Poorly Pagans June 05, 2007 4:53 AM

Yep no matter who or what you are illness might some day come your way. There are many of you out there who suffer in silence. Some of us suffer from a rather debiltating illness known as IBS. This is the abbrivation for Irritable bowel syndrome and it is the most stressful illness I have ever come across however on a good note there are naturel ways to help this illness.

Do you like fruits and veg?  Well the tomatoe is a very good fruit ( and no I haven't got this wrong) for IBS sufferers as are any fruits or veg that contain very small pips. I beleive the cucumber is another fruit that can be used.

How do you drink your beverages? some IBS sufferers drink lots of coffee which I hate to say is not very good. The naturel chemicals in the coffeee bean can irritate the bowel thus causeing a rather upsetting result. Try drinking it black with a little cold water as I do and sweetners (I'm diabetic).

Teas that are herbal are very good for many things. Camomile tea drunk black with a bit of cold water and either honey or sugar or for those who aren't aloud sugar try sweetners. I do. Another naturel remiedy for IBS is peppermint oil capsulets or tea. Although I drink a cup of Camomile and Spearmint tea (from Holland and Barrett in the U.K) once a day and my IBS is not so painful nor do I have accidents when I am out.

Try it you never know that might be the answer to your problem.

Calling all Diabetics June 08, 2007 7:19 AM

There are two main Diabetic types

There is Diabetic type 1 and a type 2 both are the same although the difference is when they were dignosed. I am a type 1 which is the most severe type and I have had it since childhood. I am treated using injections (4 a day or more when needed).

Diabetics is a condition where either the pancrease doesn't work or only in part. Pregnant women and the elderly can get this condtion at some point.

I have found that in conjunction with my medication the drinking of Dandlion tea once or twice a day has helped. Also the digestion of bileberries is also good for the production of insulin. Word of warning if using any form of general medication and herbal treatments consult your GP/Dr as well as a rebitable herblist. I am luck in that my local GP beleives in using naturel substances for most things since one doesn't become so addicted.

Strees free inhaler June 11, 2007 9:52 AM

found this method not only works but is safe. All one needs is plain table salt and certain oils. The ones that work best are Lavender, Lemon balm, Euclaputus, Orange and any ones you like the smell of especially the flowery ones.

You also need a vial with a very tight lid, preferable cork or rubber but if you are like me cork would be better as it is a naturel substance where as rubber is processed from its original state.

first in a small bowl place five drops of two of your choosen oils with a teaspoon of salt.

Mix together.

Now spoon into the vial and close.

Finally cover it and use when needed.

Diabetes July 24, 2007 11:00 AM

I wanted to add that Type I & Type II diabetes are very different.  Type I is when the pancreas is not producing insulin and you need to inject it.  This is something you are born with and it normally shows up in childhood.  Type II is also called adult onset & the # 1 cause is obesity/poor diet. It has become VERY common in children due to the horrors of what we & our schools are feeding our children. Your body (metabolism) cannot process the amount of sugar and chemicals you are consuming and organ damage occurs over time, including the pancreas. Type II diabetes, if left uncontrolled, will eventually lead to the need to inject insulin. This type is very easy to control/eliminate with diet & exercise.  Goji juice is also very effective in regulating blood sugar in Type II diabetics as long as you make the necessary diet and exercise changes.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

Ladies and Gents this is the best thread I have seen in ages. As I am starting  The Pagan Temple with a couple other individuals this is the main reason we started talking. ALL of us were ill! We took our diet back to what mother nature would have us eat and most of us are doing better. One member lost 20 pounds. Anothers digestive track started operating properly. Still anothers alergies and asthma has calmed down.

Eating as Mother Nature intended is the first thing any Pagan can do to get in touch with their inner child from nature. What is the first work of a witch? "Heal thyself" So that is where I and a couple friends and family started on the journey towards The Pagan Temple.

You want to know what worked for us.

To lose weight:
All Natural foods that Mother Nature would recognized, whole grains like oats, fruits like watermelon, and veggies like brussle sprouts, an egg, and a yougurt a day. But as many veggies and fruits as you could ever want.

To Help the tummy:
One yougurt a day. Be very selective about the kind that it guarentees intesinal flora or make your own. Prune juice to get things going or psyllium husks. Whole grains. I don't just mean buy wheat bread. I mean eat oatmeal for breakfast (not instant) and bake bread with whole grain flour. Cut coffee to two cups a day.

Asthma Allergies:
No milk products. No white breads, pastas, or rice. No starchy veg like white potatoes. As many veggies, fruits, and whole grains as your tummy desires. Olive leaf, Fish oil, and vit C supplements.

I am glad that folks have a place to discuss thier illnesses and how we can heal ourselves. I am a great beleiver in herbs and naturel medication. Although I am not a qualified Herblist I hope to do a course and start my journey with Mother Nature at my side.

I am luck in that my neighbours have helped me in growing my herbs and naturel foods on the balcony. At present I have lavender, basil (third time lucky), oregano, pepper plant (not doing too well), mallow plant, Chives, Nastursums, Parsley and Mint. all I have used for different things in different methods. so if anyone out there is willing to share herbal knowledge with us please do so but start a new thread please.
