Resources October 20, 2007 1:29 AM

I thought it might be helpful if we listed resources here for help in this work. 1) IPS- Inter Press Service http://www.ipsnews.net/ "IPS, civil society's leading news agency, is an independent voice from the South and for development, delving into globalisation for the stories underneath. Another communication is possible." Among other topics, IPS covers Gobalisation, Environment, Human Rights, Health, Indigenous Peoples, Economy & Trade, Labour, etc. I've signed up for alerts to Indigenous issues, and to Human Rights. 2) I also belong to a listserve through Topica.com, through which I get news of many issues and events (you have to register first at Topica, which is free): List Information List Name News & Events For Native Americans, Alaskans, Hawaiians & American Indians (Indigenous News) Purpose: News of interest to Native Americans, Hawaiian Natives & Alaskan Natives (Indigenous News). This is a random briefing of items that I come across that are of broad interest to American Indians. News and action requests are posted as are the occasional humorous notation. The newsletter is designed to inform you, make you think and keep a pipeline of information that is outside the mainstream media Website URL: http://www.ncidc.org List Type: Announcement (read only) Subscription: Does not require owner approval Archive: Readable by anyone Created: Oct 01, 2002 Owner: andre cramblit To Join: Subscribe here: http://lists.topica.com/lists/IndigenousNewsNetwork/subscribe/?location=listinfo or send an email to IndigenousNewsNetwork-subscribe@topica.com Stats: 3894 subscribers / 2 messages per day Categories: People Society & Culture | Education ========================= 3) The Black Commentator- many excellent articles http://blackcommentator.com/ They were kind enough to give me a complementary subscription when I wrote to them and explained my financial circumstances (poverty) and that I am a homeless rights activist who also includes racism and social, economic injustice as part of the causes for homelessness 4) Global Circle Net (globalnetnews): (through riseup lists: http://riseup.net/ ) Subscribe: https://lists.riseup.net/www/subscribe/globalnetnews-summary "Countering major media spin on militarism, nonviolence, globalization, privacy rights, and global ecology in general. Free, noncommercial, independent of any party or organization. No spam, subscriber list is private. Much of our US/global news is from European or Asian sources, and some corporate/government spin is included simply FYI. Articles do not imply agreement with facts or slant or endorsement of sources. We strongly urge readers to use judgment as to sources and context. We have opinions but we don't make those judgments for you since one can never have all the facts. In fact, the most important news or underlying events may never even get reported anywhere. We include a very wide range of sources with varying angles so responsible adults can see more than just what's on Censored News Network and NY Times (the news they think is fit to print), etc. Anyone may subscribe to this list with an email to globalnetnews-summary-subscribe@lists.riseup.net - then reply to the confirmation request. Our Global Index - Mapping the issues on the Internet - is at http://globalcircle.net/portal.htm well, this is just a start- there are so many  [ send green star]

my own web page on civil liberties links! November 19, 2007 2:17 AM

I've worked long and hard on this page, with the result that it's been #1 on google search within its category for a number of years now: if you want to find it, all you have to do is type the words (without quotation marks) "civil liberties links" in google search, and it will show in the first results: google search: civil liberties links http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=civil+liberties+links&btnG=Google+Search Results 1 - 10 of about 1,870,000 English and Norwegian pages for civil liberties links Harmony's Home page: Civil Liberties Links http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Agora/7076/civilliberty.html apologies for "bragging" about my web page- it's just that there are few things in my life I feel i can point to as accomplishments.. I realize I'm probably shooting myself in the foot, here.. so with that i'll just hush my mouth, LOL.  [ send green star]

No hushing, Harmony! Everyone should have something to boast about, especially when it's an important cause and you are championing the cause in your boast.

I wasn't sure if I came across as boasting on a post in this group where I mentioned home schooling. I tend to be a bit boastful at times about the success we had home schooling, mainly because so many people predicted it would end in failure (back when home schooling was unheard of and thought to be a bit shocking).

I am thrilled that home schooling has yielded such warm wonderful people in my kids, who care so actively about other people and who are also my best friends and my favorite people. And you are thrilled that you managed to create an excellent web site that helps causes you know are very important to other people's well-being. That's something to be proud of. Thanks!
