Scott does this mean they'll throw us out for being anti nukes and pro environment? I'm so confused. I thought the "Green Party" didn't like people who are actually Green...and therefore threw them out and banned them, especially intellectuals, writers and political activists.
Now we will have no group to actually maintain the Green Party values.

I am also more than a little confused.. Why not just change the name of this group and carry on as the REAL green group, instead of dumping this one and deleting all members... and then starting all over AGAIN?
Anytime that happens, one will lose a lot of people. Change is hard enough, but closing groups down completely instead of just changing names or leaders is pretty radical.. I am a little shocked that;
no questions were asked
no survey was taken
no discussion was had...
no real explanation was given
It tends to leave a bad taste and discourage participation in ANYTHING green... . Is this standard practice in green groups?
First I was kicked out of the large green group.. Now I am effectively being deleted from this one
Next.... another deletion? I think not.. I will just stick with the one green group I belong to other than this one and just keep rolling there. At least I have a little more influence about whether or not to delete myself there. LOL
I wish everyone luck with their own version of green, in whatever direction they want to take it..
I apologize for having been hasty. I guess I was just so excited to see an official Green Party group (the Green Party web site, gp.org, links to it) that I lost perspective. Also, my life has been overwhelmingly busy and I have not been able to participate in a meaningful way. Of course, this is an explanation, not an excuse, so I would like to make amends.
So let's open the discussion. In the meantime, I will attempt to restore this group settings and info to its previous state.

While it's true that you can lose people, I too was excited to see a group open that said OFFICIAL. And I was thrilled that you were happy about it. I think those of us who are really involved in the movement and not just looking for chat time, will probably make it there. Unfortunately there is confusion because the Greens have been through a lot trying to make a party that is fair and addresses our issues.
Just keep in mind what YOU actually believe in and find the group that is doing that and you should be okay.
Also I hope I don't speak out of turn, but I thik Scott wanted a place for Green folks to get together, but never claimed to be OFFICIAL. Let's just go over there because now we have someunderstanding that party folk are watching over things. No more removals (like that large group) in the GREEN's name

And Eric he could change the name, but I probably wouldn't have stayed. Not that I'm saying he should cater to me over others, I'm saying either way someone is not going to be there.
What about the phoney "Green Party", the group with 33,000 members or whatever; did THEY get kicked off of Care2 for their GROSS MIS-BEHAVIOR TOWARDS GREEN PARTY MEMBERS? [I am or was a member of the actual Green Party of Washington State; I know people who have RUN FOR OFFICE on the Green Party ticket; and they were APPALLED when I told them what was going on in the "old" phoney "Green Party" here on Care2! Racism, sexism, anti-green-energy and pro-corporate-power, for starters.]
Can they STILL USE THE NAME OF "GREEN PARTY"?
How can there be TWO GROUPS ON CARE2 USING THE SAME NAME?
[Also, how could 'Sustainable Louisa' or whatever her name is now, TAKE OVER as sole Host of the group; and PERVERT IT FROM ITS GREEN PURPOSES?]
If there is in fact a REAL Green Party, an "official" one that my Green Party friends in Washington State would not need to be ashamed of being associated with, then there should be a good way of our melding with it. Also, it should always have MORE THAN ONE HOST; so that a "hostile takeover" NEVER IS ALLOWED TO HAPPEN AGAIN.

I can see that if the OFFICIAL Green Party U.S. is viable here on Care2, then there's a reason why this group -- which was formed as a reaction to the 'perverted' group -- would no longer have its reason for being.
However, I am concerned about young kids and others who are joining Care2 for the first time. Groups like the PHONEY Green Party, are formed [by the Far Right, the Dirty Tricks department], in order to SIPHON OFF real Activism, to neutralize it. Kids and others will join, thinking they are joining something REAL -- if the OTHER group is allowed to STILL USE THE NAME 'Green Party'.

This explanation makes me feel better as I am an official member of the Green Party of the US. In that case I'll give it a try. I just didn't want to join the old idiot brigade on Care2 that kicked people out for being anti-nukes.
And Scott--Thanks for explaining everything. We really, really appreciate that you made a place for us.
Green Party Beacon Light....
Recently, I invited people from another group to join this group. That was because I didn't know that the OFFICIAL Green party would ever make a Care 2 group. Since they did, that's the group I want to be in. I am registered to vote as a GREEN. (as much as you can be in North Carolina.) I'm not just "interested" in GREEN conversation. I am trying to get people elected, and trying to get our values on the law books.
I go to events and sign people up on our ballot access petition so that in 2012 we can run some candidates.
So when Eric asked why we couldn't change the name, or take a vote, it's partly because, Scott's group was never an OFFICIAL representation.
I'm sorry that I invited so many people to this group only to leave the next day. Now I invite people to the other group. Only because I want to be about the OFFICIAL business.
I also attend GREEN party meetings and participate in the local elections, within the party, and on conference calls within the party.
Right now North Carolina is making a bid to host the Green party convention for 2009.
So if you guys are interested in doing any of that I'll see you in the other group. Once again, I'm sorry I invited so many people to this group and then left. I didn't know the future was coming the way that it did.

It's great that they've started an official Green Party group, but that is no reason to close this group Scott.
If it wasn't for your efforts in starting this group than this prob wouldn't have happened. I'm sure all who join this group will join the official group and prob vice versa.
There's a fair amount of evidence of the abuses of the other groups host for all to see here , hopefully leading to a mass exodus of members from the faux 'Green Party'!
I'm gonna join the official group, but no way am I leaving this un!! 
We could always become the radical faction of the Greens or summat.
