Hi, I am Brittany from NC. I'm often not a great contributor to this group. Sometimes I just simply don't have nothing to add to a conversation or topic, other times I just don't know what to say. However, I'm going to my hardest to become more of a member, to contribute more and be less of a lurker.

Merry Meet! March 22, 2005 5:47 PM

I'm from England but living in Vancouver, where I work as an artist's model.

My favourite Pagan author has to be Starhawk, although Charles de Lint is my favourite author, and if you haven't read any of his wonderful urban fantasies  you really should, as they all have a mystical/pagan element to them.

Hope all the group are enjoying the first few days of Spring as we are in Canada.

Blessings

Steve

Hi, I'm Margaret.  I don't get to post much, but read when I can.  I'm in New Jersey, work full time as a paralegal, go to college part time majoring in Mathematics, minoring in Philosophy.  Some day, when I graduate, I plan to teach - probably at the Junior High level.

I was born and raised Presbyterian and was very active in the church up until May 2000 (Christian Education, Mission Council, Youth Ministry, etc).  That's when I had a mystical experience that changed my life.  Then, in August 2000 I found Beliefnet.com and took the test for the first time... came up 100% NeoPagan!  I had no clue what a Pagan was, so I started reading everything I could about Paganism as well as other relegions.  I joined the Unitarian Universalist church.

Today, my beliefs are a mixture of Paganism, Shamanism, Animism, Mystacism, Buddhism, and Pantheism.

Oh, I also have two grown daughters, two grandchildren, one grandchild on the way, a son-in-law... and five cats.

hi all March 22, 2005 8:26 PM

I'm Maria. I'm a stay at home mom/writer and I live in Colorado. My hippie parents raised me in the Unity Church, which I appreciate because they taught me that ALL religions are valid and beautiful and although I am not currently practicing, I am at heart a pagan. I am married to a man who was raised in the Salvation Army church, which has been a real challenge! We spend a lot of time arguing over what to teach our son. I pray for tolerance, and I'm excited to meet everybody.  [ send green star]

I am a Witch. Simply a Witch, can't say of any trad because they all have their faults! But I  realize that it alll comes down to beginnings and that as where I'm looking to currently. What do I trust more.. modern medicine or herbal cures.. it dependson if the herbal curses symptoms or the long run outcome. In other words sore throat or  kidney failure. I'm analytical and at the  same time open  and opinionated.   But that's me

i am March 27, 2005 6:53 AM

Charlemagne from

I am only 17, and haven't been "officially" pagan or any such label for very long, but have always been a strange wild child of the woods.

I love school, but I'm graduating this year. I love my classes: art, sociology, drama, biology. Art is my spiritual, creativity. Through it I can express so many feelings, and that perfect understanding of this world and others that I'm sure we all feel sometimes. Some things just cannot be described with only words.

I don't know how to describe my personality. It seems as though I'm only made up of perpetualy changing emotions and feelings, like a stream which can be perfectly smooth and unruffled, or rushy and foamy, or quiet and bubbly, or anything in between, depending on the surroundings. I feel that I am nothing more than my emotions and feelings. I can be completely silent and solitary, or five minutes later I am impulsive and talkative, or from being brittle and tough to feminine and soft. or lots of different things.

I am cute but modest, love people but hate mankind, independent yet social, so simple yet complex.

I guess you could say I am an oxymoran, but I'd never thought of it that way before.

I don't really fit any normal mold. My spirituality is my own, and comes from the natural world around mebut I relate to many things found here and other witchcraft stuff. I travel through life based on my feelings and my intuition. If it feels right, it becomes a part of me. If not, I don't let it affect me.

That is the only way I can decribe myself in such a short space, and without boring you guys. I know that I, at least, never bore myself. Because I never really know how I'm going to be. So thank you for listening, and I hope I haven't jsut been babbling ineffectively!

I don't post often here, But I do read all the posts!

Charlemagne

Who am I??? March 29, 2005 8:36 AM

I am the naked child laughing in the meadow running after the fawns that have hidden in the night.
I am the lonely child sitting in a window and seeing other children in the distant playground I couldn’t reach.

I am the simple child rolling down the hillside turning on in summersaults unwilling to let things stop.
I am the complex child with answers to impossible questions looking naively at the world that others have forgotten how to see.

I am the gentle child stroking a mewling kitten and whispering small comforts while looking for my mommy.
I am the angry child trying to understand a strange and confusing world and giving up with tantrums and screaming at those nearby.

I am the hopeless child who sees no answer and no end to the questions that others find important when I’m told I’m too young to understand.
I am the hopeful child who sees the animals and the trees as the ones who have learned to listen and am sure that they will guide the way.

I am the child that grew up in light and shadow.
I sang the songs of joy and howled the pain of grief.

