we can use this thread to talk about how we want to do things...problems, changes...that sort of thing.
i changed the background theme again...the bloodroot or whatever it was was a little too pretty...i liked the raven, but some people didn't.
there are a lot of things i still don't know how to do...some of the group management tools are not explained very well.
in settings. look at the member application. i thought that meant new members had to be approved before becoming members, but bill is the first person to join since i put that in and i didn't see an application...i know he answered the question.it's simple, but i'd remember seeing it. it doesn't matter, i quess...just don't like members in name only who never, ever come to...what is that awful word...well just to read. it's an open group...anyone can do that. i'd like members who at least occasionally contribute...say maybe once in a blue moon...how often do we have a blue moon?

good! i'm so sick of people making excuses for them not responding, etc...oh those poor people are overworked and we must be patient and we are getting all this for free!...they probably ARE overworked...hire more people...have memberships like they used to...get some more good advertisers...i'm so sick of that scam company and their yellow teeth all over care2...i wonder if i could start a petition!

hey rod...i'm back. this group was much more fun when other people were posting!
i guess intentional community and alternive/green lifestyles are not something people enjoy discussing...i do. i tried a thread on composting toilets on a very active discussion group of general topics and someone else started one on earthships and it went nowhere. on the other hand, they really get riled up if you talk about veganism! oh well...i wish care2 would get your avitar on as cohost, but if you really don't care. then i give up on that...would be nice...people do come by occasionally...not to post, but to read. are you in touch with any of the members? i email a few occasionally, but it would be nice to hear how some of them are progressing like greta, dave, dd, and valerie who seem the furthest along. well, mardi seems to have an informal community going already and chrystal last i heard was planning to join a community in vermont, a offspring of meadowdance...if i were to move, i think that is the one i'd join.
there are some "members" who have never ever posted, don't even come to look at the site...i don't know who they are, really. i'm thinking of another annual purge...message and if i don't hear from them, they probably don't care. guess it doesn't matter. i just don't like dead wood and anyone can come read information even if they aren't members. i also want to message some people we haven't heard from for a while to see how they are doing.
I welcome the new members, Bill and others. I just do not have the energy for most of my ambitions lately. The one I am most active with is doing weatherization work and energy audits for free with a group we call Wocester Energy Barn-raisers in MA.
Then there is my daily life where I should approach IC in the way I live, but let things slide at home, now with an energy efficient and clean burning wood stove I should install. I would like to raise worms, and use the old stove for a composting heater, which can reach a few hundred degrees in a week or so, I hear in decaying hay. Then I could raise mushrooms on the dacayed hay, and eventually feed this stuff, and other kitchen scraps to the worms.
Am I going to do this stuff? I am making no bets, but will try to glance at any postings here now that I do get notified when they get made. Thanks for contributing to this site.
Most of the spare time I create goes to writing poetry...at least a less consumptive pass time, with the latest a diatribe against the dangers of cell phones. I imagine in IC's people spend a greater amount of time speaking to each other in person, which must be a good thing.

glenn, it is always good to hear from you. i know what you mean about having plans and ideas for doing things and somehow they don't get done. i think it does help to have others around to share ones enthusiasm or just to have that social contact. it is more fun and easier to do many things when there is another person to do them with. finding a sense of community is hard to find these days. you mentioned the energy barn raisers group before. it sounds like a positive group to be working with.
i'm thinking of changing group visability back to "open". it is now open to care2 members only. would like to hear your thoughts on that.
also, i am starting a thread on "little white pines" and would like to invite anyone else with a community plan...at any stage...to start one of their own. i get occasional inquiries about my barely forming community. i answer them all and most, i never hear from again...it would be nice if they would respond with a simple "no thank you". i get tired of repeating the same information...most of which is already in the listing with ic.org. if this group were open, it would be easier to link to this group. i would hope that if anyone is messaged agout me, you have my permission and i would encourage you to give your honest opinion of me...like you think i'm a grumpy old, pig headed women or whatever!
