Darla, I have had a head injury too!  It was 25 yrs ago, when I was 21, from a car accident.  I was in a coma for 6 wks, in the hospital for 5 months all together, & 7 months in outpatient rehab.  It affected the right side of my body, so I had to re-learn to walk again, & it was easier to learn to write left-handed than to re-learn to write right-handed.  I would like to hear about your experience, if you don't mind.

Brenda, I'm sending you reviving energy!

Vallee, gorgeous pic!  Yes, that is probably why my landlord is showing the room.  I heard him say the move-in date would be approximately Jan 30.

Patricia, for the healing energy & sympathy about the pizza!

Vallee, Patricia, Brenda, Darla, Wula & Ella!

Love, serenity , & healing energy to each of you!

Good afternoon, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. Not much going on here, just my usual. One bad thing did happen today, I went to reply to a MCRA e-mail and needed to send a couple attachments. Well, I went to do the attachments and everything was gone! A whole file is missing off our computer and I don't know where it went. Ray is coming home at luch today and will check it out then but I'm not holding out much hope. I requested copies of most of the stuff from other MCRA members but some of it is stuff they didn't have so I'll have to reenter it {thank goodness I have a printed copy}. There were also several pictures on there that are now lost I'm very frustrated.

Sandra, thanks for starting a new thread. Wow, you have some story. I really empathize with you. Thanks for sharing. My head injury is not as severe as yours but I'll tell my story. On July 23, 1982, shortly after my 19th birthday, I was driving with my best friend in one of those small pickups. For a change, I was driving the speed limit {I'll admit I was a bit of a speeder when I drove ~ I no longer have a license}. We came upon a bridge and there was a car coming off an intersecting road. I could tell he was going way too fast to stop and it looked like he'd hit us despite us being in the far lane. I tried to swerve off the road to miss him but there wasn't enough room and I would've driven down the embankment of the creek so I slowed down some more and got as far over as I possibly could without hitting the bridge. I figured the car would hit us, we'd hit the bridge railing and I'd have to go home and explain a damaged truck to my mom's fiance {it was his truck}. The next thing I know I'm coming to and what I could see of the truck was demolished. I couldn't move so I couldn't see much but I knew that we didn't just hit the bridge railing. About that time my best friend strated wriggling and I was in excrutiating pain, still unable to move. She kept asking me to get off of her and I kept telling her I couldn't move. Soon the police were there and getting us out of the truck b'cuz there were some witnesses to the accident {the other car never stopped}. Fast forward to the hospital, my mom's fiance tells me he's not worried about the pickup and I go into what they called a semi-coma for several days. In the car accident I received a head injury on the left side of my head and a broken back at T-7. I was told that I was very lucky to be alive. I learned to walk again and spent 2 weeks in the hospital with a special dispensation for 6 weeks in a hospital bed at home with a visiting nurse. They didn't think the head injury was all that severe compared to the back injury but I always had memory problems from then on and alot of issues where I knew the word I wanted but I couldn't get it from brain to mouth. I also suffered balance problems and dizziness. Fast forward to a few years ago, they were doing testing for seizures and discovered that I have abnormal brain activity on the left side of my brain. As for the quality of health care, you have to remember that this was in 1982 and it was in a small town.

Love, serenity, and healing energy right back at ya.

Brenda, thanks for the  sweet words. Great to see you here.

Val, sorry you lost your post. Boy it really cold where you are. It's 41 F right now on our porch though the low today is supposed to be 29 F. Warmer weather coming soon.

Pat, miss you and hope to see you soon.

Update ~ Ray came home at lunch and was able to locate the missing file and restore it! Yippee!

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

Val, nice background for our group!  Now you need to substitute ome of your sunrise pictures for the waterfall...  Beautiful picture of sunlight streaming thru the clouds!

Darla, for telling your story!    Your head injury may not have been as severe as mine, but you had to cope w/ a back injury too!  I have memory problems & struggle to find the right word at times also.  I'm so glad Ray was able to restore the file for you!

Brenda, good to see you & stay warm!

Hello people!

Sure do like the new color of this site.  Or am I imagining it?  Either way, I think it's new so I am going with that.