I am the child that still lives in me now awaiting for those answers to those questions that were never answered as I became the grown-up and asked them once again.

Because I was a child who tried to be the good child, the helpful child, the child who would still be friends when playmates ran to other things and we were crying with scraped knees.

I am still that child.
But I am big.
And I am fighting back.
And then, and then, I’m going to love a tree and a bird and the ones that are most important.
Because I remember the child within me
And I have never lost my sight to the world’s despair. --Linda

anonymous day late/dollar short March 30, 2005 1:44 PM

Hope I'm not the last to post in this thread!

I don't post often, but am an avid reader.

I'm Alli, I live in Oregon.

I have a husband I fall in love with on a daily basis.

We have a large obnoxious moody cat named Jake.

I still miss my dog very much.

I love to paint, read, nap, walk, watch sci fi.  I also love dogs, cats, raptors, all animals.

I've been through many spiritual phases from wanting to be nun as a little girl, to born again, to crystals, to scientology, to religious science.  Obviously I'm a work in progress.  Paganism sounds interesting.  Maybe I can just mash all these things together.  Right now I find spirituality mostly in nature.

In my youth I wanted to be

 An actress

 A marine biologist

or

Cher.

Nice to meet you all!

:-) March 30, 2005 4:48 PM

I didn't want Alli to suffer by being the last post

I'm a law student in NW Ohio, but live in FL...trying to decide if I can hack it .  I do like it though!!!  I seem to fall in the vast category of members who prefer to observe, but thought I'd chime up for once.

I'm definately a reader (though I can't wait 'til I graduate so I can read fiction again!!!), but when I get my nose out of the books, I belly-dance, walk, I'm kind of an internet junkie, and I love to be outside...it was 73 today - maybe spring's here to stay???

Nice to see so many replies!  Hope to get to know you all a bit better!

Regards,

Hil

I'm fairly knowledgeable about runes, heathenism, Asatru, and several craft skills.  [ send green star]

I was wondering if you could tell me what an Asatru heathen practices and what a kindred is?  Just curious as I'm learning as much as I can.   Hugs, Carole  [ send green star]

Asatru - Anglo-Saxon Heathenism March 31, 2005 7:48 AM

Asatru is the reconstructionist religion of Northern Europe. Anglo-Saxon heathenism is very similiar but with some philosophical differences.  Both are different and separate from Wicca, Witchcraft and Celtic spiritual paths in a number of ways; from the ways of worship to viewpoints on the deities.

From our flyer:

Asatru, translated means True to the Gods. Asa – gods, tru – true.  What that means to a modern follower of Asatru is that one is “true” to the gods of the Northern European cultures of the Norse, Germanic tribes, Vikings, etc.  The same deities were brought to the Saxons by the Angles from the Continent and became the basis of the Anglo-Saxon culture.  These were the pre-Christian heathens of Europe: England, Scandinavia, Germany and Iceland.

Some of the various names for the distinct religion are Asatru, Northern Tradition, Odinism, Forn Sed, Germanic Reconstructionism, Vanatru and Heathenism.

The goals of Heathenism is to build a healthy relationship with the Gods/Goddesses, our ancestors, spirits of the land, our families, and our communities through recognizing and celebrating holy rites of the year, holidays and daily rites and by our daily actions.

Heathenry is a polytheistic religion – we recognize and worship a large number of gods and spiritual beings.  Some of these deities are Odin (Wodan, Othinn, Wotan), Thor (Donar), Frigga (Frig), Freya (Freyja, the Frowe), Freyr (Fro Ing), Loki and others.  Among the gods there are two distinct races: the Aesir – Odin, Frigga, Thor, Tyr, etc.  The Vanir – Freya, Freyr and others.  There are also other races of giants, dwarves, wights and others.

Also highly honored are our ancestors, those who have gone before us. Especially honored are those of the ancient past who followed the pre-Christian religion of the gods/goddesses.

Most groups are organized into what are termed Kindreds or Hearths. Usually looked upon by the members as a “family” unit. We are Valley Oak Kindred.

Noble Values/Virtues

Many Christians ask pagans and heathens how can we live in society without the Ten Commandments or a code of Ethics. Most Asatru/Heathens strive to practice moral principles called Values or Virtues. Some list 9, some 12 but the list almost always includes most or all of the following principles:

Boldness                        Truth                        Honor

Troth                             Self-Rule                   Industriousness

Self-Reliance                 Wisdom                    Steadfastness

Tolerance                      Strength                    Generosity

Family Responsibility     Hospitality                 Moderation

Courage                        Freedom                   Loyalty

Our ancestors’ lives, honor and common sense tell us that the above ethics are what should be followed. Hope that helps.

