saving our rodent buddies!!!!!!! March 29, 2006 11:48 PM

I just wanted to say thank you to all who acted in behalf in saving our lovely rodent friends for signing the petition against selling our friends for food. I understand in the wild snakes eat them, but personally I think rats make better friends than snakes. I respect snakes, but only in their natural habitats. They do not make wonderful pets (they don't have it in their brains to remember us-honestly). Rats and other rodents make better pets.  [ send green star]

The snakes may be more graceful and "pretty", but cute and loving does go a long way.  Rats are people, too, but I'm not sure about snakes.  Snakes just do what they do, but I think rats think (sometimes).  I'd like to invite you to view the topic "After she crosses the rainbow bridge" on the ratfanclub. Of course, I wish we could take the live feeding out of the commercial market all together.  I'm not sure one way or the other if frozen feeding upsets me.  "Mice on Ice" is kind of like eating frozen shrimp or beef patties.  Live feeding the WILD city rat population wouldn't bother me too much.  I'm just a basket of contradictions.     bj

Exactly! Even if people think a snake is worth more than a rat, not more than one... after all, one rat doesnt satisfy it for a lifetime... like paying for one life (not even affectionate one) with like 10 cute, furry ones  [ send green star]

Yes, I do agree snakes are beautiful creatures but since I was a young girl I couldn't stand watching snakes devour a cute rat. Maybe I'm more inclined to have heart for furry critters. I'm sure a snake would make a good pet, but I don't think it's hardly fair to keep an animal constantly locked in a cage. God knows my girls get their romping time daily in a large room where they entertain myself and loved ones, grooming me daily showing that I haven't done a good job myself. A snake would not do that, unless it bit onto your ass! Rats are for more intellegent and deserve more credit than they get. I'm content living with my furry roommates as long as they don't chew up all of my nice shoes and handbags (they have already to some and I don't care).  [ send green star]