You guys have been in some pretty terrible messes.  I have too but I don't feel like going into it, so I won't.  Today I am trying to keep positive despite this nagging headache.  Sometimes I get so pissed off at being in pain all the time! Well, you guys understand.  That's one of the things I love about this group.  Everyone understands each other and ccares about each other.  | mean, truly cares.

So today is the day I go to autopac to see if I did any damage to the car from the accident in December.  I really don't want to go outside.  It is soooo cold out there!  It's -26C with the wind right now.  That does not make me a happy camper!  lol  No problem though.  Soon I will be crabbing about the slushy weather and then the hot weather - .

Must run and do some of my work.  It's always there isn't it??  lol  Hope everyone has a good day!

Glad you like the background - I decided to change it - am incredibly busy trying to find a good free web site - Sandra the webs.com is just so difficult for me to manage but may try and go back - and trying different promoting sites etc - I'll try and change the waterfall if I remember how - will look for a good sunrise - haven't had any lately - real clear and cold but suppose to warm up today -

Darla - I would say that is quite a story - luckily I haven't had anything like that happen to me - wops - I guess I am just nuts by myself!!  Made some ear-rings yesterday - will have too photograph and got the socks - but my husband took one pair - thank - that is all he wears - you are so sweet - glad you found your files too.

Brenda - we are warming up

Pat - HELLO!!!!!!  Hope the car isn't bad - were you iin an accident in December???   I have no memory!

I agree - we all care - that is why I invite only special people here - it is not the #'s but rather the people that make a good group!

Good morning, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Thing are good here. We got a container full of candy {some chocolates and Laffy Taffy} yesterday from the apartment office with a card asking us to renew our lease for  another year. They also came to fix our leaks yesterday! I told the maintenance guy that Ray did silicone inside b'cuz it was supposed to rain and he said he'd just take care of outside. When he went to fix our bathroom leak, however, things got dicey b'cuz the thing {it's the part that turns the water off/on} broke and was spraying water everywhere! He ran outside to turn the water off and I grabbed some towels to mop up water. Another maintenance guy joined him and they got the parts replaced and shop-vacced the water out from under the sink. Not much going on today, just my usual reading and computer stuff. Love the new background.

Sandra, you're welcome for sharing my story. Yes, it was quite awhile before I was able to do things like "normal" again. After about a year or so of healing I got back in the work force til 1999. Most of it was in retail {I worked up to management} and I dressed the part complete with heals except on my bad days {some of which were brought on by my first ex-husband} when I stayed in flats and usually didn't work. When my bad days got closer together I switched to another job where I answered almost 40 lines of phones for a building of offices, interviewed an dplaced people in temporary jobs, and found companies who would use the temp service I worked for. I did that for 3 years til they wanted me to deny I had back problems  and I quit. Then I became an Optometrist Assistant for several years til I moved to Rockport, Texas {a very small town on the coast south of Corpus Christi} and th eoptometrist I worked for was breaking all the rules so I quit and went to work for a small retail store doing mostly display. In 1999, my bad days caught up with me and I could no longer hold down a job so I filed for disability which I fought for for almost 2 years.

I'm also glad that Ray was able to restore my file ~ he's good with the computer like that.

Brenda, thanks. I'm glad I am here too. I truly like this group.

Pat, so sorry you have a headache and are in pain all the time. Yes, I'm sure I can speak for everyone and say, we understand and care ~ we're here for you. Staying positive thru the pain IS an important thing and I truly admire you for doing so. Hope your car isn't too badly damaged. Wow, you are really cold! We are currently at 54 on our porch but are expected to get down to 32 today and tomorrow.

Val, thinking of you and hoping you're alright.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

Hugs....

Val, you must've posted while I was compsoing mine b'cuz your post wasn't here when I started writing mine. Glad you got the slipper socks. So your hubby took a pair, did he? Well, if that's alright with you, it 's fine by me! Seriously, glad y'all liked them and that y'all can use them. They were just sitting in my drawer. Thanks for your sweet words.

