Low Carb: A Healthier Approach September 10, 2004 8:49 AM

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original Thread: Another Low-Carb Approach http://www.care2.com/c2c/groups/disc.html?gpp=586&pst=20160#20160 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After several years of experimenting with different low-carb strategies, I'm now transitioning to low-carb "alkalarian" eating: http://food.alkaline-health.com It has made a world of difference in my own health, and might be of interest to others, especially those who are dealing with significant health challenges, such as diabetes, fibromyalgia and candida. The best starting point for learning more is to read one (or both) of Dr. Robert O. Young's books: ` The pH Miracle: http://readphm.alkaline-health.com ` The pH Miracle for Diabetes: http://readphmd.alkaline-health.com More excerpts from The pH Miracle are available here: http://intro2.alkaline-health.com Dr. Young's basic dietary guidelines are to focus on: ` high fats (good, natural), high greens and high water content vegetables ` low protein/low carb ` superhydrate = 1 liter of structured (alkaline) water per 30 lbs of body weight An ideal meal includes: ` 75% veggies, with as many raw as possible (a salad or "raw soup" is the ideal centerpiece for your meal) ` 25% whole, natural carbs -OR- protein (not both) In the end, each of us must find an approach that works well for our own unique needs. For me, this "alkalarian" strategy has helped curb my cravings for carbs, and has reversed several long-standing health challenges including indigestion, fluid retention, eye irritation, and 27-years of chronic bladder infections. Many others who have used this approach have also experienced dramatic results in terms of weight loss and health recovery. You can see their success stories here: http://testimonials.alkaline-health.com If you are interested in learning more, please feel free to let me know, and I'll be glad to share more....  [ send green star]
