This seems to be the favorite Group? With the rose color back ground and customized with a Burma Photo It is the landscape that makes it a favorite and maybe labels to get to topic?

Hard to post in though And on main page we find it does not stay Anonymous for members, as it shows their picture! Only the old style Groups seem totally safe for them to put in their comments and talk about Burma.

Maybe this is more fitting? September 12, 2008 7:56 PM

As it seems mainly jungle with lots of green.

True their flag is red ...... but so is China's!

The flowers had a Japan god hidden in design! I could go with the Buddah theme but a lot who are living in the US and many of the Free Burma Rangers are christian!

It was an adventure! September 11, 2008 7:27 PM

The groups that are not being killed off how do they live? April 19, 2008 9:16 AM

Lifestyle
Lifestyles and Activities
Despite modern changes and globalized cultural blending, Myanmar people have been able to preserve their own lifestyles and activities that have existed since time immemorial. The people of Myanmar communicate in their own language, wear their own style of clothing including the longyi, relish their own style of food, pray in their own way, play their own games, celebrate their own festivals, receive treatment with their own traditional medicines, and perform their own rituals remaining as Myanmar as possible in every aspect. Many of the life styles and activities are unique to Myanmar people. For example, the Shin Pyu or novitiation ceremony, which allows a young boy to experience temporary monastic life, is a religious practice virtually nonexistent in other parts of the world. Although some of Myanmar's beliefs, superstitions, customs and lifestyles have gradually disappeared, many still remain and are cherished and highly valued by the majority of the people.

The Star Thrower (by Loren Eiseley)

One day, a man was walking along the shore. As he looked down the beach, he saw a young person reaching down to the sand, picking up
something and very gently throwing it back into the sea. As he got closer, he called out, “Good morning! What are you doing?”
The young person paused, looked up and replied, “Throwing starfish into the sea.”
“Why are you throwing starfish into the sea?” he asked.
“The sun is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them in they’ll die.”
“But, don’t you realize that there are miles of beach here and starfish all along it. You can’t possibly make a difference!”
The young person listened politely. Then knelt down, picked up another starfish and threw it into the sea, past the breaking waves and said, “Made a difference to this one.”

Changes updates from Buffalohair April 07, 2008 8:18 AM

Hummmmm there is a big difference? Like in
The Indigenous Tribes in Burma, in list below. The Karen have their own fighting force so have suffered opression more at the hands of successive regimes of that country for decades. Forced re-settlement and labor, incarceration, ... H'mong Akha Karen Wa Lisu Palaung

"Children in the ethnic nationality areas have little chance to learn at school.

The most vulnerable areas are Karen, Karenni and Shans
where only 10% of children can join school.

Children in the areas of Mon, Kachin and Chin
have more chance to get education compare with other areas."

You started writing about the Karen's stories? Is there a mix or did it change to only Kachin?

As I found your quote in Google:
"I've champion many causes from Native America to the Kachin of Burma. "
So do I need to change information at Groups and Sites or leave it all as is?

Just reading again,
Ann

"I started out with the Katchin's but am branching out to all tribes in Burma." Buffalohair

Sprite is a clear soda, lemon-lime flavored, caffeine free soft drink, produced by the Coca-Cola Company. It was introduced to the United States in 1961.

Dr Pepper almost became a Coca-Cola brand in the mid-to-late 1980s. Dr Pepper became insolvent in the early 1980s, prompting an investment group to take the company private. Several years later, Coca-Cola attempted to acquire Dr Pepper, but was blocked from doing so by the United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC). Around the same time, Seven Up was acquired from Phillip Morris by the same investment company that bailed out Dr Pepper. Upon the failure of the Coca-Cola merger, Dr Pepper and Seven Up merged (creating Dr Pepper/Seven Up, Inc., or DPSU), giving up international branding rights in the process. After the DPSU merger, Coca-Cola obtained most non-U.S. rights to the Dr Pepper name (with PepsiCo taking the Seven Up rights)

Food and drinks in 1998

temple offering Every town and village has small restaurants. Burmese and Chinese food is widely available.

Purified drinking water in 1 litre bottles is available along all main roads and in all towns. One bottle will cost approx. 50 Kyat (0,10 U$ nov 98). Soft drinks, locally and imported are available; often cool or even cold. Soft drinks in cans is about 5 times more expensive than drinks in bottles (0,25 cc)

Camping

Sleeping in a tent is not permitted. We heard from one cyclist whose tent was confiscated while camping in Myanmar. We carried two lightweight RidgeRest mattresses and a mosquito-net. This proved to be very useful when staying at cheap guesthouses and monasteries.

Tell IOC No Torch in Tibet!

As Chinese troops intensify their crackdown against Tibetans, the Chinese government prepares to launch its Olympic Torch Relay next week. On Monday, March 24th, the torch will be lit in Olympia and start what the Chinese government is calling a global "Journey of Harmony". Beijing plans to run the torch through Lhasa and other Tibetan territories including to the top of Mount Everest in a propaganda exercise designed to convince the world that Tibet belongs to China.

In the past week, tens of thousands of Tibetans have risen up across Tibet, risking everything to demand their independence. The global community must stop China from parading the Olympic torch through Tibetan territory while hundreds, possibly thousands, of Tibetans are being tortured and brutalized in Chinese detention cells.

Please take action now and demand the International Olympic Committee (IOC) immediately withdraw the Tibet Autonomous Region and the Tibetan provinces of Amdo and Kham from the Olympic torch relay route.

I need to get the group site off my site due to a problem with IncrediMail. Every post to the group goes to the group site, as well as to the IncrediMail site and I can't get the IncrediMail off my computer try as hard as I can. Until I can succeed at it, I'm overwhelmed trying to keep both sites under control. I thought it would help to get out of the group, but that also failed. Any suggestions?

Onedia we are keeping both Groups here at Care2 plus my Storytelling Group and every Blog, Journal and Site we have out there on the Internet! One of the Karen just sent her thank you this morning. She was in tears and thankful for all the work we are doing for them, said she even wants to meet me some day.

The Karen on the Borders are getting electric power by solar panels etc. and some computers. So they are now reading Carlos stories at the Sites and Also are listening to Carlos Radio Show on the week ends as he greets them in their language.

Oh for those who do not know about it?

Buffalohair's Smooth Show on www.pheonixradio.net

Friday, Saturday and Sunday 9:00 PM - 12:00 midnight EST

Carlos/Buffalohair said, we need to get this information and the Karen Stories to every person we can, we do not want to miss any one. He hopes they can find it in their hearts to do the same in sharing every one of them, also. Yes, send the Stories the Karen are giving us .....  around the World! That is all they ask!

Carlos is just finding ways and sharing other ideas on how we can stop this killing.

Not sure yet, oNedia I need to talk with Carlos about it and besides there are members there, that are not here. The Info will be a bit different. I have taken and deleted Karen info from there already.

So that would not be fair, where I could not move them or the Group and started a whole new Group. Yes, I put a link in for this Older format so they will know. Besides some are on my friends list and got the change like you did? So time will tell.

We still do not know if Care2 will have both formats later on. Did I read something about September some where? Or was that about the mail change?

Yes, Burma is Beautiful but is being bulldozed down by the Burma Army now with dirt roads so they can get to the Karen. I am sure the rain run offs has muddied those waters!