Yes, it is quite the story, I have pictures of the truck and it is horrible. It's truly a miracle I wasn't killed. The bridge railing landed on th eroof of the truck smashing it in to where it below the steering wheel. The thing that saved me was not wearing a seatbelt and being able to lay flat out on the seat! My best friend wasn't injured in the accident as my body covered hers {she's 4'11" and went to the floorboard of the truck} and took the full force of the accident. The other miracle of the night was that I was wearing jeans {I had shorts on and changed at the last minute} and still my legs were cut up by the glass of the back window getting into my jeans. If I had been in shorts my legs would've been sliced up badly. My mom and her fiance he's my dad now} saw the truck before they saw me and my mom was sure they were going to tell her I had died. It was very traumatic for everyone involved.

I agree with you that it is the people who make the group special and I'm so blessed that you invited me.

Do get a picture of the earrings as I'd love to see what you made.

Hugs....

Darla - my husband before we were together though I knew him - went off a 100 foot cliff and climbed up the embankment after the truck flipping over - the ambulance driver took a photo and gave it to him - they couldn't believe that he was alive - unfortunately it contributed to his need to have neck surgery C2-C7 3 years ago which has left him quite disabled though has other issues that contribute to the disability (wow something is wrong with my laptop - all just went black and said something I have never seen before - have run all the cleaners but ever since I tried to look at a video last night - it has been acting weird - at least didn't lose this but better be quick).

Won't even get into where I have worked except to say that I was looking for a job once and the guy asked me why I had had so many different jobs - I told him because I could do a lot of different things - got the job but turned it down - thought that was funny.

Darla, Sandra, Pat and Brenda - you are all here for a reason - seems we all have had interesting things happen in our lives.

Sandra - did change the photo also -

Darla - these ear-rings you didn't send me -but sent you an e-mail regarding some others.

Hope all are well today

Good morning, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. Just got finished reading a very good book called Zoo by James Patterson and someone else {can't remember who and don't have the book in front of me ~ Michael someone, Sedgwick maybe; don't get me to lying lol}. Anyway, the book is about extreme animal behavior  where they are attacking humans in groups, even animals that are normally solitary are getting together in group and attacking humans. The people are trying to figure out why and how it can be stopped. A definite page-turner, something you won't want to put down. I finished in about a day but then I do read fast. Whoa, just got really dizzy and it took a couple minutes to pass. It's 55 F on our porch right now though our low is supposedto be 32 so my plants are still wrapped. I think I can unwrap them tomorrow which will be watering day.

Brenda, yes, it is a miracle and I thank Creator for that knowing that it just wasn't my time. Creator saved me and I gave birth to 2 beautiful, intelligent kids that I wasn't supposed to be able to carry. Granted, I had difficult pregnancies and didn't go full term with either of them but both my son and my daughter are completely healthy and I think they're the reason I was spared. Whenever things get bad for me I remember that it could be much worse and that I'm very lucky to be here.

Thanks. I'm glad the water issue is fixed too.

Sandra, sorry you're so tired. Love, serenity, and healing energy are being sent your way.

Val, beautiful earrings. Look forward to seeing what you sent me in the e-mail.

Wow, a 100 foot cliff, your poor husband! He's very lucky. I totally empathize with him though luckily I've never had back surgery as it was considered too risky.

Hope your laptop is alright.

That's quite funny aswell as ingenious, you telling the man you were good at alot of things! I'm glad you got the job even if you did turn it down.

Pat, you're in my thoughts. Miss you.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

Hello all!

Well, I went to autopac and gave my statement.  Seems that they think something is not right.  Even though they blame me for the accident (automaticly my fault as I was backing up) they find it strange that the other woman has not made an appointment to see an ajustor.  This happened on Dec 6.  Yes, I had to cancell twice but with good reason and at least I made it down there.  Plus they have photos of her damage and it looks like from where I have damage ($600 worth) doesn't seem to math the hight of where she is claiming to be hit.  They are calling her in to have her car measured.  I think the damage on my car was from something else.  Way to low to have hit her with my back bumper from where the damage is.  If the adjuster find that out, then everything is dropped and no harm to my drivers license or my insurance rate.  Hope that's the case.  Sounds like it.

Thanks for missing me everyone.  What you really can do is send me some heat!  LOL!  It is cold here again. Right now it is only -28C but is was much colder earlier.  Have to plug the car in and it's costing me more hydro!  I hate the cold!  (wait a few months and I'll crab about the heat)  LOL!

