holidays with a new friend.
Happy ... I can write when I feel for.
Please try to post in the appropriate threads.
I am south of the border, just getting settled.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend.
Thanks tas my very special winky one, lol.
You are south of the border, great, I hope you get out of the boat and maybe without knowing it is us, we will pass ...
Happy sailing and when I say sail I am thinking of Pete Seeger, lucky you are to have sailed with him, he is more than a folk singer... I used to listen to him often. He give me that smile and the joy. Huggies... take care sailor woman.
I received an email from my daughter, the baby is borned but she was so fast to write, WHERE ARE YOU? I told her, and please send me pictures and tell me more about her delivery baby, Kim had the baby girl.

June, it is in total agreement with the medicine path, especially the part about linking to mother earth through the center of our own.
Beautiful graphics Marie and TAS. I especially love both bison. The one you posted Marie has a small head; do they make different species I wonder. TAS, the one with snow makes me feel soooo cold! BRRRR! June, what a great video....sad but true.
Marie, it is up to TAS whether she wants your non-native picture/post with the picture of NYC here or moved to the chat thread. I know she wants this thread is for Native things so it will be up to her.
you do know my heart about the thread
if you can move the post ( still learning),please do
would love to get a clean thread with just on topic posts
Marie, please post in proper places,so we don't all lose it.
Thanks for the compliment on my picture, TAS and I'll be happy to move Marie's post to the other thread.
Marie,those are african water buffalos
the emoticon is a FUNNY way of saying DUH
we are a buffalo group,we should know the kind of buffalo (bison) that we are fighting for!!!
Marie, even though the ones with the curly horns aren't American buffalo, we will give you a thumb's up for posting an animal that is a buffalo (of sorts) lol I LOVE the bison head & quote below it. I think I will post it to Face so bison will get more coverage. Thanks so much; they are beautiful.
TAS, beautiful quote with the wolves on it. Thank you.

TAS, which of my names is in Lakota? Here are the words I see in the above posts: EE-NEE-WAH (Buffalo..which language?), Tatanka (bison in Lakota), Naca Tatanka Zuya (Chief Bison Warrior...which language?) and Blotahunjka (War Chief...which language?). How do you say Bison Warrior in Sioux? Oh, you said my name is in Lakota Sioux. I thought there was Lakota and also Sioux (separate). I didn't realize that they could be used together.
Oh, I love your quote tags above. Thanks for sharing those.

Hi June and TAS. Well the sleet is coming down, I pray for those out driving in it as it will freeze on the road. June, that is a pretty quote you posted above.

"WHAT ARE THE DYING SALMON TELLING YOU? AND THE DYING FORESTS? WHAT LESSONS ARE WHISPERED TO YOU BY THE GHOSTS OF THE PASSENGER PIGEONS, OR THE GHOSTLY ROLL OF THUNDER OF A MAMMOTH HERD OF BISON? ALLOW THESE VOICES TO INFORM YOUR ACTIONS."
~ Derrick Jensen, A Language Older Than Words
I once went to an archaelogical discovery of natives in Puerto Rico
there were stone la crosse playing circles and petroglyphs, the Cahuenga indians lived there, the taino indians and the arawak once lived in the islands nearby.
That's cool, TAS. Is that wheel made of several stones or is it somehow hooked together as one piece?
I don't know what tribe that wheel is from, but the Sioux one is different
almost like this one is inside out and upside down
grizzly bear= west
I just liked the graphic,!!!!
Native American Traditional Flute Music
Awesome flute music, June. thanks for the video! TAS, I love your animal rights poster and the valentine dream catcher.
I've always loved this song; is this Navajo TAS?
Same beautiful, haunting song, but with an awesome wolf video. I wish I knew what the words mean.

A very old but very pretty song.
I love the sound of the Indian flute
and drumming is therapeutic, dancing Native American style
is great a great cardio workout
I have a CD of all chanting,I use it to exercise to
foundation training is still being considered, reading the book
it makes so much sense, basically it's to stretch your muscles
correct posture and end pain in six weeks of 3 different levels of exercise
2 weeks each, and supposed to make the daily pain disappear?
More flute music (with chimes); so relaxing.
This post was modified from its original form on 18 Feb, 18:44
Is so relaxing, makes me want a massage, lol
Thanks for the music, Vicky!
NOW MORE THAN EVER IT'S IMPERATIVE THAT WE KEEP THE NATIVE AMERICAN TO THE MEDICINE PATH IF WE WANT THE BISON TO HAVE A CHANCE FOR SURVIVAL. ..
natives and non native alike need to exercise their ecological spirit, or the buffs are doomed.
Tatanka need our help, we need to preserve them, as they are national treasures!!!!

dst,arizona does not have it!
Vicky, that prophecy is subtitled in German, why???
I just hit 14,444 butterfly credits, SO WAKAN!!!!!!!!
I have no idea about why it is subtitled in German, TAS. I just listened to him and didn't notice. Congrats on all your butterfly credits...I'm sure you'll do lots of good with them. Too bad they don't have a bison cause to donate to. I think they have wolves but now they need wild horses and bison. I love the quote you posted sooooo true. Are you sailing now?
Oops I meant greenies
got almost 400,000 butterfly credits
I'll be on the boat Saturday. ♥
TAS, you have 400,000 butterfly credits????? When are you going to redeem them? Wow....so many! I keep thinking you are already on the boat. lol
All but a few thousand are already redeemed, I just found out that they expire, who knew¿
Sent you a green star to give you a few more. Hugs to all.I found my lost files here at work,no more interviews.yay! I hate conducting interviews,I want to choke some of these people who waste time when they are not qualified and think that because they can make any thing sound good they can come any way.Grrrrr!
the pic above, how many images do you see?
I see at least half a dozen between the head and the clouds
after this I think we need to start a new thread
wadda u think,Vicky,it's been awhile?

That quote makes a lot of sense, TAS. I love Mark Twain.
We went to the French Quarter yesterday for my mom's birthday and I took a pic of this sign.
