I'd love to know what it is about gay marriage that scares the crap out of people.
Oh, I know all the arguments.
'It's not natural.' Well, if we were all still being natural, we'd be squatting in caves, eating whatever we'd found under rocks. Raw.
'Gay culture is a new fad created by the liberal media to undermine long-standing traditions.' We know this is true because gay sex did not exist in ancient times (i.e., ancient Greece and Rome).
'Marriage is a religious institution, defined by churches.' This is why atheists do not marry. And Christians certainly never get a divorce.
'Children must have a male and a female role model at home.' That's why our society has no single parents.
'Gay marriage is opposed by the Bible'. In a theocracy like the United States, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why you have only one religion in America.
'Straight marriages are valid because they produce children'. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.
'Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed'. The sanctity of Britany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage and "Who Wants To Marry A Whatever' would be destroyed.
'Gay marriage will change the foundation of society'. As a species, we can never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or the Internet.
And of course, the most common, the most logical, and the most persuasive argument of all:
'God made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve'. Since the Bible is the only evidence we have that He created anyone, and it is after all a second-hand report written by vested interests and translated and retranslated for hundreds of years, move to strike as hearsay, your honour. And irrelevant.
I find it funny that they say they are trying to preserve marriage! What they are trying to preserve is homophobia and prejudice! The only way their marriages could be affected by GLBT marriages is if one of the spouses was not straight and went to the other side, lol! I am amazed at human stupidity often and I shouldn't be by now, lol! Thanks Diane! If I got my emails I would be on here more, arghhh!