Oh wow! March 31, 2005 8:19 AM

Experimenting with fonts? I love these "hands", but they are pretty difficult to be read... Edwardian, huh? (I'm sorry, if I stole something...)

Who am I?

I think it's hard to answer this question... I'm from a Virgo family, and that means that it's possible to answer WRONG to this question, and the consequences of WRONG answers are TERRRRIBLE...

I'm a Finnish woman, a witch, 36 (in just three weeks, yay!), I'm married (to Shadow Bear), but I am not a mother. I am the carekeeper of two cats and a dog, though. I am living in Sweden right now, which is ok, but I would love to be back in Finland again. There's no place like home I am a Pagan - an own special blend just for me. I am dreaming of a life as an author, and an illustrator, it would be nice to illustrate my own books - but if I had to choose, author it is. I am an artisan right now, a weaver, but I'm allergic, and that makes the life as an active weaver impossible for me. I am very good at drawing and textile crafts, and baking, and divination... and... I'm intelligent, good at understanding things, sometimes too good, because people start yelling at me, because I "guessed" too close, curious, multi-talented, full of myself, and think I have all the rights to be LOL I would say I'm independent, equal, tolerant, and all the other qualities Dana mentioned above LOL

I'm Ket.

Shhhh, I am not officially back yet, but I was able to manage about 5 minutes of snagged computer time, so I thought I would drop in and say hi.

First, Roseflame, and all the others I co host with, please forgive my extended absence.  You all know of my own issues at hanf, nd I have been trying to help my son and his fiancee after their last ordeal.  I promise to be making it all up when I am back in full swing.

Now, who am I?  Hmmmm, that can be a little tricky.  Well, obviously, I am Rob.  Well, I am a spiritual healer/shaman, who literally walks and works with all the animas.  I am owned by both domestic and wild animals, as I heal them as well as people.  I work a lot with dreams and journeys to the spirit world.  I am both Native American and Pagan and follow both paths combined with much enthusiasm.  Because of something that happened persona un my life a long time ago, I have a knack for helping people with the not so obvious.

On a non spiritual level, I am a medical researcher.  I strive to help people defeat diseases in a more affordable way than what modrn drug companies will allow.  I use the hollistic approach as often as possible, but I have come to the realiztion it is not always possible.

Ok, enough babbling about me, most of you know me already from around the groups.  And anything else, just ask.  I will be back as soon as things are taken care of.  Miss you all.

Much love, peace and blessings...Rob

Who am I? April 02, 2005 9:53 AM

First off... my  name's Iris. 32 years old (in 3 months) and caretaker of Tara and Britt, my dogs, Sita, Noes, Bram, Pluk and Monty, my cats. Then there are Sam & Bloesem, Hazel & Ylva, Maik & Wenda, Micky, Tamar & Sarah, Nibbit & Lara, the rabbits, 2 red eared sliders (Bor & Stoffel), Dobby the dwarf parrot, Hermione the Syrian Hamster and last, but not least... Maggie, the chinchilla.

There's also Merijn... at least I hope he's still there. He's "my" stray cat... afraid of humans... but since I've started feeding him, he's slowly started trusting me. Unfortunately... I've not seen him in the last two days... being me... I'm worried! Hope he's just out there chasing pretty girls

I'm highly sensitive, which complicates things... at times. I love reading... but I'm at my happiest just being with my animals in my garden.

I'm pagan, with a very personal style...

Hi all,

I am Charlie.  I would like the thank Roseflame for the invite.  I am fairly new to paganism/wicca.  I am trying to read as much as I can and find my path.  I live in central Montana at the moment.  I am looking for friends and people who I can hopefully learn from and maybe contribute something back.  I like the energy this group seems to have.  I think I will like it here.

Blessings all.

Sigh of relief April 03, 2005 3:01 AM

Quick update here: Merijn showed himself last night... he wanted to eat! So I fed him, and added flea-meds to his food (yep, I treat him against fleas and worms too). He was back this morning. I'm relieved he's well... and grateful he let me touch him! I was just about exstatic when a couple of weeks ago, he gently licked food off my hand , ofcourse... that was after he bit my finger

I'm not Pagan and joined the group without really reading the description when I got an invite BUT I'M HAPPY TO BE HERE if it's ok!  I see many witches and wiccas and all sorts of interesting people here (was practicing, but no longer -- mother raised me as one from an early age).  I am however very spirital in nature (how could I not be with a mom like mine?!), and love discussions relating to spirituality.

I support animal welfare causes and have 1 dog myself -- a border collie.  Her spirit is more doggish than my previous irish setter dog, who was so awesome, she made people comment about her "space."

