Biogas Digesters in Nepal The Trivani Foundation, in partnership with the Leslie DeeAnn Foundation, recently sent funds to a village in Nepal for the construction of two biogas digesters. These biogas digesters are advanced latrines designed to convert human and animal waste into methane gas. The gas then allows people to cook without cutting down forests or exposing families to dangerous fumes from wood smoke. In addition, the byproduct from biogas digesters is a safe and high-quality fertilizer for village crops.
The Trivani Foundation hopes that this system will give families, who currently know nothing but hard work, constant adversity, and dire poverty, the chance for a better life. We also hope that these latrines will help to improve Nepal’s polluted, overcrowded areas—many of which are also suffering from environmental problems
