That is a pretty picture david peaceful my name is somy i like taking pic i have none of Scotland i will have next summer when i will be in the Edinburgh cant wait.
this is where i'll be what a bonnie looking place as they say.
(maybe, being scottish, i should say blue with envy......) I do not know edinburgh well but, should it be half as beautiful as some of the areas i saw this past summer, you will be truly blessed in being there, no matter where.
A week ago I returned from a trip in the UK and Ireland that included Scotland as well. I’m still preparing my photos for an online album, but wanted to share with you the most beautiful city I saw in my journey – Inverness.
Scroll the image left-right to see it entirely.
Yes its a long way off yet janet when i'll be going, i will be there for 4 wks and at least 10 days of that will be sight seeing, i will be in lochness to look for that monster, i dive and there is a diving centre there, hope i dont get eaten i will have lochness in my dive log if i survive! Inverness will be visited that day it looks LOVELY Cezar!
For me, it was a one-day trip to Northern Scotland, from Glasgow. I passed by Starling and Perth, surrounded by hills, open spaces and castles, and then I entered the mountains and the forests. Inverness is in a kind of gulf and is built around the river Ness, the Caledonian Canal and the waters of the North Sea. It looks like a convergence point for roads and people. It’s very windy and quite cold. It was a sunny day, but I think there weren’t more than 18 degrees C. Also, it was full of wildlife (I photographed a couple of seagulls and their chicks). The city is dominated by a castle and below it it’s the tourist info centre. It also has a main street and a lot of shops.
From Inverness starts the road that borders the Loch Ness, which is a very long lake. The road is not a motorway; it’s just a simple road. On the loch there are yachts and various cruise boats and is surrounded by forests. It was cloudy all day long, but not overcast. The clouds moved quickly and there were periods of rain and periods of sunshine and rainbows (I think I saw 3 rainbows in a couple of hours). At the middle of the lake, the road goes through 2 sights, where we stopped. The first is Drumnadrochit – a place where is an expo about the Loch Ness monster (I wasn’t curious to enter, but some of us did) and some souvenir shops. At some distance (must be a mile or two) is the Urquhart Castle. Below is a photo, as I saw it that day.
From Urquhart you still have about half of loch to see and then you arrive at Fort Augustus. Here there are some scattered houses and really, I didn’t know it was actually a community there. From here you go to Fort William, a place surrounded by high mountains but the forests become scarce and the weather really wet. Fort William has a landscape of its own, something quite bizarre for me. People do go to ski in the winter there. Then, following the road back to Glasgow, we encountered the barren landscape of Glen Coe. I’d never want to live there – only grass and marshes – but the high mountains and the mystic atmosphere is something that one never forgets. It’s a great experience – like walking on the Moon - the difference being the rain and the red-brown grass. Further to the south, you enter the forests and the mountains become smaller, and you see Loch Lomond, another long lake that seems to never end. The road becomes very tight and there is one spot that even has traffic lights that allow passage for only one car at a time.
I hope you’ll enjoy this region, Somy, and you’ll see all these places. My trip was very busy and fast, but in this area you must suddenly stop and listen and feel the nature around you. That is what I plan to do next time I come to Scotland.