I'm an author (non-fiction) and columnist and also run 2 groups here relating to my expertise -- Get Organized group and All About Interior Decorating.  I invite all you kindred spirits to join if this interests you!

Gotta go and do my weekend hike with the dog -- I sense her impatience!

Hi, I am Linda T & I come from a long line of Scottish Pagans. In fact, my family- intellectuals, the entire lot- firmly believes I am the reincarnation of my great-grandmother, Maggie McCoy, who died only minutes before I was born. Within the mythology of my family, it is said that everyone believed I would be born a boy, all except Maggie McCoy. In all her wisdom, she said otherwise, that I would be "...a wee child with eyes the color of a pretty meadow." Her magic certainly ran true, so, to honor her, I was given a name that means "the pretty meadow at the head of the waters." (We take the naming of our children to heart & it becomes an entire family affair.) As Maggie was a practicing witch, it has simply been taken for granted that I am a witch too. In reality, I practice something akin to Liberal Quakerism & Paganism. I began living alone after the death of my long-term partner, many years ago now. I am comfortable with living the life of a solitude, while only infrequently getting out of the house and spending time with loved ones and friends. This is partly due to living with a very rare neurological disease (for easy reference, doctors tend to refer to it as a "body migraine," which, if you can even imagine such a thing, comes pretty close to describing what I experience), and partly by choice. [It is a cyclic disease, so sometimes I am perfectly fine, while at others I am seriously ill. Sounds awful, I know, but I really have made my peace with it. I'm also fighting a bout with cancer right now, brought on by a sucker-punch from the primary illness, but which I am defending myself against well.] While I like living alone, when I began to get feelings of isolation late last year, I came back here where I was an original member back when Care2 was still just a start-up. It has been a great experience, for the most part (though I'm still not sure if I care for a networking system that fills my email with a deluge of information- and occasional nonsense- I have not sought out for myself). Anyway, if there's anything you want to know about me, and you cannot find the answer in my profile, feel free to ask. I cannot imagine any question I would not be willing to answer. As always. Your devoted sister. Linda T  [ send green star]

Hi y'all.

Got an invite so I came to the party.

In the world we share with 3 billion or so other wandering souls, I am two years on the downhill side of the big 4 oh. In this new world of pagans, witches, and wicha, I am newborn. A baby barely able to open her eyes and thirsting for the bottle of knowledge.

I currently dwell in the high desert of the US southwest, building solar ovens by day, surfing the web by night.

Hi all! May 04, 2005 2:38 AM

Although I don't post much, I read quite a bit.  I'm a Gemini Eclectic Pagan living in Las Vegas -- the spiritual black hole of the US west.  I work on the fringes of the entertainment industry (to pay the bills) and have a women's spiritual and resource website.  Both jobs keep me pretty busy.  I have 2 grown daughters and currently help my mother who has arthritis from head to toe and scoleosis (making it difficult for her to get around and take care of a lot of normal daily affairs).  I am just a couple of steps away from attaining Master status in Reiki Healing, am a crystal keeper and have recently been inducted into training for the Correllian Priestess-hood.  I read, write, make jewelry, crochet, develope aromatherapy treatments, am an amateur herbalist, and am a die-hard Stephen King fan.  OK -- that covers about 5% of it.

It was great to see how wide-spread this group's membership is and the diversity of interests represented here.  What a great bunch!

Hello everybody, nice to meet you I am Bee from Germany i haven't been here much since i joined because my life changed a lot in the last months but now my life's a bit more calm and i am glad to find out more about the group. I am an author (poems and short stories) and social worker actual working with teenagers. I asked myself in what cathegory i fit in: i am no pagan yet but no christian any more . Maybe the best way to describe myself is that i am searching. Tolerance is very important to me and as far as i can see i can meet a lot of tolerant people here.

A positive song for all of you  I am listening to at the moment:

Trust your own thinking
Follow your heart
Go with an open mind
The old ship is sinking let it go down
New land is there for you to find
All is waiting leading the way
Through all kinds of weather
Deep down and high
You learn to fly
As you laugh and as you cry

i am not sure if it is a traditional song or done by Gila Müller-Steger

Have a nice day all of you yours Bee

I'm just me and I enjoy being me.  Right now I'm busy helping my mother, her dog, my two hairy kids (known in the neighborhood as The Wolves), bottle feeding a baby llama (for another 5 months at least), working on my garden, yard, life, reading, designing gemstone jewelry (for helping heal/calm/grow/etc)... and I'm headed out the door again.  Don't get to check online as much as I use to...

Hello to everyone May 24, 2005 10:51 AM

Hi everyone, I'm Tanya.  I am training under a Faery Seer and also have a Native American Teacher.  I can't say for sure how long I've been on this path, as it seems like forever.  I have not been blessed yet with human children, but have been fortunate enough to call a cat and dog family.

