Clean VehiclesUCS activists have been busy throughout the spring on clean vehicle issues. Thousands of you contacted Honda, Toyota, and Nissan and urged them to drop the lawsuit against California’s breakthrough global warming regulations, while our Washington state activists played a key role in the adoption of cleaner emissions regulations. We also exposed a deceptive automaker ad campaign claiming cars today are “virtually emission-free.” UCS worked with our activists and allies to pressure the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to help replace more aging, polluting school buses, and urge Congress to correct the EPA’s antiquated fuel economy testing procedures. More…
Clean Energy
UCS and our activists have been busy urging our nation’s leaders to support a clean energy future for America. On February 17, renewable energy champions in the U.S. House and Senate introduced bills that would require utilities to gradually increase their use of clean energy sources such as wind and solar power. Meanwhile, the Bush administration proposed cutting more than half of the $23 million in clean energy funding that Congress included in the 2002 Farm Bill. UCS was successful in blocking similar cuts in previous years and we will push for full funding of the program again in 2005. More…Global Warming

For those of you who may not be aware, Mari is reffering to a couple of computer projects that this group is participating in - one to find cures for diseases, the other to study climate change.  We have a team - Bird Conservation - in each program. 

Information on each of the research projects can be found in the Red Pinned Folders - "New Focus Program" and "Second Focus Project"

The programs use "spare computer time" - it uses the processing power that is currently not being used by other programs running on your computer.

 If you like, you can leave the computer on and it will continue to crunch the information - just be sure to log onto the internet at least every day or two so that they will update and get more data to crunch.
