Just happened across your group and had to join ~ exactly the group I was hoping to find!
Have a beautiful Fall.
A misty Autumn Equinox morning here on Paumanok (Long Island, NY). My candle is lit, and I am grateful for everything in my life.
Heading out later to friends with a basket of squash & pumpkins from my garden.
I am blessed by the online companionship here on Warriors of the Rainbow, and send you all blessings in return !
BIG hugs, Pamylle

New Years Prayer poem by Charlotte Anselmo
Thank you Lord for giving me
The brand new year ahead
Help me live the way I should
As each new day I tread.
Give me gentle wisdom
That I might help a friend
Give me strength and courage
So a shoulder I might lend.
The year ahead is empty
Help me fill it with good things
Each new day filled with joy
And the happiness it brings.
Please give the leaders of our world
A courage born of peace
That they might lead us gently
And all the fighting cease.
Please give to all upon this earth
A heart that's filled with love
A gentle happy way to live
With Your blessings from above.

Just wanted to Wish You a
Filled With Love, Happiness
and Prosperity.

BEST WISHES TO ALL FOR 2011
---------------------------------------
When you're lonely I wish you love
When you're down I wish you joy
When you're troubled I wish you peace
When things are complicated I wish you simple beauty
When things are chaotic I wish you inner silence
When things look empty I wish you hope...

Did you know the 27th is Polar Bear Day? It is snowing (ok it is trying to - it
is dismal and gray) --- but, I was thinking that perhaps I should leave
care2 tho been here 12 yrs. Then I thought but, do I make a difference?
Do I help someone? Or an animal? And, I thought of Agnes Corbett -
Estrellita - Darianna - Arthur Copeland to name but a few who have
passed away. (Many of you wont know these much loved people but...) Then I thought about Michelle Reynolds, Lynn Lawrence and
Walter McMillian no longer here. AmiKathleen, Janice Jenkins here but,
not, and my beautiful daughter Kimberley Spinney. I thought about each
of you and how much EACH of you do for others - the world and animals. The time you spend
clicking - writing - forwarding. The purpose behind Randy's successful
dream. The time Zen, Eric and Care2support spends trying to solve all
the issues. And I realized that if I went, I couldn't, no, I wouldn't
have friends to write. Cards to send. Petitions to sign. People who in
fact do reach out and touch others. (Like so many of you here.) So, today is in my heart
care2remembrance of friends here - gone day. A moment to simply thank
you for caring. - Caring 2 make this a better world and my life better
because of each of you. love Kathryn
I just got this from First Nations Development Inst and thought it fit with the previous posts. If it's out of place here, let me know. I'm new to the group. I realize it's pretty big but I thought interesting. February 10, 2010 Longmont, Colorado- First Nations Development Institute (First Nations) awarded eight grants, totaling $160,000 to Native American tribes and organizations participating in the First Nations Native Asset-Building Partnership Project. In 2009, First Nations launched the Native Asset-Building Partnership Project, aimed at strengthening tribal and Native institutions through peer learning and model development that will lead to improved control and management of assets for the benefit of Native communities and individuals. The eight partners participating in the project are Sovereign Power, Inc. of the Spokane Tribe of Washington, Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, Leech Lake Band of Ojibwe, Hopi Education Endowment Fund, Sitting Bull College's Tribal Business Information Center, Four Bands Community Fund, Turtle Mountain Community Development Financial Institute and White Earth Investment Initiative. Each of these partners received a $20,000 grant that will support organizational capacity building efforts, with the overall goal of strengthening asset control and management. "We are honored to have each of these wonderful organizations involved in the First Nations Native Asset-Building Partnership Project. We are also grateful that we can provide some financial support to each of these organizations as they continue to develop asset-building programs and strategies to improve their communities and control their assets for the future," stated Michael E. Roberts, president of First Nations. The Native Asset-Building Partnership Project is a two-year project funded by the Otto Bremer Foundation, the Northwest Area Foundation, the F.B. Heron Foundation and the United States Department of Agriculture (Rural Business Opportunity Grant). For more information about First Nations' Native Asset-Building Partnership Project, contact Catherine Bryan, Senior Program Officer for First Nations at 303-774-7836 or cbryan@firstnations.org.
I'm finally back on line and have about 1000 emails so it will take me forever to catch up and I will only have an hour or so a day for awhile and I'm really slow LOL. More inter tribal cohesiveness is a great idea but maybe the logistics and expense of having a physical store would be difficult. You're on the right track though and want to hear more of your ideas and what other people have to say.
I think it is a great idea, if done with sensitivity and an awareness that manners vary a little bit from nation to nation. But you are wrong to say you are not a native. It isn't only a matter of blood--as a great many people adopted by various tribes could tell you. It is a matter of the heart, the mind, the soul. Blood is actually the least of it. Except where the federal government and a few purists are concerned. You are a fine native.
If we did this and started this amongst all of the Tribes maybe we could forge a better relationship amongst all the peoples. We could send a message that we the people truly are equal and that love - compassion - friendship - does eventually win the day.
I volunteered to write letters and although I do not have a job - do not own my own home any longer my soul and spirit needs to do this - perhaps to heal me I need to help others.
Who knows maybe this could lead to something and if not at least we could help those less fortunate ---
ok fire away --
Love Kat
