anonymous Group Focus and Guidelines September 12, 2006 10:58 AM

Manual Time-Outs

As most members are aware, this group is for petitions and discussions regarding the content of the petitions. In the past there have been many heated discussions that have degraded into personal opinions and attacks towards other members. All members should feel free to post any questions relating to the subject of the petitions and be able to discuss the content without fear of being personally ridiculed. This type of behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated, so we have implemented a manual ‘timeout’ system for any member that is unable to follow these guidelines. Any member that has been warned and does not comply will be issued a 48 hour removal and block.

Thread Closures

While we encourage all members to post and discuss petitions, there are and will be occasions when petitions are created that may be in conflict with Care2's goals.  When we encounter such petitions, we will close them while we wait for guidance from Care2.

Our priority here is to ensure that Care2's goals and vision for this group remain intact, and that all members feel free to participate in petition creation and discussion.  There are and will be occasions when we have to make decisions members will disagree with. However, we do not make these decisions without careful consideration, and we never make decisions out of any wish to censor, silence, or otherwise upset members.

Thanks!

anonymous starting threads September 25, 2006 11:17 AM

Hello,

We have noticed that some members are creating multiple threads for the same petitions. We have closed the multiple threads.

Please do not start multiple threads on the same petition.

Thanks!

Not a secret

I think there's a few (3).... They're doing a fantastic job, so, it must be the right amount of "them"

Who made that last post?

Was there a thread in this group about a petition for feral horses in QLD? What happened to it?

Sorry I have not been on the group in a while.  Been a very rough few months for me dealing with severe health problems.  But I have done my best to keep up with my few groups I host and signing petitions.  So it was because of group clean up that some of my postings on this group have been deleted so I thought I would come and check it out.   So I then seen that these guidelines have been added to the group.  Which is good, as in the Feedback and Suggestion group doing the same because of all the problems within the groups.

I do have to say that as far as this group is concerned, having Care2 volunteer host for the group, it has made the problems very much less, so good going on that one our group host.

My only complaint I have about these guidelines is that part that goes over board on how Care2 handles things, and how the flagging system works.   For you have stated the following:

Any member that has been warned and does not comply will be issued a 48 hour removal and block.

Whereas, Care2 and the flagging system works so that when these violation occur, a member is given a 24 hour time out from the group.  So for us to over ride that and give the member an additional 24 hours is wrong.  That would be like giving them a time out twice for the same offense in any other group, or the flagging system giving them a time out twice for the same post that got flagged.   So I feel this part of the guidelines need to come in form with that of Care2 and the way they handle things.

My Petition on this site is worthless because of an extremely Damaging Post dated "February 07, 2007 2:09 PM" Can you just delete the whole thread and let me start over? Can you stop this guy? He followed me from 'Town Hall' where he managed to ruin my thread there as well, just not as bad. I believe that he's ruined my Reputation on this site now, though. Defamation of Character, Slander, and Libel, all in one Post!!! I think he's sabotaging me because he works for the Entertainment Industry, but I'm really unsure of his motives. Maybe he owns stock in them? Please help!!!! Respectfully and sincerely, Electra  [ send green star]  [ accepted]

There are several members who have been starting multiple threads to promote their petitions.  Please do not do this!  Any duplicate threads found regarding the same petition are going to be automatically deleted.

We understand your desire to keep your petitions at the top of the list and you can still do this with one thread as long as you keep it active by posting on it regularly.  Opening two or more threads merely clogs up the board and buries other petitions that are deserving of attention, as well.

Please open one thread only for your petitions.

Thank you

Hi everyone,

Another request, please.  It would be appreciated if you would refrain from using all CAPITAL LETTERS on the subject line when you start a new thread.  It's much clearer and easier to read if you type like this:

Please sign my petition for...

rather than like this:

PLEASE SIGN MY PETITION FOR...

It would be much appreciated!

Thank you