My son is coming over for dinner & do laundry this evening.  I have to pick him up of course.  Not looking forward to going outside.  Think I'll make some kind of casserole.  Maybe.  The other kid hates them but he is so fussy.  Kids huh?  LOL!

Great earrings Val and I just love that picture.  I do adore cloud watching too so that picture is right up my alley so to speak.

Have to run (again as usual) as I have to get some things done and it's getting late (again as usual)  lol.

Hope you all have a wonderful, safe & happy day!!  Peace to you all............

Patricia, I hope that there is no harm to your driver's license or insurance rate.

I'm also sending you & Brenda some warmer weather!

Hi Brenda!

Vallee, I like that response, saying you had a lot of different jobs because you could do alot of different things - multitalented & multiskilled!  Poor Obie!  I'm sending him healing energy   Those earrings are great!

Darla, you have made it thru some traumatic experiences!  I hope there are no more episodes of dizziness, & for the L, S & HE!

Vallee, Patricia, Brenda, & Darla!

Love, serenity , & healing energy to each of you!

Thanks everyone

Pat - here I think we only have a certain amount of time to get an estimate of a car accident - unsure  - hope you get what you deserve.  Yes that is cold - at least we don't have to plug our cars in though they do in the northern areas of the US - -28 C is -18F for us USA guys.  That is cold!

Darla - neck surgery is actually worse than back surgery - had a hernia in my neck once and put ice on it 3-4 hours every morning and night for over a month and finally got it to go back in because I didn't want surgery.  Hubby in lots of pain - difficult.

Sandra - I always have been different!!!   But of course you know that -

Sorry if didn't respond to everything - on my way out though told Geraldine won't clean today but next week like she originally asked - oh laptop seems better today thanks..

Latest pair...

Good morning, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. I was able to unwrap my plants yesterday after all b'cuz temps changed and our low was only going to be 36F. Right now it's 55F on our porch. I will have to go out later today and water. Not much going on here, just my usual reading and computer stuff.

Pat, sounds like your appointment at Autopac has things going your way. Hope when she comes in, it's like they think and you won't have any harm to your driver's license and insurance rate. Glad you got to see your son. So, did you wind up making a casserole?

Sandra, yes, I have made it thru some traumatic experiences as have you. I remember them and know that if I made it thru them then I can make it thru anything if I just stay positive. You're welcome for the L, S and HE; I hope it helped. Sending you more today.

Val, yes, I'm sure neck surgery is worse and I'm glad you didn't need it. As for me, my mom declined it when they told her they'd have to go thru the front and move the heart, lungs, and aorta artery to get to the place in my back that was damaged. Then they couldn't give any sort of guarantee that it would work. I forget the statistics she said they gave her but they weren't very good and chances were I'd be worse after surgery than I was before. I think th esurgery has changed now with advancement of medicine but I still won't have it done since I'm doing okay without it. I'm sorry that your hubby's in lots of pain ~ I do empathize. Love the earrings you made, they're very beautiful and should sell well.

Brenda, miss you. You're in my thoughts.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

Darla - enjoy your lunch - unfortunately - you never know with surgeries - my mother had several on her feet and never helped - hubby had the neck surgery but he was becoming paralyzed from the neck down - so who knows how fast that would have happened or if it would have eventually but his bones were all fusing together in his back -

Sandra - hope you are feeling better with the antibiotics - warming up here a bit -

Brenda - glad you like the ear-rings- pray they sell - have had a free domestic shipping on jewelry all week and nothing - maybe next time I'll add Canada Pat. I just hate doing the paperwork to send out of the states but really isn't that bad.

Took this photo yesterday!

Good afternoon, all! Hope this finds y'all doing well and with things going great. Things are good here. It's 65F on our porch right now and is supposed to be in the 70's again today. Lunch yesterday was great. We went to a little Chinese restaurant called China Stix and had a nice family style meal. There were 4 dishes to split among 6 of us and it was just the right amount of food. My dish choice was walnut chicken and it was one of the top two favorites with a beef dish being the other. Not much going on here today, just my usual.

Brenda, great to see you here.

Val, yes, you never know with surgeries. I'm sorry that you hubby was in such bad shape before the surgery and pray he's doing better now even though I know he's disabled. Of course, I keep you in my prayers too.  Sorry you haven't had any interest in your jewelry. Love your pictures, especially the one today with the moon but then you know I'm partial to moons.

