Hans, and everyone...thank you all for the caring in Schapelle's case..I not only signed the petition Hans..but I wrote a letter that I got here from the group, simply added more to it, and emailed it to every Congressperson, Representative, Senator, Governor, and even the Prez..I will now try to get my local newspapers involved!  The media, is the one that needs here in America to spread the word about Schapelle's innocence.  Only if America and Australia would get together as Nations fighting for justice can we achieve the right for this young lady to bring her home!  It's all politics, we all know that, but now we must do something, not just talk!  This is really peeving me off, that our government cannot step in and aid a young lady that has so much going for her in her young life, and then it is suddenly taken away over damn Marijuana?...give me a break!  What an injustice to Schapelle.  We all love her and want her home.. I will do my best to do whatever that takes.  I have written to her also.  I will pray to the Great Spirit {adanvdo} for her quick release based upon her innocence.  I have asked the higher ups to take a good long look at the evidence in Schapelle's case.  I just thought that I would share my feelings about another human being, as we all are, this could be anyone of us, and I will do what it takes, that's all..

It is very worthy to stand up for her, and people in her position.

I'll keep talking of the injustice to this particular innocent person till I fall in my grave.

I did sign this Jan.19th,2007. We need many more signatures and all members need to go to the news and note that Neville put out there and send e mail to Peter De Vries. The news has been on there for 1 day and only 13 noted and sent e mails out. Can't we do more for her? Please..Jaylena

Schapelle has little else to do but read and reply to letters...  She does reply to letters but she has to fit writing in when she can.

The point is though that writing to her is possibly the greatest thing you can do for her.  She's in a stinking Indonesian prison because the rednecks and the dull-witted were conned into believing government propaganda that she was guilty.

The mental anguish for her is twofold.  She must survive in a third world Indonesian prison with diseases, violence, and a lack of care AND she is innocent, unjustly accused and unjustly treated.  Letters are an affirmation that people believe her and will do all they can to support her.  Your letters are keeping her alive and fighting.

Most of you would know us from the 'Schapelle Action Support Group' but we have recently reformed under new administration to form the 'Schapelle Support & Lobby Network.'

We felt that a change was in order, consistent with recent administrative changes, to better reflect our purpose. The core administrative group consists of myself [Noel], Don and Keith but we have quite a substantial mailing list of supporters from all around the world whom we sustain through our regular newsletter and updates.

Our Purpose:


• Provide moral and practical support for Schapelle and her family.
• Raise awareness of the facts surrounding her wrongful imprisonment.
• Dispel myths, rumours and lies that have been used against Schapelle and her family.
• Lobby our Government to do more to bring Schapelle safely home as soon as possible.
• Keep Schapelle's welfare in people's thoughts and prayers.
• Give information about what people can do to support her.
• To coordinate and co-operate with other support groups where possible.
• To explore other avenues by which we can assist Schapelle and her family.

For foreign currency contributions, we are in the process of making arrangements to make that process easier as quite a few of Schapelle's supporters live in countries other than Australia. They have found that the transfer and exchange rates generally diminish their contribution and makes it hardly worthwhile. So we are hoping to offer as many ways as we can to assist supporters contribute directly to Schapelle as possible. Paypal is one option.

Editorial:

 

Many people we speak with think that it is blatantly obvious that a grave injustice has been done to Schapelle. No argument there. Many think that there should be a simple answer. Well, there it becomes a bit more  complicated. I post below an article from the Melbourne Age by Paul Monk which gives us some idea of just how complex and dirty international politics and diplomacy can be. Let us hope and pray that with the change of government here and the likely change of government in the U.S. that there will be at least some movement towards a more humanitarian and just world. I don't expect miracles. You cannot reverse the damage done over centuries in five minutes or even eight years.

 

We've just witnessed our Prime Minister make a historic apology to the indigenous people of this land. It was an important step, but only one step. There is a great deal of work still to be done.

 

For those of us who want a better world for everyone, we'll never be out of work.

Many of you may not know that to survive in the Indonesian Jails you need outside support to provide many of the basic necessities of life, like nourishing food and clean water that is required to maintain health and personal hygeine products. Schapelle's sister Mercedes visits her on most days to bring food and sisterly love.

While the Corby's have not asked for this, we know that they struggle. To enable Merc to continue this support, we have instigated a method for international supporters to make donations either as a once only or by small recurring monthly instalments using PayPal, a totally secure system. You can access the donation system either at http://www.freeschapelle.com.au or on the Bring Her Home Toolbar downloadable on this site.

Sorry, just got track of these postings. This petition is signed (there are now 582 sigs, too little) and other actions will be taken. I just want to get something clear in my mind: that support group for Schapelle isn't "just" lobbying and putting pressure on the political institutions, is it? I hope that they are using the money they're sent to also get her a GOOD lawyer, just as Jaylena pointed out. I know politics are politics, but with no counsil ... I don't know... that kind of people are very used to get prisonners to entangle themselves in some minor tidbits, that they are expert on making gigantic. That's something that concerns me.

The problem, Maria, is that the Indonesian courts may claim to run on democratic principles but are clearly police run.  The problem for anyone travelling there is that only Indonesian lawyers are allowed to practice there and all of them are under the control of the regime.  The best we can hope for is that International pressure will force both the Australian and Indonesian governments to work together to release her because she is obviously innocent.

Wow, thank you so much for your action. I am very interested to hear what the congressional delegation will say. So far, we have only written to Australian politicians (and had some responses).

Usually members of the smaller Australian parties are very supportive, but the 2 major parties tend to brush off the letters with lame excuses ("we offered help", "we cannot interfere in the legal process of another country", blah, blah, blah...). I hope word gets out that American citizens are complaining about the case. It would prove embarassing for our government.

Hi all,

I've been following Schapelles plight since day one.   I was horrified at the unfair court case and even more appalled at how the Australian media has convinced so many Australians that she is guilty.   But I'm very happy to see how many people from USA and other countries are supporting her.   I will never be convinced that she is guilty.  I don't care what dirt the media digs up against her.   I don't know what we are going to do to get Schapelle out of that hell hole but showing love, support and kindness to Schapelle has to have some positive effect.
