Cat owners need more education to safe guard themselves against vets who push declaws!
Yes there are vets that are pushing declaws. My friend is working for one. She isn't happy and is looking for a new job.
They push a declaw with every spay/neuter that comes in and this is also 4 paw declaws. It's a very nice clinic, in a very nice part of town that deals mostly with well to do customers and mostly dogs.
One of the vets keeps 2 caged cats in the clinic becuase they pushed things off the counters at home causing the dog to eat objects and needing surgerys. So the cats get put in a cage and are 'unsuitable' for adoption. Another boarding cat (declawed) was placed in the dog kennel in it's catge because it meowed too much in the cat boarding area (for affection)
Please if you have a cat investagate your vet!!! If they see mostly dogs then they may not be fully intune with what a cats needs are.
If they are declaw advocates stand up and say NO WAY will I support that and find a differnt clinic.
You are your cats guardian, protector and they trust you to keep them happy, safe and do what is best for them. If you have a vet that doesn't even know what is best for them you will fail your cat.
Here is a printable brochure you can passout, place in bills, etc about the facts of a decalw. Help educate the cat owners out there so they will not be taken advanatage of by their vets!