Wula, great to see you here and to meet you. Glad to hear you're doing well.

Pat and Sandra, miss y'all.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

Hello to everyone.

Not much in the mood to talk lately.  Don't know why.  Think I am just exhausted.  Did a bunch of shopping yesterday.  Went to three stores.  Stocked up on my groceries, which makes me happy.  We were getting what I call low but others just think I am nuts.  Must be something I carried over from my past life LOL!!

Val - Love the pics!  Then again, I am a fan of your work.  Also like your earrings.  Wish I knew how to take pictures of the ones I make so I could show you mine.  Maybe someday I'll learn but don't hold your breath ok?  lol  Did I miss something again?  Is Obbie not doing well or is he having troubles?  I certainly hope not.  You both are always in my thoughts and prayers I hope you know that.  Thanks for clearing up who Geraldine is.

Darla - Thanks for missing me!!  So sweet....awe... Glad to hear that you have decent weather.  Today it is -29F with the wind and tomorrow it is suppose to be colder.  Oh wonderful...NOT!  That's pretty bone chilling to me.

Wula - Great to see you here!  Any time you can spare some time with us is wonderful!  Hope things are going well for you.  Take care!

Brenda - OK, I must admit defeat. I don't think I can compeat with you in the games section.  LOL!  Maybe I'll play for the fun of it but I doubt it if I'll ever win again   lol.

Sandra - Thanks for missing me too and for all the good stuff you send.  I really need that energy.  Been feeling out of whack lately.  No energy or amition for much but I am forcing myself to do stuff.  Kind of feels good to get things done though, even if it is forced.  At least I am catching up with my movie watching  LOL!!

Just in case anyone needs it - .  Enjoy your day!!

Pat, sorry you are exhausted and not in th emood to talk, hope things improve for your soon. Meanwhile we understand though you'll be missed if you're not here. Hope you enjoyed your shopping and glad you got your groceries stocked up. Wow, -29F! That is very bone chilling. How do you stand it? Do you stay inside and keep warm or what? I just wouldn't be able to handle it as I'd be miserable with pain.

Sandra, you are very welcome for the L, S, and HE. As always, sending more your way. It's great that you're doing your exercises and feel better after doing them. I haven't been on our recumbent bike in awhile ~ need to that more regularly. I got out of th ehabit when I broke my foot.

Hello everyone!

Today I plan to stay in and try to catch up on some of my work.  That's good because it is friggin cold out again.  Right now it is 9:32 a.m. and the temp is only -18 F but that's because the wind is down.  Thanks goodness!  Yesterday was a real cold one, but went out anyways.  It was rather nice.  The Italian store we went to only had one other customer in it while we were there!  LOL!!

Today I am going to try to clean some stuff upstairs and vacuum and wash the floor downstairs.  We'll see how that goes.  Perhaps I'll do some laundry too.  I'm a real sucker for punishment!  lol

Lovely pic Val!  Gald you are feeling better Sandra!  Darla, I can't stand the cold either but this is where I live so I just get a straw!  (get it??)  I suck it up!  LMAO!!!!  Thanks for letting me "try to win the next one Brenda but don't do it!  lol Alls fair in love & war (and games) remember!  lol

Hope everyone has a great day!  I am hoping I will too.  So far I am headache free!!!!!!  Talk to you guys later...........

Reading about everyone's cold temperatures I almost hate to tell y'all mine. Currently, we are at 69.8F on our porch. Not much going on today, just my usual.

Brenda, sounds like our times are vastly different and you're going to bed when it's the middle of the day here.

Sandra, you're welcome for the comments. I try to get here daily. L, S, and HE right back at ya.

Pat, wow, -18F!!!! I guess you get used to it and maybe stay in alot. It's all in where we live and what we're used to. My daughter's now living in Washington {state} in a town called Kennewick and has had to get used to the much lower temps that they have after being raised in Texas and being used to our temps. Sounds like you got your work cut out for you today. But please don't overdo. I'm a worrier and worry about my friends.

Val, miss you today.

Take care everyone and have a fantastic day.

Hugs all around....