I currently live in the Washington DC area where I work in environmental policy/compliance.

It's very nice to meet everyone.

Greetings from Naples, Italy! May 29, 2005 7:14 AM

My dear friends,

I'm not pagan, but I am very broad-minded and open to anything.  Most of all, however - I must admit that I joined in because Roseflame and Janice are co-hosting, which is a "warranty" in itself that I'd enjoy this group!

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to participate so far because I've been ill.  I'm doing slightly better now... so I hope you'll see my face more often!

With blessings and good thoughts,

Giuliana aka Princess Little Rock

I am 37 and a mother of 2 wonderful teenagers.  I am just recently seperated so lots of hugs are welcome... well they are anyways..   heeheehee.  I am pagan but still very new at it.  I am very close to the Fae and do readings with them as well as dragons.  I am currently an Administrative Assistant at a college in Northern AZ, and am still trying to get my BA.  The major keeps changing... hehehe

Could I reply any later??? June 18, 2005 2:23 PM

My name is Donna, I have been a member of care2 for years and have been studying the mystical path for what seems like an eternity.

I'm an eclectic Rosicrucian magician who has full belief that all magick can, and will, be explained by science. I am also Indigo.

I am an artist, I have made my own runes and Major Arcana tarot deck among other things. My current favorite medium is Adobe Photoshop... oh and clay!

I am originally from Ohio (Cleveland area) and I live in Southern TN now.

I rescued 10 cats and they all have a special place in my heart. One day I hope to have the money to have animal sanctuary, complete with staff.

Nice to meet everyone!

Bright Peace,

Donna

I am still searching June 18, 2005 3:40 PM

Hi

I'm Sharon and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up-or is it I just don't want to grow up?

I'm looking forward to reading and posting to the group- it seems like a wonderful place to spend time. I am 52, Aquarius, artist/designer/gardner/keeper of cats and stray children-most of whom are just finishing thier degrees about now. I am , for lack of a better word-a hedgewitch, no formal training yet, but I come from a very fey family. I beleive in not one, but many gods and goddeses, and I am at peace with all of them.

Who Am I? June 18, 2005 3:54 PM

I am Bill,  An Engineer by profession (Civil).   I live in Vancouver (Richmond) B.C.  I like people and I admire what Roseflame has accomplished here.  As to the views, often expressed in here,  religious or otherwise, I don't share them but I do appreciate them.  Frequently I find food for thought among them.  So I suppose in a way I do share them.  Keep in there and do be expressive.  Some of us are never too old to learn.  Thank you Roseflame and thank you all,  for somedays we share the same thoughts and I think that's great.  Bill  [ send green star]

Thank you so much for the invite Roseflame. That was very kind of you. I've never been invited to a group before. I feel honored. *I tip my hat*

To everyone else: See you guys and gals around the block. I'm sure we'll all get to debate with, discuss, and laugh at one another soon. I look forward to it.

Love to all.

Who I am? June 19, 2005 9:32 AM

I dont know...

I have so many aspects and I still discover new aspects...

My name is Marit. I live in Norway and I have no certain beliefs...

I am a Mother Earth healer and I have friends who are into the same. So we are a small group who travel sometimes to clear an area and heal...

We are called to do this job, so we do that

I am also persistent about walking the talk, just not talk the talk. Anything I say in post, I have experienced myself...or...many of my friends have experienced that. I observe and learn from that, and figure out things.

Sincerely
W9

Hello, RoseFlame... June 19, 2005 11:29 PM

thank you, for the invitation to join you all in the Garden...and especially for the huggle!

I am not a pagan, closer perhaps to pantheist...

God is one, that is, only one substance can be granted in the universe. Whatsoever is, is in God, and without God nothing can be, or be conceived.

Nature does not work with an end in view. For the eternal and infinite Being, which we call God or Nature, acts by the same necessity as that whereby it exists. . . . Therefore, as he does not exist for the sake of an end, so neither does he act for the sake of an end; of his existence and of his action there is neither origin nor end.

Within me resides Notwai`sha, the spirit of a Haudenosaunee...I am of the Earth, I breathe the Sky, I am filled with Water and in my spirit...a Fire burns with a passion...that we be filled with love, respect and compassion for all that we see and all that we can't see.

Wicca wanderer June 20, 2005 10:17 AM

Hello everyone - thanks for the invite Roseflame!  Who am I?  Eeesh - now there's a question.  I have followed certain elements of wicca for over 30 years (I know because my first "spell" was a binding spell - and I still haven't escaped the bind).  Be VERY careful what you bring into your life.

