I'm so happy to have found this group! Being from Oklahoma i have spent my entire life around communities that mostly hate the coyote. I'm sorry to say i have seen some of the ways they are "dealt with" around here and it is sickening. I hope to help in any way i can.
Hi everyone. I didn't even know y'all existed unti I was reading someone's profile and saw it.
It was the perfect moment. For the second time in my life I've had a dog who accidently found coyote poison! The first was many years ago and he ingested 2nd hand poison. I pulled him through by feeding him vast quantities of milk (that's all he could eat) and carrying him out into the sun every morning and back in each night. He could walk, but very stiffly and with difficulty.
John dog was a 'coydog" who was born under the barn floor. He lived for many years after his exposure, but his eyes were set in his head and his balance and coordination were never right after that.
The second dog was my grandkids bright and happy young pet. She found coyote poison on a family hike and before we knew what was going on, she died.
I went looking for sites that would allow me to campaign against poisoning coyotes. If they go through what my poor dogs went through it is appalling. My feeling is that the poison should be fed to those who put it out! Okay so that may be a bit extreme.
I've never felt one way or the other about coyotes, they were just part of nature. But these events have changed my attitude. I look forward to exploring your group and finding petitions and websites.
Thank you Kat for the invitation. Glad to join!!! I will be back to have a look later when I have more time-- at work right now!! Again thanks for the invitation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thankyou SUSIEQ G.for inviting me, I live in the UK so i dont have much of an opportunity to see coyotes but when i was visiting death valley doing geology fieldwork i saw a coyote visit our camp and it was a really magical experience. So i definately want to help them and their habitats in any way i can.
Thank's Cat , Awesome timing ,lately on my daily walks I have been seeing a Coyote cross my path .This has sparked my curiosity . Maybe I will find some interesting information here . Like why he is out wondering alone mid afternoon .Pups maybe ? It is so invigorating to see an animal in the wild going on about it's buisness . We miss out on so much by not sharing .
I've already signed in but wanted to share a pic of my coydog, Sam. So much awareness and protection for these animals needs to be done because some states have bounties on them. I also have a lot of friends that hunt and when they see a coyote, they shoot them because they feel the coyotes are encroaching on their trophies (deer) which is so unfair! We must use all of our resources to protect our wildflife and with Care2, I know our voices will be heard! Sam was rescued from being drowned, along with her four siblings, in a five gallon bucket on a farm! Her parents were shot on a sheep farm nearby. The coyotes are getting such a bad rap and we have got to be a voice for these animals! Hugs...Leigh and Sam
Thanks for the invite. I am grateful for an opportunity to make a difference. I had a wolf/dog mix for years..it's a very different experience. Wild is wild. He liked to eat chairs and carpet and drywall too. His name was Nakai, I do miss him. Tahnks again, Rain
Thanks Kat, I'm still learning about the coyote from my own coydog. She's a lot of work because of her wildness, not your average dog. When she stretches she's sitting and lifts her nose high to the sky just like you see in pictures! When we are playing and rough housing her eyes will turn red. Anyway, Its good to be here!
