Make retirement years fulfilling and enchanting February 20, 2010 5:44 AM
There are those who fear the thought of retirement as these years approach. Is it the money,
or is it boredom- you do not know what to do with your time?
Think about it, folks. Retirement years can be the chance to pursue those " dreams" you had to put on hold. Stop dreaming! Hopefully, you are still in good health, physically and mentally fit and ready to face the world.
Take a course- a simple one, like gardening, writing, any craft that you've always wanted to do.
What about travel? It does not have to be travel around the world- discover the nooks and crannies of the area where you live.
Throw a barbecue party in the summer. Host a family reunion- take lots of photos and start
scrapbooking. Photography is a very interesting hobby. With the digital camera, anyone
can be a photographer.
There are all kinds of activities to occupy your time in retirement. It does take a lot of planning.
Assess the things you want to do, hobbies you want to get into, plan ahead for those years
when you have the gift of time.
Join community groups that is of interest to you. It is good to be wired and technologically savvy, but try not to get addicted to the cyberworld. Get up and around- stay away from a sedentary way of life. This is definitely NOT healthy.
Share your time and talents with the world, share it with your loved ones. Most of
all, share this time with yourself.
