During the last weekend of September, we went to Pittsburgh, PA to present three Transformational Breathing Workshops. On Saturday afternoon, at the end of the third workshop we had planned to return to Michigan. It turns out that The Universe had a different plan. We were unusually tired and hungry and felt it best to eat before we got on the road. As our stomachs began to fill, our energy let down and we decided to stay overnight. Feeling more refreshed and energized the next day, it was an easy decision to spend some time in the mountains rather than head immediately back to Michigan.
The day was crisp, clear and unusually warm for the fall. It was a perfect autumn Sunday. We wanted to be near water so we headed to Ohiopyle State Park. We decided to hike along the Youghiogheny River (great for whitewater rafting if you are interested) and eventually headed up a tributary of the river to where there is a natural water slide. Never having been further up the creek than the water slide, we decided to hike further upstream to Cascade Falls. The air was warm and full with the scents of the forest. Occasionally a bird would sing but always you could hear the flow of water between, through and over the rocks. As we continued to walk upstream, we soon came out to a large opening at the side of the creek. There in the distance was a large flat rock beckoning us to visit. As we sat down on the rock, the natural beauty inspired us to connect even more. It was a perfect moment!
David suggested that this was an ideal time to breathe (do 100 Breaths as taught in Transformational Breathing) for 10 or 15 minutes. Pat readily, easily and enthusiastically agreed. We got comfortable on the warm rock sitting next to each other with our legs crossed our sides gently touching. Water was pouring over rocks creating a small rush that could not just be heard but felt. We settled in and began the connected breath. Time seemed to stop. At some point, Pat shifted her position and laid her head in Davids lap. While still breathing, he placed his hand on her chest to open up the heart space and David felt his own heart open as well. We both noticed that as we continued to breathe, our breaths began to align. Our inhales and exhales became one as we breathed together. It was a clear and powerful connection. We are not sure how long we breathed but when we came back, we were stilled by the raw beauty of the forest. Our senses were heightened as we, the observer, became the observed. Before the breathe, we had an experience of the elements, the waterfall, the river flowing below, the warm air, the heat from the sunshine, the earth beneath us. At the moment we returned from our breath session, we sensed an aliveness that was not originally present. We were one with all that was ..we were the water, we were the air, we were the fire from the sun and we were grounded to mother earth.
It was magical! The leaves on the trees, that were across the creek, were aglow. They now seemed to be part of us, as our tissues merged with the softly changing tissues of the leaves. It was as if we were transported to another dimension. Every thing was experienced with a new consciousness, the spray from the water, the smell of the air, the fill of the granite that formed the bed we rested on. We truly felt connected to one another and to all that is. Neither of us ever had such a deep experience of oneness like this ever before. We awakened from the dream of separation to experience the quiet voice of Spirit, whispering through the soul, opening us to that experience of oneness with all that is.
What a gift this opening of awareness is. We experienced such a sense of balance and harmony to all life. We felt a deep sense of gratitude and appreciation for this powerful, spiritual experience. Now we understand the comment made by James Redfield in the Celestine Prophesy that as you aspire on the spiritual path, all things take on a luminosity as you begin to view the world from the perspective of the Divine.
We were different as a result of our breathing experience. Even two weeks later, the experience is still vivid and fresh as if it just happened. The past two weeks have been magical between us. We are more kind, caring and loving. We revel in being close and enjoy each others touch. It is as if our senses have been awakened to a life beyond our bodies. It is our belief and experience that if you are willing to let go of the limiting beliefs that tie you to your past, then you can bring anything you want into your life. All things are possible and miracles do happen. With the right intention and the right catalyst to jump start the letting go process, miracles are not just possible but probable. And the miracles that you manifest will be miracles of love, joy and abundance, and that is all good.