I'm the 47 year old mother of an 8 year old.  I live in NJ, I'm an Indigo and have followed many paths.  I am progressive politically (I've been told if I get any more open minded my brains will fall out).  I am a computer professional in the sales and marketing aspects with a high level of technical competence.

I have a mildly sarcastic wit and am thrilled to be here!

Blessed be!

I guess we all wear many hats @ different times- but we are all still connected to the very same universal source regardless of what name we choose to call the (source) by. On the Physic level, we

are all cells within a bigger cell we call the earth & earth is just another cell inside the huge cosmos & within us are even smaller cells that have smaller cells thru out infinity which tells

most of us that our universe is not only large, but our inward universe is just as vast & endless...

Thanks for the invite Rose..just went through the membership.  This is just like ol' home week.  So this is where all the good people out there on C2 come to recharge their batteries.  I like it already.

I'm Ken from Barrie, Ontario Canada.  Barrie is located on the west shore of Kempenfelt Bay which is an arm off Lake Simcoe, about 50 miles north of the city of Toronto.

I have been retired for a year now and I did say retired not retarded as some of you here already think.. he he ..have a sailboat and like to get out on it now and then.  I don't think I can take all 900+ of you out at one time but you never know with all the magic that exists around us.

I hope my years of life and experience can add to the strength of this group. Like most things in life what you put into something most often comes back ten fold.  Thanks again for the invite.

This thread July 02, 2005 12:36 PM

got me thinking, Who am I?  Well, I finally sat down and wrote something for that "About Me" section of my profile and here it is:

"I am eclectic, intuitive, intellectual, artistic, sensitive, introverted and extroverted. At times I am verbose and at other times rather quiet. I love nature - both flora and fauna, especially felines with whom I share my home. I have a big heart, a sly sense of humor and an open mind but a low tolerance for meanness or insensitivity."

I am Jillyin, I live in Connecticut and am in the process of switching jobs. I haven't posted much lately on C2C but I do still read many threads and love hearing about everyone's experiences and lives.

Spiritually I'm also pretty eclectic and am open to both pagan and earth centered practices as well as those of the Mystery schools. I have a much harder time with more traditional Christian practices but if I had to pick a church it would have to be the Unitarian Church because it is open to the lessons and beauty of all religions, sciences and the arts.

It was wonderful to read about everyone here! What a rich, wonderful group of amazing people you all are, especially Roseflame, our host and inspiration!

Love & Light,

Jillyin

Some think of the different beliefs here it is dark practitioners but it is not. This group gets very interesting and has many topics. It is well this group is quite different in many that I belong to. Each group is unique in its own way and this group is quite lively and very kind, and a good sense of humor. I know I listen here but not post much,,,,,For those of you who are uncertain, trust the light in the forest and earth mothers spirits. Hi everyone July 26, 2005 2:41 AM

I'm Sherry.I'm originally from Kentucky, but have traveled around this country quite a bit,and am now living in North Carolina.I see quite a few people here from many of the places I've lived-New Mexico, Bradenton Fla,Kentucky.

I love crafts, and am always trying new things.I used to love to sew, but my hands wont cooperate anymore.I sometimes make jewelry, paint, crochet, and love to work with "found" materials(things I find in nature).

I'm soon to be 42 years old(in September-yep, a Virgo),married 15 years to the love of my life, and have 5 kids,Kenny-26,Neil-20,Raichelle-14,B'Elanna-9,and Duncan-8 in sept.I also have a rat,a ferret,a hedgehog, and a chinese water dragon.I'm disabled, thanks to having a pretty bad case of Fibromyalgia.I'm currently fighting for SSI,and now waiting for an appointment with an administrative law judge, after a couple of denials.

I've always had a "thing" for nature, animals, magick, and any culture that revered them.Even though I was raised Baptist,I never felt "right" being a part of that.I've always been drawn to anything natural,be it clothing, medicine, or just being outside, under the sun, moon and stars.I have many beliefs, about reincarnation, why we're here,etc...I could never seem to find a name for it,though. Then, one day I was chatting with a friend, and telling her about my beliefs, and she laughed, saying"Honey, if that isn't Pagan, I don't know what is.You found your way to it,without even trying."That was only a few years ago,and I've spent that time learning as much as I can,but I don't follow any one particular path, only my own.So, I tend to call myself an Eclectic Pagan.

I should stop now, before I end up writing a novel.I'm glad I joined this group, all of you seem like wonderful people to get to know, and I have a feeling I will learn much here.

Hello! August 10, 2005 12:27 AM

Hello all, and thank you, Roseflame, for the invite!  I think this is going to be my 'homie' group from looking through the threads.  What a great bunch of people you have here!  Anyway, I live in the DFW area of Texas, am a H.S. English teacher, have a carpenter husband, a just graduated daughter who won't get a job..., and a toy chihuahua named Angel.  I have been searching most of my life for answers to questions no one wanted to ask, and stumbled on Witchvox' website. The rest is history - I have so many books on spirituality and paganism that my husband has decided never to move me anywhere again...

Who are you? August 18, 2005 11:28 PM

I am very new to this group...joined about 2 days ago. I read through most of the previous entries before joining and discovered that in most of the entries I felt like I was sitting around with family. Especially the quips between Clive and Roseflame ... sounded like my siblings! So, mostly I'm sitting in the broomcloset, but I'm peeking out farther than usual just by joining.  [ send green star]

I am... August 19, 2005 3:53 AM

a 42 year old single mother of two teenage daughters, an English/Anthropology student, a writer, an administrative assistant at a local university, a scholar of the Olde Ways, and a traveler.  I love my daughters, night skies, animals, cooking for others, spinning a good yarn, crystal meditation, and laughing with good friends.

May peace surround you all!

Who am I? August 19, 2005 8:13 PM

Why is it that when you ask that question most people respond by telling you their professions, their religious beliefs, their status in their family and/or society, etc.?  (no offense meant to anyone here).  To me, that is not "who you are".   To me this question means how do you think, how do you feel about particular issues, your particular illness(es), etc.  Even at my age I find that life tends to change who and what I 'am' fairly often.  "I may be getting older, but I refuse to grow up", just ask anyone who knows me personally - including grandchildren.    [ send green star]

Roseflame August 19, 2005 8:16 PM

Didn't quite know what you were getting into by inviting me - then again you probably counted on the 'nwm' not working!

Thanks for the invite, and I will try to act like an adult.

NOW you have me thinking... August 21, 2005 3:45 PM

Hey Roseflame...what's up? Candy here from Southern Illinois...and now you have me thinking...Who am I? Well, besides being...Mom, Chef, Laundry Lady, Maid, Personal Assistant, Chauffer, Animal Trainor/Groomer/Control/Clean-up....Baby-sitter, Secretary, Social Planner, and Gardener...I just really don't know..

I am just a plain old country girl, with big dreams and hopes, trying to live a good life, as simply as I possibly can. NO DRAMA QUEEN HERE!!! I try to be the best friend my friends deserve...they have always been there for me. I love my son dearly...he's lost 85 lbs. to date and I am so proud of him...we eat healthy now, and I love to cook...Martha Stewart wants to be ME!!!

Well August 21, 2005 4:08 PM

There is an old zen koan that says (and I paraphrase) when asked "who are you?" you state your name.  When asked "who are you really?" you just smile.

Seriously, that is the most profound question of all.  For each moment that passes changes us, you cannot hope to posess even yourself.   The best that you can do, is to know who you are at this point in time.  Enjoy who you are right now, and love.

Elspeth Hetrick, here. Hiya all. August 21, 2005 4:21 PM

Merry Meet.  You can all me Elspeth.

Well, my profile is pretty rich with facts and photographs, so I'll just sprinkle a few details here.

I'm currently earning a B.A. with a major in Anthropology and minors in Women's Studies, Sociology, and Psychology from the University of Michigan. I have 12 credits to go, and should have a diploma by May. (It would be sooner, but I take care of a paraplegic father and a 2-year-old niece).

I have given up my work as a University T.A. and start a new job as a social events coordinator for mentally challenged adults, this autumn.

My favorite color is purple. My favorite authors lately include J.K. Rowling and Terry Pratchett. My favorite foods are dark chocolate, poori (a Punjabi hot bread), potatoes, and anything with caffeine.

Lately, I spend my evenings watching Monty Python and Farscape, or listening to audio books. If given a choice, I like to spend my days in the theatre, or at a library, or in my kitchen doing crafts while I bake up a scrummy, sweet, Irish, soda bread.

I've done more traveling this summer than ever before in my life (New Orleans, Stratford and Niagara Falls/on the Lake in Ontario, Indianapolis, and soon, D.C.)

I believe in compassion above all things, but just because I'm loving and try to be mindfull, doesn't mean I lack a wicked sense of humor, nor does it mean I lack a desire to rebel against social conventions.

Indeed, my compassionate intentions drive me to be as involved as I can be in local, national, and international social/political activism.

I believe in equality for women, gays, lesbians, bisexuals, transgendered persons, people with disabilities, people of color, and all people.

