anonymous Send Me Your Poor, Your Tired, Your Desparate Computer Questions November 03, 2007 11:01 AM

In Case you're wondering, with my nearly 35 years of bi-lingualism(I speak Mac and PC), I've opened up this group, to keep my mind sharp, by answering your questions. Please send them through this discussion group, or start you're own. All postings are moderated, so that IF you wish the response to be private, that can happen.  [report anonymous abuse]  [ accepted]

anonymous Mouse Is Drunk November 03, 2007 7:42 PM

anonymous Sounds like a classic case of the Trembling Mice syndrome. November 03, 2007 7:45 PM

Well, let's start with which side of the computer world you're on. Mac or PC? Either way, the mouse settings are a function of three elements. A. How old your mouse is. And also, has the innards ever been cleaned out? There's loads of lint, hairs, dust, etc, that can CHOKE your vermin, and that leads to the twitchies. B. In both operating systems, there is a preferences or control panel, with an icon for the Meece. Open that, and adjust the settings so it's not so sensitive, or make it slower. That may help. C. If in doubt, please recycle your mouse. Patrick  [report anonymous abuse]  [ accepted]

Ok, first thanx, my CD player will not play CD's. Any idea what code 41 is?  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

anonymous To CD or Not to CD, that is the question... November 04, 2007 10:44 AM

Code 41, assuming it's on your windows, is a graphics accelerator issue, usually. Maybe that your CD player is lacking a clean driver(so take your car to the car wash, eh?)..Just kidding, really. If you can tell me the Mac or PC you are on, perhaps we can solve this one?  [report anonymous abuse]  [ accepted]

Thanx, it is a (PC laptop) Dell Windows XP Home edition..I had this happen before and fixed it but I don't remember what I did and I just hate going to look, it sends around in circles..lol!  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

anonymous CD not working...ahem November 04, 2007 2:08 PM

Ok..two things to look at.. A. Check your windows update first. Make sure those are all current. In fact, we have that included in our 5 STeps to a Happy computer at our linked in site (see bulletins on front of group for that link.). B. Get the drivers for the CD(should be included on the disks you rec'd with computer) usually on one called Drivers. If not, maybe, just maybe, you're a candidate for one of our tune up sessions. http://www.kauaikeepsakes.com/care2/  [report anonymous abuse]  [ accepted]

My Cat Threw Up on My Laptop November 12, 2007 3:27 AM

Ewwww! Now the keyboard won't work! It happened about a week ago. I turned it upside down a few days. Now I'm using my laptop with an external keyboard, but that's not going to work very long. Is it a big deal getting a keyboard fixed? (It was the slimy not chunky kind, in case that matters at all! Hahaha)

Thanks!

I even have a question November 12, 2007 12:23 PM

Patrick...I am using Windows Vista home basic. I need more RAM..shouldn't Acer have shipped at least 1gb with my computer considering that is the minimum for Vista.......me thinks some salesman/tech may have taken some out...yes he had access as he ghosted my old hard drive over...partitioned a D drive that I don't want and can't remember how to get rid of the D drive partition now I have copied what I want over and I think that is not helping my speed either as all the operating system seems to be on there still on D drive for XP ...so if the Z disks and such are still on there from XP can I delete them..ouch ..

anonymous the mouse on the house..or how the cat meowed? November 28, 2007 1:50 AM

He..he..ok...rule number 1..if you are going to have cat burp on your keyboard, at least have voice recognition software installed, ok? OTOH, having that D drive ghosted, makes for an enviable issue. The real deal folks?

Keep it extremely simple, ok? Recall the days of future past, where ram was at a premium? There are innummerable issues here...

ok...once partioned(read that palestine) there is no way back, right? I'd recommend NOT fooling with partitioned drives, unless you have a strong peace summit.

also, give the cat a keyboard of it's own(see garage sales) since the tactile sensations on their paws are quite tickly. I have a client with a pet sitting service, and another with 50 cats on property. Gotta love them felines, ...

and for goodness sakes, go to the main page, and get yourself a nice Mozy

I have a D drive on my emachine, it's system restore drive, if you get rid of that you may not be able to restore your computer if something happens to it.

I have a drive station which shows up as I drive - I back it up nightly since I used so many graphics. Recommended by my computer guy since I had almost lost everything in a crash. It plugs into a usb port and so far so good.  [ send green star]  [ accepted]
