I find these costumes very offensive October 17, 2009 11:27 PM


Here's an article about an orange jumpsuit Halloween costume labeled "illegal immigrant", which I find offensive for the following reasons:
1. Since people (including the police) frequently tag legal immigrants as illegal immigrants, this is a slap in their faces too.
2. I know a lot of immigrants and this characature is not fair to them
3. Being in this country without documents is not the same thing as being a terrorist at Guantanamo Bay
4. If this charicature was of Blacks or Jews, there would be legal action, court action, and every costume would be mandatoraly recalled- why should Latinos and other minority groups be treated any differently?
5. Hitler's destruction of over 6 million Jews started with this kind of charicature in businesses by the public
6. I know people who would respond to this costume by doing violence to immigrants
7. If you value civil rights, please express your disgust toward any businesses that sell these Halloween costumes- see article below:
