A Huge Welcome and Thank You!

A huge welcome to all our new friends who are joining us in the fight to spread the truth about Schapelle!

We have been working tirelessly but there is still much work to be done! We need to get our message out to the world.

Why? Because the Australian media is controlled by people determined to destroy public support for Schapelle. They plant lies and rumours about her family through our television programs, radio programs and newspapers. They are convincing the Australian public that she is actually guilty!

WE KNOW THE TRUTH!! We know that guilty people do NOT beg for investigation and preservation of evidence, which is exactly what Schapelle did.

Please urge your friends to:

As we continue our fight for Schapelles freedom since she was arrested on October 8th 2004 in Bali Airport when she arrived to visit her sister for her birthday.Sentenced to 20yrs in this hellhole.  Our hopes now lie with petitioning our new Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd, that he will step in where our previous PM Howard didn't to help secure a release for Schapelle who is innocent of all charges and was denied a fair trial and where any evidence has been destroyed.

During her incarceration Schapelle Corby has shown strength that has bought family, friends and people who don't even know Schapelle around the  world to tears as we fight for her freedom. Schapelle Corby is like any of our daughters, sisters, cousins, aunts and nieces, but more importantly than this she is innocent and should never have been charged or inprisoned with a rediculous 20yr sentence. We have been fighting for Schapelles release now for over 3 yrs and we will continue fighting until we bring her home a free woman.

Hello, I'm so glad to be a part of this group, and want to learn about Schapelle's case and this awful injustice she is suffering. We can no longer labor under the illusion that if one is innocent, all will turn out the way it should. all too often these days people are scapegoated into prison by the most vile people. There are plenty of laws, but very little justice.

Hi Samantha, thanks for being part of this group. This is one of the most shocking cases of injustice you'll ever see. We're glad to have you here

The best place to research this case is: http://www.freeschapelle.net

Schapelle's book, "My Story" is also fantastic if you have the opportunity to read it.

Thank you Ali for the invite. This story sent chills down my spine. I pray that this girl will return to her family. It broke my heart to read that her father passed away and she could not attend his funeral. My deepest prayers for her and her family. God bless them all.

Welcome Jennifer also

Yes Jennifer scary is only the beginning of it all. This could happen to anyone of us or someone we know. Adding drugs to passengers luggage is not as uncommon as it seems...so now we shrinkwrap our luggage so no-one can get into it while it is out of our sight in transit. I noticed when I was at the International Airport here in Brisbane in June that there were more people lined up to get their luggage shrinkwrapped than there were at the checkin counters. One guy was getting a huge surfboard done...
this is a travesty

that any of us who travel may have to face, I am glad to have been invited to this group and will do what i can to help.

thanks Hans for the invite!

Thank you Hans for the invite. I signed the petition this afternoon. One would like to believe "the system" works its justice for all, but we know this is, sadly, not the case. A twenty-year sentence for Schapelle Corby, yet rapists, child molestors and land and animal atrocities get a slap on the hand. Where, oh where, have we gone so wrong and given up as a people? I'll help as I can.

Welcome Karen and Indian H

Yes, a 20 year sentence for marijuana is ridiculous - compared to the jail time given to rapists and murderers. But the horrible fact is Schapelle is innocent. She is suffering for a crime she did not commit. It's clear someone planted the drugs in her luggage.

DJ Wolf has written a great introductory blog explaining the facts of the case: http://schapelleintro.blogspot.com/

Yes Karen K, good question and Schapelle knows people are trying to help her and that is a good thing for her to know. Some supporters have visited her in jail. That will continue. She really appreciates getting letters from people too, letters from people keep her going and Schapelle has said that publically.

It's great to write to her. Or send gifts as well. On Xmas we send her cards and also on her birthday, July 10. Keeps her spirits up, gets her mind occupied on things outside of prison life.

Her's the address to write to her -

Ms Schapelle Corby
C/- LPM Kerobokan JI.
Tangkuban Perahu Kerobokan,
Denpasar 80117 Bali,
INDONESIA

And tell her about yourselves and don't be afraid to use humour, she is very down to earth.

jl means jail right?? justr want to make sure i have this right

Actually the 'J' stands for 'Jalan' which means road or street, and I have forgotten what the I [use capital i] stands for...

You've got me on that one! So the abbreviation  JI  is used and the letters always get through.

Good on you Karen.

Thank you for this group invite Hans, though the message needs to be translated or it will be lost.
As to,what is shrink wrap:this is a type of clear plastic, that is thin, clinggy&can be shrink useing heat, but be careful or it also melts& if it where to caught fire,it would first stick to what it then would also burn,as it burned,& all of that if in skin must be removed to heal-painfuly!
But once used,it is perstant at clinging to what it is placed upon& also does take finger prints,if you know how to left them off it to view.

When I look at 'Care 2' I see a lot of people fighting injustice for everything and everyone.  And it strikes me that whether you are fighting for Schapelle, to stop global warming or to stop the cruel treatment of animals there is a unity to these causes - we are all seeking what is right.

The problem is not the Indonesian, Australian or American governments who played a part in setting up Schapelle.  It is not those that pollute our earth for profit nor is it those who work with animals.  It is the lack of honour and the system that allows the dark side of man to be exhalted.  This must stop.

I have chosen the Corby case to put all my energy behind because it is clear cut and the opposing forces of corruption are open to attack.  No one takes marijuana to Indonesia and certainly not 9 pounds in a bag without bothering to conceal it.  The cover-up that allowed Schapelle to be convicted would not have been possible without the corrupt influence of the Australian and American governments.

The forces of fairness and accountability must get a publicised win and then build on that win to fight other causes.  If we cannot save one woman who was convicted on charges that are impossible for anyone with reasoning capabilities to believe then the forces of corruption have already won.

Standing up for Schapelle feels like I’m standing up for any normal person who wanted to live a normal life. And it’s taught me to stand and fight for other issues as well, and for that I am grateful. With Corby’s case I realized what good are democracy, diplomacy and photo-ops if when the %#&!*% hits the fan nothing can actually be done? Bali police unaccountability, the Judges malfeasance, corruption and lies were to win the day, Schapelle was expendable apparently. And we were supposed to go back to sleep because after all, she was a nobody…

Well screw that attitude. The whole thing was an insult to the intelligence.

When this ordinary Australian girl Schapelle received 20 years, the country went a little crazy. Indicating this meant something much more than just the uniqueness of the importation charge and simultaneous absence of CSI that enraged, more than the Australian baggage handlers  – the rage was over the blatantly unfair trial this ordinary Australian girl got.

She was between two countries that swear blind they are democracies.

They just didn’t have the guts to prove it.
support for Schapelle

I have come late to this terrible, heart-breaking story, as many of us here in the States just saw "Ganja Queen" over the past few weeks. My understanding is there is a massive groundswell of support for Schapelle from the U.S. and Canada. Some of the sites are getting overwhelmed right now with U.S. supporters (For the first time in awhile I'm feeling proud of the USA!). But I fear there may be a limited window to turn this new support into action before all but the most devoted start to drift away to watch "American Idol." I'm not sure how to do it, as I'm usually so busy being a single dad and trying to make a living that I don't get very active. But I'm moved to action now! I am ... outraged, sickened, stunned, heart-broken, very angry and deeply saddened, and fighting back tears all the time I think about it, often unsuccessfully, since I saw Ganja Queen. I'm ready to fight for Schapelle, even if it is against huge odds. First off, Schapelle herself just won my heart - what a brave girl! I don't think I would have lasted 3 years in that toilet. Unfortunately I have this sick feeling that she may not make it for another year unless we can all help heal her broken heart and spirit and restore some hope. Shapelle is like a human face on the over-whelming problem of injustice. Here is one terrible injustice that we can fight. If the U.S. won't stand up for the right to a fair trial, we really are morally bankrupt. But it looks good, so far. That poor, poor woman. I can't believe the cruelty she has suffered, and continues to suffer, from the authorities, segments of the public, and especially the press, or at least the "tabloid press," which sickens me to no end because I was a reporter and editor for 20 years until I realized that journalism was no longer a noble profession that worked in the public interest. (Of course, just as they use her, the press can in turn be used). Anyway I think we need to organize this new energy NOW, somehow, set some specific goals and get on with it. A couple ideas come to mind, along with the petition, which I signed (and sent along with the best letter I could write to the P.M.'s office). Of course there's old-school tactics that work if they're in big enough numbers, like boycotts, letter writing campaigns and T-shirts to spread the word. I don't know what's been tried. I'd like to try to persuade HBO to allow Ganja Queen to be released in wider circulation, i.e. shown on network TV - HBO is a pay cable channel of course, and has a large but limited audience. Obviously the American reaction to the show has been overwhelmingly pro-Schapelle, so there's little to lose and much to gain. Also I wonder if enough of us can persuade the big booksellers - Borders, Barnes and Noble - to carry her book, so that Schapelle can get her side of things out to a broader audience before the tabloids over here start smearing her. I know there are legal issues with the book though.
Other than that I just tell everyone about Schapelle. I ask that they watch the program if possible, spread the word, pray for her if you so inclined, sign the petition, and perhaps send her a post card or a get well card or something to show her that she is supported and loved and is not alone and will not be forgotten. Maybe with our help she can muster up the strength to have hope again. I just can't tolerate the thought of that poor woman suffering and perhaps dying, far from home, alone and without hope and feeling abandoned ... no, uh uh, no way is this thing over.