Odd facts: I have three tattoos, (naturally) red hair down to my waist, and my purse is a tie-dyed tote bag featuring the god Ganesha.

a good question October 15, 2005 7:18 AM

I'm rick s. .. I see myself in small case letters not from any sense of lack of self esteem. Anyone who knows me will attest to that..LOL. Rather from an evolving sense of simplicity. I'm a Buddhist/Hindu blend and have been for a lonnnnng time, they're the only faiths I truly know. I've been intensifying my practice lately, a lot of retreats and long meditation sessions. So I'm in a transition state now, changing. It will be interesting to see what comes out of it. Up until this year and for the last 12 or so years my career has revolved around death and dying. Both in paliative nursing and working with the coroner's office.. picking up the dead. Murders, suicides, and highway fatalities. I lost count of all the deaths after a hundred and that was a long time ago. So I left in february of this year in order that I could assimilate properly everything that I learned and saw in those fields. I work now as a machinist.. a sublimely normal, mundane job that allows me the freedom and the distance to meditate on all those dharma lessons from life. So who am I? Well not real sure, mostly harmless..LOL.. and a good soul.

That's me for now

Update on my previous post...Found the red eared sliders a permanent home in a human cared for outdoors turtle pond with tons of other turtles. Released the squirrel to the wild she stays close to the house though and even though she's been free for months she still comes and begs for treats. Have taken in more snakes in need so now I care for 9 snakes...other than that nothing new

Myself November 13, 2006 8:09 PM

Hello and merry met,

My name is Kim Martin aka in some circles "The White Wolf",  I am not your typical individual.  I am a bundle of contradictions, a question inside a riddle inside an enigma wrapped up in the mysteries of space time and reality.  I am not an egomaniac but I can not say that I am sane by societies standards.  A friend of mine described us the best,  "Kings and heros on an endless crusade just not made for this world today".  I don't fit in with any one group so hence I am a solitare.  I don't feel the need to break the silence but also feel a responseablility to help others with their problems especially the spiritual ones.  I have been a practioner for the past 30 years  (Yes I did start very early  I had to in order to protect myself from everything that was around me)  and have done extensive research on a great many different Paths.  I am planning on restarting a compilation of books that deal extensively with the "Occult".   as Pacino? said   "Welcome to my world".

Hi I'm Dody B.  I'm a mom, a psychic phone reader, a teacher of a private class...homeschool, a gardener, a sewing fanatic, a coffee addict, a clergy person for a Humanist and Pagan Church...yes they do work together well, I am a board member of a nationwide charity, I am also the head of a small chapter of a charity by Pagans,  I am divorced and remarried to the love of my life, but all and all I am devoted to my family, community, and nation.  [ send green star]

Hellp all, January 22, 2007 9:21 AM

Since my original post on this thread, I was offline for a year.I got back a few months ago, but only just found my way back here. Also since that post, both of my daughters have chosen the Pagan Path-one is 15, and one is 11.My pet rat, Frodo, has gone on to the rainbow bridge, and I now have a monster-puppy(4 months old and about 40 pounds) named Inuyasha(Inu is Japanese for dog, and Yasha means demon-and yes, this is after the anime character of the same name). He was supposed to be a pit/lab mix, but the older he gets, the more german shepherd and possibly akita traits are showing. He's awesome.

Anyway, I'm glad to be back, I missed my Pagan groups something fierce,as I live in NC(the buckle of the Bible Belt),and cannot practice my religion openly in my community(we have 7 churches just on my street alone-and it's only about half a mile long).

Sorry I've been gone so long, but very happy to be back-Sherry

i am me in this lifetime and was me in my last... January 26, 2007 2:49 PM

Hi i don't usually like to do intros but i'm Andi and i'm a practising pagan from the uk i can sometimes get myself into trouble for saying what i'm thinking and i have a warped SOH. I love to visit Sacred and Ancient Sites and one of my favourites is Thornborough Henge unfortunately this is under attack from a quarry.
I have a fondness with trees and am currently trying to learn the runes (runes which i made myself), so i suppose i could say i like crafting things too?
I'm married to a really wonderful woman and remind her everyday of my love for her, we have one daughter who is 8mths old and i have 4 other children (2 boys & 2 girls) from previous relationships and i have been adopted by a Black Cat.

May the sun light your path, may love surround you and may the light of inspiration always burn strong within you...SP & BB

Its me September 16, 2008 8:28 PM

A little boy all battered and bruised climbed a tree one day, maybe to feel safe in his own little way. He felt the warmth and comfort that nature gave, and saw how things worked in natures way, like the tall tree that stood so tall and proud, never to hate or kill it was never allowed, He saw how clouds formed to bring the rain, that gave life to one piece of grain that grow tall so creatures could feed, and in return spread more seed, He saw magic happen as new life was born, from little white eggs beautiful birds were formed, He learnt how to share and how to give and how every little creature has a right to live, Now in his 50s he understands the lands and knows nothing was ever hurt from his hands, Yes a pagan through and through, these words are my magic I give to you.

So mote it so

So mote it be

Whiteheart.
