Marta made three trips to the hospital, and was sent home each time. She was finally admitted on Friday 10/9 in the early morning.
After 26 hours in labor, the doctor decided a caesarian was necessary. Anthony Jesus (pronounced "Hay - sous") Ramirez was born on Saturday, 10/10, a little after 12pm. He is very healthy and both he and Marta are doing fine! They will be coming home on Tuesday, and in the meantime Dad (Jesse) will be staying at the hospital with his family.
The racism, the profiling, the harassment that my children, being part hispanic, have endured over the last several years is much on my mind this morning. I'm a typical parent, and want the best for my family!
Anthony has been born into a family whose roots in the United States go back to the late 1600's, and whose roots in Oregon date back to 1850. I hope and pray that the situation in the US now focused on immigration and against hispanics in general fades away, replaced by a new understanding, acceptance and realization that we are all inter-connected and are all sparks of the same reality and creation.
Many blessings,
Cynthia
I've been away from Care2 for the past 6-7 months and am SO glad to be back!
It was necessary for me to prioritize things in my life to make it possible for me to continue working and supporting myself and my family.
I have multiple non-visible physical disabilities (a foot deformity, disintegrating discs in my lower spine, arthritis, hearing loss, etc) plus the challenge of fibromyalgia and it's cohorts - sleep disturbances, PAIN, pain, pain, brain fog (what a cute little term that is!), IBS, chronic fatique and so on.
I needed to take some time to learn to balance the different areas of my life so that I could continue to be productive. Part of that was learning what my limitations are, and finding ways to maximize my health so that those limitations could be less constricting. I've made progress, as my return to Care2 attests, but I know that it will be an on-going challenge.
Beginning in January, 2009 I will most likely not have health care coverage, so part of my recent journey has been in learning to take care of my own health and becoming familiar with which symptoms can be managed outside of the healthcare system. I believe in being proactive, and that ability has allowed me to survive.
I'm looking forward to being here!
